3.
Yes!
Someday that bass (or one very like it) will be mine..... Should have bought it before Flanker got his mits on it!!!
4. Hi guys, This is a great wee pedal after modding. Might have to get one myself or build one from scratch (there are a few extra mods I'd like to try but there's def not enough room in the nano to fit them all!). You need to use miniature pots for the mod though, and even then it's a VERY tight squeeze! I used 10k pots and removed the 4.7k series surface mount resistor from the circuit as suggested by someone (in French!) online. I think I'd try 5k pots next time as the lower end of the pot range doesn't seem to do very much - Gareth could maybe confirm that, I'm not much of an envelope filter user. It does allow you to totally turn off either filter though so maybe worthwhile depending on the application. Only thing that really annoys me is that you can't quite line the new pots up with the existing one and the distortion switch, but then I'm a sucker for presentation! Here's the pots I used for Gareth's pedal if anyone else wants to attempt the mod: http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/search/productd...jsp?SKU=RE04203 Cheers Ian
5.
OT - but who'd be up for an Irish Bass Bash sometime, perhaps in the New Year?
Oh yes!
6. I love all my basses, but the JO has to be on top. Just sounds right every time (even straight into the PA when required)! Don't know why I keep GASing for anything else - I have most/all angles covered! Would like a nice P-bass though...
7. Didn't the Yamaha John Myung sig basses have a really narrow neck?
8.
Marcus Miller has a Sadowsky preamp in his Jazz..unless he has changed it..
Nope, and never has. It's a Bart TCT installed by Mr. Sadowsky. It predates the Sad preamp.
9.
what its got a Sadowsky preamp?? PM,d
Neither does Marcus... his is Bartolini Very sweet looking bass!
10. Seriously! (bother's stag-do bump!)
11. This won't last long! This used to be mine. Great bass! If I didn't have my Lakland this'd be coming back over the Irish sea!
12. Have to say I've always been tempted by these. If I ever needed a 'ray tone my Bongo couldn't do it would be one of these I'd go for. A/B'ed one against a 'ray in Glasgow on my last trip over. The ATK ate the 'ray for breakfast... Have a bump!
13.
It has a curious Vol pot with an off click built in - is the Pro series the same? I've not heard of another Custom that has one.
My old Wal had this too. Apparently this was on quite a few early 80's Wals but the jig to add this feature to the pot broke and it would have cost too much to fix it.
14. I have Gareth Hughes' Ernie Mcmillen 4 on loan at the minute while he has my Lakland JO ltd ed. It's great having people relatively local to you so you can try out new gear. Love it! Have to say I'd be more warry (sp?) if I hadn't already dealt with G, but he's a star so no worries!
15. I'll second the Line6 Studio 110. Great wee amp. Not a very loud 75 watts, but what do you really expect from a 12" cube with 1 10" speaker! I gig with mine DI'd into the band PA too. I was going to suggest Ashdown as well - the original ABMs can be had in combo form quite cheaply s/h. The 1x10 200 watt (although it's really 300 watts) combo is fantastic and from the era when Ashdown were more reliable! Had mine a long time now and it's never coughed once.
16.
Found myself in an odd transient situation today so I thought I'd post a pic:
Read this before the pic appeared... was a bit worried for a second! Have to say I'm still P-curious, even after 2 failed attempts. Don't think I gave either bass a fair crack of the whip. Maybe someday soon I can try again. Nice wee collection OG!
17. A Warwick with a nice wenge neck would be my choice. It'd cut through a dense guitar and drum mix like the proverbial hot knife... Hence why my goto metal bass is my Warwick Corvette. There was one for sale here the other week for £350. Spend the other £150 on a set of heavy guage strings and a Sansamp VT Bass and you're set!
18. I had a noodle on this bass at Gareth's gaff a few months back. It's a corker! Didn't know it was a 36" - it was very comfortable. I also have Gareth's Ernie Macmillan 4 string on loan at the minute. That man knows what makes a good bass. Blows the Wal I used to own right out of the water! Deal with confidence here chaps. Gareth's a star!
19. Going on the Fenders and Laklands I've played, the Laklands win every time. Maybe don't feel quite as vintage as some Fenders but they've got it everywhere else. I'm a jazz bass man myself...

21. I can't see that Roscoe Beck hanging around too long. Awesome basses and very sought after (just look at the wanted section here - get the title of your post changed too mate!). They only have 1 volume and 1 tone control as standard, btw. That's why you'd need a new pickguard to reverse the changes.
22. +1 on the great reply. I for one couldn't have gone softly into the night without knowing reasons and would not have been as nice in my reply (so would probably have burnt bridges and not heard back from from them as to why!)...
