Oh yeah, but let's keep an eye on budget! I should have said sub-Roadworn money...
-
Can anyone suggest a precision with a 1.75" wide nut? Fender 50s Roadworn (and other 50s varieties) Fender Roger Waters I believe some Steve Harris sigs. Anything else I've missed? Doesn't have to be Fender...

The bighead is awesome. Totally worth the money. If you use an apple iphone the Irig is a good suggestion. You don't have to use effects and amp sims just because they're there! There's the Zoom B1ON to consider if you don't want to spend as much as that. It's not rechargeable but you could run it on rechargeable AA's... Bit of a faff though...

Around "Ten Summoners Tales" time he was alternating between a 60's jazz and a graphite necked (Moses I believe) precision bitsa. Haven't seen him play anything but a 50's P (or replica thereof) in quite a while... Other than a lute of course...

For a change the drilling isn't the only bit I'm dreading! I've decided I'm going to have a go at housing both the Antique and Drive pedals in the one etched enclosure. Never etched anything before...

Eventually made a start on my Guma Antique. PCB went together really quickly. Fully populated (minus pots, jacks, psu, led as not sure what way i'll do them yet) in less than an hour, SMD included. I'll do the Drive before the end of the week then get on to the enclosure. Not looking forward to that bit!
That bass Callowhill bass is pretty cool. Sadly Tim Cloonan (Callowhill builder/owner) recently passed so I'm not sure if any more new Callowhill basses will surface.
That is pretty much my ideal bass I think... Awful news about Tim Cloonan.

Quite the collection for a drummer!

Hmm... We'll have to agree to disagree on that one...

Not sure I understand exactly what you're after. Doesn't the behringer you linked to have the functionality you want using the ALT34 outputs and panning each pair of channels hard left and right?

Hi folks, I'm clearing house as I'm not playing enough to justify these boutique pedals. Pics to follow this evening. 3Leaf Enabler: [s]£190[/s] SOLD!!! Decided I couldn't live without this pedal... and have subsequently played with it about half a dozen times. This is the 3rd of these I've owned and they are EXCELLENT, but I'm not gigging and could use the money for other projects. [s]3Leaf PWNZOR: £140[/s] SOLD!!! Long discontinued 3Leaf compressor. I hated compressors until I played this, but same story as the Enabler. Not getting used enough. Very much in the tone enhancing vein of compression. [s]COG TK-421-X custom: £85[/s] SOLD!!! Great RAT-type pedal from Tom at COG, who makes just the best of stuff going. This is a custom version of his TK-421-X as, in addition to the low-pass filters on the clean and drive channels, also has a high-pass filter on the drive channel. Capable of gentle grit to full on NASTY! [s]COG "Knightfall on Jupiter" Custom Knightfall/Darklighter: £110[/s] SOLD!!! As featured on Tom's custom page: "Darklighter with expanded active EQ and Knightfall with three clipping options (LED, MOSFET, Silicon) selected by the D switch. The O switch changes the signal order from Knightfall > Darklighter to Darklighter > Knightfall." Another rather lovely pedal that I haven't enough time to enjoy... Cave In "Night Fall on Jupiter" etch. All prices include shipping to UK. No trades unless you have a Novation Bass Station 2 or equivalent knocking around! Ta Ian
It's the circuit that eventually became the Electronix Submarine preamp. Are they still manufactured?
And what he said!
Have you seen Albert Kreuzer's design for an onboard preamp? It's a nicely thought out FET preamp with a single knob tone control. It's a shame there doesn't seem to be be any commercial preamps with this topology, as it would also suit the OP's requirements nicely. www.albertkreuzer.com/preamp_onboard.htm
I have indeed. It (along with Albert Kreuzer's rack preamp) has been on my to do list for YEARS. It was the basis for the idea. Kreuzer's preamp is the basis for the Fuzzrocious BDPG (with a modded LPB1 pushing the input) and Zeibek Submarine preamp.

Great... Now I want to cut my fingers off...

Doubtful it'll happen. Zoom are grudgingly interested in bass players at best...
My favourite is still the Clavia Nord Lead. Although I pretty much stopped looking at new synths after I got mine, because it does just about everything I want from a synth. A second-hand MK1 will be somewhere around the £400 mark for the keyboard version and a bit less for the rack.
Just double what I'd like to spend!
-
Any analogue or virtual analogue synth with dual oscillators, cross-mod and oscillator sync, a filter that will go into self-oscillation and a separate envelope generator for the filter and the amplifier.
Any examples you can think of? Not well up on this stuff and that's quite a shopping list!
-
But while we're on the subject, what budget synth could do the Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan and Mr. Mars' bass sounds? Around a couple of ton, so no Minitaur type suggestions! The Bass Station sounds wicked in Si's link!
-
Big muff style tone control mounted on the back of a pot maybe? Something I've been mulling over building for a while!!!
Or just do it with a bass: https://youtu.be/1XmcX9x4OqY Still pretty great!
Absolutely no need for synth when you can play it like that. Awesome.
