1. *SOLD* PRICE DROP £850 I've thought long and hard about this one, and I think it's time to part with my beloved Marcus Miller Jazz bass. It's one of the original Japanese ones, not the Mexican ones, so it's quite weighty (about 5kg according to my luggage scales). They don't make these anymore. It's in fantastic condition. The original pickups stop working a few years ago so I had them replaced with Seymour Duncan Basslines. More recently I had John East install one of his excellent J-Marcus preamps (he installed it himself; see the pics!) which has opened up a world of tonal possibilities. I've used it on tour with The Duckworth Lewis Method and Omar and it sounded great in both bands. Selling because I have finally realised that I just can't really get on with jazz basses (I have a Deluxe five string up for sale here too). I'd really prefer collection or am willing to meet up/deliver within reasonable distances rather than risk the post. The last thing I posted out via MyHermes disappeared off the face of the earth and I would hate this bass to go astray. Located in Peckham, SE London. I also travel around a lot playing so may well be able to meet up further afield. Comes in a gigbag. Looking for £850. No trades unless you have an early (preferably 80s) Warwick Streamer Stage 1. 3. PRICE DROP £900!! Selling this lovely 2008 Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass 5. Only had it for a few months but I think 5-string Fenders are just not for me. Picked it up at Wunjo's on Denmark Street. Plays great and looks fantastic in a natural finish with the tortoiseshell pickguard. One little screw missing from one of the tuners (doesn't affect the tuner) and one ding on the side, shown in the pics. £900. No trades thanks! * SOLD *

7. Right. I'm selling my Whamola folks. Bought for a project a few years ago, this is a proper Whamola made by the Whamola Labs guy in Portland, Oregon. Beautiful hand-made one-stringed bass with a massive whammy bar. If you're a Les Claypool fan, you know about these. This is the standard model. Rare as hen's teeth in the UK, very possibly because they cost a small fortune to ship over here. Pickup from Peckham or I could possibly meet you somewhere or deliver within a reasonable distance and no trades thanks; selling to raise some cash for some studio bits and plugins. sad but true. Here's some pics...
8. Lovely arrangement Huw
9.
These are killer basses.......GLWTS!!
It's been my main bass for the last ten years. I'll be sorry to see it go but I've just got an Infinity plus another Lakland five string so need to re-balance the basses!
10. Sunday lunchtime bump. Still here folks. If it doesn't sell soon it'll be off to the Gallery for commission sale action... Make me an offer!
11. So I bought that bass I mentioned... Hence the bump! £950 now folks
12. So I bought that bands I mentioned... Hence the bump!
13. Bump! Still available folks. No trades though thanks; had a few offers but I really need the cash to fund a new bass Ive put a deposit on. Woops!
14. Hilarious that it says "Ideal" on the body. That bass looks far from ideal to me...
15. Intonation on an upright bass is all about your left hand technique. If your left hand is held properly with the correct spacing then you should be playing in tune. Practising with a bow is the only way you'll really hear your intonation clearly; you can get away with murder playing pizz so practising scales and arpeggios arco will be a big help. Rather than using a tuner, try using the open strings or harmonics as a reference when shifting; if the bass is in tune with itself then you will always find the true spots. It might be worth having a few classical lessons to nail your technique. I was classically trained and although I hardly ever play classical music for work (or indeed even with a bow!) it has given me a great foundation to build on. Hope that helps
16. After many years of faffery I was finally at five. Was. Until last week, when I found a bass I simply couldn't live without. Now I'm a four and selling one of my faithful workhorse basses (after ten years!) to fund yet another purchase. I can't believe anyone would really be a five forever...
17. I shouldn't think it's too common an issue but the fingerboard on this bass was very thick and was pulling the neck forward beyond the point where the truss rod could compensate. So we removed a good 2mm (ish) off the board and now the neck is gorgeous
18. *Price Drop! Now £950!* Selling my Warwick FNA Jazzman 5-string bass after 11 years of service! I bought this bass new in 2004 and it has been my main instrument for the last ten years. I used it on countless records, most notably the last two albums with The Divine Comedy (Bang Goes The Knighthood & Victory For The Comic Muse; if you want to hear it in action have a listen to BGTK). It was also my main touring bass with Maggie Reilly and it has travelled all around Europe with me. Only selling as I have recently bought an Infinity NT 5-string which has become my main bass and I don't want the FNA to sit unplanned. It's a cracking instrument with loads of tone options and it deserves to go to someone who will play it all the time. It's standard issue apart from the chrome hardware and the extra-long neck which I ordered from Warwick. The neck is about an inch longer than the standard which really helps the sustain. It has had the fingerboard significantly slimmed down by Martin at The Gallery who also refretted it with slimmer frets. This was done many years ago and prevented the neck bending as these basses are prone to. Very fast smooth action and in great condition for it's age. Looking for £950 cash collected from Peckham or I could meet you halfway if possible. Message me if you have any questions... 19. Selling the preamp and faceplate (including all the appropriate knobs) for a Japanese Fender Marcus Miller jazz bass. I have recently upgraded the preamp to one of John East's Marcus Retros so this is now going spare. This is the original preamp and faceplate as included in the Japanese Marcus basses. No battery cover plate as this is a separate component and is still attached to my bass! £45 collected from Peckham or £50 posted within the UK. No trades thanks; trying to raise some cash towards a new instrument. Cheers!
20.
Great cheers Simon. I might stick it on GumTree too. Never tried that site before
I tried Gumtree once and never again; all I got was time-wasters and scammers :/
