Sweet serendipitous score! A 'Ki0gan' loom (fellow basschatter) with series/parallel push-pull vol pot ftw! 👊

Congrats mate, Looks ace! That finish looks superb 👌 Nothing wrong with poplar btw. I used to have an American Ernie Ball Stingray that had a poplar body. That bass killed! Happy NBD 🙂

Same. First thing that comes to mind is seeing them perform their new single "Your Missus Is A Nutter" at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff before Wales took on England way back. They dedicated it to David Beckham who, whenever he got the ball that evening, the Welsh crowd would chant, "Your Missus Is A Nutter!!" at him. Fun times! 🤣🏴

Great stuff. I'll be doing something similar myself as, during a good clear out of bass bits and bobs, I discovered a Lollar P pup that I'd completely forgotten about...Well, it would be rude not to!

The best Formal, and Informal, musical lesson of your life?
miles'tone replied to ARGH's topic in General Discussion
Formal: I learnt how to construct any chord by understanding what intervals they are made of (not as hard as it might sound). I can, in at least the simplest of ways, play anything with anyone and bulls**t my way through a chord chart now 😄. Informal: If you can sing it, you can play it. -
Rod bought a bass body and neck off me. Perfect transaction, lovely chap. Thanks Rod!

Don't be that sound guy. You're better than that.

I must try this as my fatigue is driving me mad. Glad it's working for you. Might go for Welcome To The Jungle 😁

This is a lightweight (1.7kg) Squier P body circa 2000. I once had it on a bitsa fretless P bass a long time ago. Eventually I stripped off all the thick poly with a heat gun (and discovered that it is an alder 4 piece body). I sanded it smooth and refinished it in black nitro over white as at the time I was going for a Scott Thunes look-a-like P ☺️ Although it's wasn't a pro finish, it was good enough for me. I did the refin at least 10 years ago and it has lived in my bits drawer under my bed eversince, where it has picked up some unintentional relicing from my occasional rummaging. I've kept it around solely because when it was a fretless that I gigged with, the whole bass was so resonant, acoustically loud, and nicely lightweight. A good one. I had plans to build it up again but I can't see that happening now. It would be great for those who like the relic thing and if not, it would be easy enough to refin it in whatever colour suits you, as it would take fresh nitro over the top of what I've done with minimal prep. £45 posted

I bought this from China via ebay but the bitsa project I was planning to put together went on indefinite hold when I bought a new P. It cost me around £120 all in. The neck looks really nice and well made. Smells good too! 😄 It's actually darker in real life with a pleasing satin sheen to it. The flame looks nicer and richer too. Crappy phone camera I'm afraid. £80 posted

Delano PMVC 4 FE/M2 P Bass pickups - handmade in Germany. Never used, still in the box. From Delano: How to improve a classic pickup design? DELANO takes the classic P-Bass® pickup design a major step forward. The big poles grab all the strings movements with zero loss. Specially engineered magnets and custom wound coils make up for a bass transducer ready to redefine the word PRECISION. Just imagine meaty P-Bass® tone with in-your-face Stingray® style grind and attack, and then you got at least the frame of the picture. Due to its tight broad frequency range, this is a GREAT pickup for nu-school funk and rock players, it loves drop tuned basses and massive tone tweaking £80 posted *now £75

I've ordered a set of Chicago tuning strings for it. I haven't toyed with my banjo for a few months now as I've been really into my concert uke and progressed well (enough). Makes sense to go with Chicago as I can transpose the chords easily enough and it'll be far easier on my brain 😄 Can't wait! Cheers for your recommendation mate 👍

Great choice. I'm sure you'll be pleased. Enjoy!

How old are your oldest strung bass strings
miles'tone replied to SH73's topic in General Discussion
Ernie Ball Slinkys on a semi acoustic (which a friend has on long term loan now) - 16 years and still sound great on that bass. Better than ever in fact. D'addario 5 string black tapes on a HB fretless - at least 10 years and still sounds pretty much the same as when they were new. Current experiment is a new set of T.I. flats on my P Bass, which I am never changing (unless one breaks). -
They do one roasted too: https://richtonemusic.co.uk/Fender-Roasted-Maple-Precision-Bass-Neck-20-Med-Jumbo-Frets-Maple/

I agree. It needs one to complement the Jetsons body (which I like btw). It deserves a headstock with retro sci-fi styling and 2+2 tuners imo.
