1. I use a big muff (guitar version) and I love the sound but the problem is there seems to be a volume drop. I've fiddled around with the settings for bloody ages and every time I think I have it sussed it goes again. It's got so frustrating I actually stopped using it.
2. That's a beauty. Wish I could afford one.
3. I've been using Cleartone cables for a while now. Neutrik plugs, made to order, Van Damme cable - far better than anything I've used in the past and very well priced. http://www.award-session.com/cleartone_cables.html
4.
Cheating or not the technology is there and it won't go away (hello Cheryl!). I think I did in fact refer to it as a 'cheat box' in my first post to this thread. It does open up an argument though. For many bands the fact that the singer can actually sing is a bit of a bonus. For live work it is only half the story. I don't want to sound demeaning but, since it's one of our own members bands here, I'd say that for a band like Dick Venom that the actual technical quality of the lead singer is maybe less than half the story. It's also clearly about a very strong look and engagement with the audience. Now, consider the scenario of putting a band together and it's down to choosing a front man that sings like an angel but has the stage presence of a wardrobe or someone that's Jagger and Morrissey and Ian Anderson and god knows who else charismatic godsend that makes all the rest of you look less like knuckle draggers BUT he needs just a bit of help keeping in pitch. What to do?
I'd take the singer and work on the look and stage presence. You can't polish a turd.
5. Hearing or writing a new song on guitar, then putting a low groove to it. Hearing it come together with the band. Makes me feel all fuzzy.
6.
I agree.. And if you really need it, it sounds like you're using it.. I use my box for harmonies/effects/doubling etc...
That's fair enough, but this dude's singer is flat. That would be a cheat, imo. Either learn your instrument or quit, anything else is lazy.
7. Don't like the idea of auto-tune personally. Seems like cheating.
8. She Bangs the Drums - Stone Roses
9. If our singer (who is generally excellent btw) goes off, we tell him. The recording thing is excellent - we went through a period when we were just starting to put our set together of recording every practice. If he, or anyone else, is out, this is the way to spot it. Encourage everybody to be critical of themselves - if I hit a bum note I put my hands up and say sorry. Imagine going on stage without tuning your bass? Or hitting a semi-tone off every couple of lines? No difference - his voice is his instrument. Record!
10. What about Guns of Brixton by The Clash? Down in the Tube Station by The Jam? Just 2 that spring to mind.
11. Thanks
12. Thanks folks - so far I'm really pleased. I just want to crank it up and see where it goes!
13. Used Ashdown MAG 300 H and MAG 410 Deep Cab. Love it and can't wait to get it in the band room on Saturday to crank the hell out of it. Probably not terribly exciting for all you real gear heads but it's a serious trade up from my Ashdown EB130.
14. So I bought the amp. Can't wait to get it to band practice on Saturday!
15. Looking at a MAG 300 head and MAG 410 cab used at the moment... Watch this space.
16. This is true. Guess the sensible side says get the amp. Any opinions on the quality of the bass though?
17. BUMP - nobody got any advice?
18. So I can't decide whether to get one of these. I currently have an Ibanez Soundgear GIO (P/J pickups) which is actually a pretty good wee bass. Thing is, I could really do with upgrading my amp - I have an Ashdown EB 130. I love the sound out of the amp, I just need something more powerful for gigging headroom. I would probably go for another Ashdown in about the 300W range. What do you reckon people? I need some help!
19. Thanks for the feedback guys, I'l have to find somewhere I can try one out.
20. If you check out the song Northern Lights you'll hear exactly what I'm trying to achieve. Follow the sig link...
21. Anybody?
22.
Final results - http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__1432369
Holy sh1t that's massive!
23. Hey guys. I currently use a Big Muff for fuzz and a Boss SD-1 for drive. I was thinking of getting the Bass Juice to save me taking 2 pedals to gigs. Do you reckon the Juice is a good replacement for my current set-up? I don't use the fuzz much, just for a couple of songs, but the drive is always on as I like my bass to sound dirty. Advice greatly appreciated!
24. Yeah i love my wee Ibby. Especially since I only paid £90 for it.
