1. Could you be more specific about 'the bits'? Thanks
2. Spitting seems to have become 'a thing' again generally.
3. Make a recording and let us hear it
4. There's an interesting observation that the smaller the business the tougher they are with you
5. They've been doing this for some time .... and what 'did' happen to the guitar improver?
6. Have some fun with this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a65amHd8Fow
7.
My initial post was worded poorly. This was not meant to be a dealing with drunks in pubs thread. It was meant to be a punters in pubs telling us "you guys playing in live rock bands in pubs & bars are history and no longer relevent" thread. Blue
I thought 'Arthur Daley' and I were the only two people that still used the word 'punters' to describe the paying public
8. Booze and music, a lethal combination regardless of age!
9.
Poetry. In the elevated skyline of skankscript that's another peak.
He's our tame sesquipedalian!
10. Just out of interest what were you trying to play for this 21yr old? In my limited experience most youngsters of this age think music comes out of a 'magic box' and has to involve swearing 'smears' and various references to expensive products
11.
Is it not great or is it wrong. It's not a black and white issue. Many of us have packages delivered to us with no issue whatsoever. The OP doesn't seem bothered that the package could have been stolen so I'll assume he lives in a nice area. The cardboard wasn't damaged so again I'll assume that the box was gently lowered over the gate. The box was slightly damp. Boxes get wet In transit anyway, if it's a worry that the contents will get damaged in the rain that's down to the original packing. I've made a few assumptions there based on evidence. I've yet to see any evidence that the package was just thrown over the gate.
Dont forget that its standard practice for many couriers to offer to leave parcels in 'safe' places if there's no answer. With a neighbour, out building, side gate etc Courier may not have thought he'd done anything 'that' wrong! Especially as most people kick off if there parcel is not delivered and has to go back to the depot
12.
As a name and shame addition, I just had a birthday present unceremoniously dumped in our general waste rubbish bin from YODEL. no attempt made to knock on the door loudly, as we were both in the kitchen about 4 meters away from the front door, with the door open. I understand that 1 min of waiting per address could add 1 hour if you have 60 deliveries, but surely the point of a delivery service is that you at least have enough time programmed into your deliveries to account for 1 min of searching at the property before dumping it in a BIN filled with RUBBISH... because it is a RUBBISH BIN!! If you don't want to spend the time searching then at least be honest enough to say, we offer you delivery at this price (probably £1 lower than the competition) but we will leave the parcel somewhere and won't bother looking for you. If you want your parcel to be delivered to you and someone to spend the time searching for you then please use our competitor who offers a guarantee to spend time at your property looking for you. This will cost £X more. Simple. But no, lets all just dump parcels somewhere and not give a $£&%.
60 parcels a day! Round my way the drivers have over 120 parcels a day, and with 'pressure' from management to 'not' return any they dont have the luxury to build in waiting time. In my experience some people have totally unrealistic expectations where cheap couriers are concerned
13.
"Interesting, I usually ask from any deliveries made to my home to be dropped over the side gate if I'm out. I have built a little 'doo dah' that my parcels drop onto to cushion the blow" So who exactly signs for these deliveries ? The driver ? Getting serious deja vu here.
Doesn't need to be signed for. Sorry for the de ja vu
14. Interesting, I usually ask from any deliveries made to my home to be dropped over the side gate if I'm out. I have built a little 'doo dah' that my parcels drop onto to cushion the blow I would rather deal with a wet cardboard box than what the neighbours have historically done to my parcels.
15. I'm not sure they actually made a 'bad' bass?
16. Is he a 'big' seller, or just a few bits? It seems that many people take a very casual attitude towards selling on Ebay; you may find he's completely forgotten about any listings and gone on holliday for a fortnight! Although I can see that this probably doesn't make you feel any better Personally, when I sell an item on Ebay I make a point of 'firing off' a "thanks for the payment, I'll get this shipped off to you ASAP" type message just to confirm all is well. But simple things like this that put a buyers mind at ease are obviously too much for some, and many sellers avoid any more contact than they feel is necessary
17.
I disagree with this. . . a lot! If you want to do it properly every bass line needs maximum focus and concentration.
Also, as I found from personal experience, the 'tribute band audience' will probably know what you're playing at least as well as you!
18. I think there are three different types of covers band. 1 Tongue in cheek/piss taking, treat the whole thing like a joke and think the audience will too 2. They are serious and reasonably true to the original, but make small changes that will be guaranteed to annoy the hell out of a knowledgable audience 3 Are true/accurate to the original, with all those little bits that a knowledgable audience will appreciate, not only in sound but even make a serious attempt to dress and act like the original In my opinion
19.
Towngate Theatre by chance?
Just got home from this gig. Turned out that for some reason "hells bells" were replaced at the last minute by "wholelottaDC". I was mightly impressed. Been home 2hrs and my ears are still ringing!
20. Sorry for hijacking your thread but did he play 'its a love thing' by The Whispers too?
21.
a lot cleaner and more like a normal bass these days
The improvements in PA's has to have something to do with it though
22.
It didn't. I play for hundreds of hours a year and I don't have blisters or callouses. If you're in pain when you play you're doing it wrong. Never mind your fingers, you're risking RSI.
Strangely I never suffered from callouses. Although apparently I have hands like bunches of banana's
23.
Who are the 2 bald fellas hiding behind the guitar?
you're not supposed to notice the 2 bald fellas or the 3hrs of hair and make up! But focus on the 'tone' instead!
24. You're right its good
25.
?
+1
