1. The Pavilion in Belfast last night. Went really well. Debuted a new song and got nothing but compliments. Well pleased.
2. Does anyone have a tab for this Raconteurs song? Any help gratefully received.
3. Just seen what appears to be a good deal on a Ltd b 334. Looks like a lovely bass, could be tempted. Anyone got one or played one? £249 new but I can't try it out.
4. The UX1 can also use POD farm or other sims like Amplitube. Nice looking deal on the bundle btw.
5. Fantastic idea - I'm in. 4 strings all the way!
6. Hope it's OK man.
7. Is it worth it and if so what would you recommend?
8. JJ Burnell, Paul Simonon and Bruce Foxton. I was a punk and these guys led the field.
9. You need an interface. Plugging straight into the soundcard is likely to cause damage so I've been told. The POD UX1 is a good cheap choice IMO.
10. Not quite as good value as yours but my MAG 300H and 410T Deep cab paired with an Ibanez GSR200 cost £390 all in. Oh, and a Bad Monkey OD that cost £30. Not bad methinks.
11. Anti-inflammatories and rest. Only thing that works.
12. On a multi band gig the amps etc are usually shared by prior arrangement to keep switch-over times to a minimum. If somebody turned up without a bass I'd laugh at them and tell them to f*** off. If their bass developed a fault however or they broke a string mid-set I would happily let them use mine to finish.
13. Not my kind of thing but can't deny the talent on show. I'm more of a fan of bassists like JJ Burnell myself...
14. funniest thread in a long time.
15. Hi, my name's Steve and I play bass for Belfast based band RedEye. We play heavy alternative type rock but we are currently short a drummer. We need someone capable who can handle a double-kick pedal as our previous guy was outstanding. Here is a link to our website where you can hear a preview of our soon-to-be-released four track EP - the music describes us better than I ever could. Thanks. 16. Personally I think they look amazing. It's all about playability and sound though so I've no idea if they're worth the hefty pricetag.
17.
Nope, not that I know of. If you know anybody in The Big Grizzly they could put you in touch, or PM me and i'll send you a link to him if you like.
Pm'd
18.
Do you know Aaron Cushenan? He might be worth a try.
Don't know him. Is he with anybody currently?
19. We're based in and around Belfast and have our own practice space at Ballygowan. We play heavy alternative rock. The website link is in my sig and you can hear a preview of our soon-to-be-released ep (drummer permitting) through that.
20.
It's all a bit moot until you find a drummer you like.
This. Our drummer left and we haven't been able to find a replacement. Still writing, still jamming, but going nowhere without a drummer.
21. That looks really cool. Did you take the varnish off first or after you'd removed the frets?
22. I think there's a Planet Waves one.
23. Seriously considering doing this to an old damaged Westone Concord. Are there any differences for a varnished maple fretboard?
24. I have no problem sharing amp or cab but I would draw the line at the bass itself. My rig seems pretty bullet proof and I would be amazed if it failed in normal use. As someone said earlie, when you play in an original band on multi band bills there's not much choice. We always make sure it's agreed in advance so there's no confusion on the night. The headliner usually provides most of the gear.
