  1. Im having the same problem learning and playing Pretty Woman. The bass line is no problem but I just never remember the words. I generally never listen to lyrics and eithed miss hear them or make my own up so having to now get them right and remember them is the tricky part.
  2. Hi Tom, is this the teal 2eq one? Still have her and she is lovely. If I do decide to sell, you get first dibs 😊
  3. I've just ordered a Soundhound. Should arrive tomorrow I'll keep you posted.
  4. Best mismatch I can think about is when my old band supported Let Loose. Let Loose were a pretty boy band from the 90's, all good looking bedroom poster types playing to young teenage girls. We on the other hand were a guitar punk pop so a bit Green Day, Manics, Radiohead, Wonder Stuff etc. Strangely enough, we actually went down quite well.
  5. Out of interest, which did you prefer and which did you think was louder? I love my Rumble 100 V3 but I really like the size and foot print of the TC BG250-208.
  6. She's got gorgeous hair though 😍
  7. I have a Fender Rumble 100 V3 for acoustic gigs and its very very good. Give a lovely tone and if I dial off the low mids, it even makes my Kala bass sound a bit like a double bass. They are mega light and small but personally, I want something even smaller so I may get a TC Electronics 250 208 in the future but only if it sounds as good as the Rumble.
  8. Yes, no problem doing what I do on a Squire.
  9. I ordered a set of strings from them about a month a go. Got the email acknowledgment and then the dispatched email a day later but then nothing. Waiting just over a week and then emailed but no reply. The next day the strings turned up. I also ordered the month prior to that and the strings turned up within a few days.
  10. My sleep has always been dire. Takes me ages to wake in the morning and I can be sleepy late into morning and into the afternoon but no matter what, regardless of if I have had little or lots of sleep, come 9pm then I usually wake up and ready to party. Regardless if I am gigging or not or I try and go to bed early or get up early, it just makes no difference. If I try and get into a pattern then I just end up laying in bed wide awake until I finally drop off in the early hours of the morning. I put it down to 30 years of gigging and being used to being up late and playing late into the night. I used to take a bottle of whisky on tour to help knock me out but it just resulted in drinking more and more until it just made little to no difference. So nowadays, I will get home, watch a bit of stinky poo TV, maybe a whisky and something light to eat and hope for the best.
  11. Oooohhh, yes please, that would be amazing, thank you kind sir.
  12. I would get two as I use 2 NY112's for my rig anyway but would want to try one first before taking the plunge and buying two
  13. I'm considering trying the 1x10 as a possible replacement to my MB N.Y. 112.
  14. We did an amazing gig back in January in this beautiful village hall and a member of Pans People was there. Everyone was on the dance floor dancing and our guitarist and singer went down and danced with her. No idea which one she was (I'm far too young) but I had heard of them.
  15. Ah, thanks Pete, that's very kind of you and will do. Would be good to meet you as well. Happy Jack has also offered to show me his DB so grateful to you both.
  16. Thanks Sandy, I had a Stagg EUB many years back but I really fancy acoustic DB for the tone and visuals. Thanks for the suggestion though.
  17. I am in Camberley, Surrey.
  18. Thanks for the advice everyone. I can't make the bash as I'm out gigging which is annoying as it would of been perfect for me. That Gedo looks really nice. When I'm ready then this is probably what I would look to get if you guys recommend them. The Zellar looks great as well but I need to do some saving so will probably be gone by the time I'm ready later in the year.
  19. I wish my v3 rumble had a black grill, dont like the silver grill one bit.
  20. Currently playing in a 50s and 60s rock and roll band and a lot of the original bass was played on a double bass. We are doing a fair few acoustic gigs and I fancy dabbling into playing some of these songs on DB. I am a total newbie and don't fancy spending a fortune and have no idea what I should be looking for. So can anyone recommend some good beginner double basses. A Squire of the double bass world if that even exists. I see Thomman do so double basses, no idea if any good though. Thanks for the advice.
  21. What are you looking to learn from a teacher? Reading music or just playing bass?
  22. I would just assume you are doing the only gig you have been asked about and play dumb to the other gigs and when they get mentioned, let them know that you know nothing about it and why were you not told. Let the penny drop for them that they've been a bit crap at communicating. They won't do it again after that .... hopefully.
  23. Thank you 😁
  24. Do you have a link to the thread on Talk Bass?
  25. A bit of a blank canvas this one and some of the stuff you have suggested I wouldn't class as high end. It also depends on what you plan to use your gear for. I've just joined an amazing 50's/60's cover band and bought all new gear. I got a Fender American Jazz 75 Vintage Reissue, a Markbass Little Mark 3 and 2 x New York 112 cabs. Its sounds amazing although I'm not 100% set on the speakers. I have a Stingray which is great but doesn't really work tonally with the band. I have a gorgeous Precision as well but it's not happy working with my Markbass rig. I just bought a Fender Rumble V3 100w combo and the Precision sounds amazing through it. So the point is it really depends on what you are going to use your gear for.
