1. Having owned a Wal I have to say, in MY opinion, I wouldn't be in a hurry to own another one, especially given their current premium price. Are they good? Sure. Are they £4k good? Not in my view. I've found basses that fit me better for a fraction of the price, and have a full-on ACG custom coming at half the price of the last USED Wal I saw on here. However... if you have an itch that needs scratched, it's unlikely that anything but a Wal will satisfy you. I'm just glad I scratched said itch when I could get a Wal for mid 3 figures, rather than the current mid 4 figures! If only the same could be said for my current pre-CBS precision Gas...
 2. I like the cut of your gib Sir!
 3.
So you like Aguilar 😄 I looked those but the tonehammer only does 500w, they recommend 1000w for my cab 😢
Eh? You're coming from 500w? ONLY 500w... What's the cab?
 4.
Glad to hear it. But the fort knox security still puts me off. I prefer to walk in and trundle round these shops at my leisure.
I commented on this on a visit a few years back and was regaled with the tale of the runaway Warwick Streamer, returned to the shop after a short trip up the road under a ner-do-well's jacket. Before the extension there would frequently be a single person available to look after the 2 floors so you can see the need for the security when just inside the door sat, very conservatively, 80 - 100k of unguarded stock...
 5.
Pics now added
Can't see your pics Tony
 6.
Didn't get anything :/
Me neither...
 7. Cool. Hopefully get 2 out of 3 this time then!
 8.
Not necessarily. I'm in Newcastle, so I could collect it for you. I spend most weekends at my caravan near Stranraer in South west Scotland. I could meet you at the ferry terminal, so all you'd need to do is get to Belfast or Larne and come across as a foot passenger (costs about a fiver I think)... Same applies to anyone who lives on or near the A69/A75 route Is this helping at all?
That's no help at all! He says, trying to keep his unexpected Christmas bonus tucked away (from the wife and you Basschat enablers) to pay the balance on his incoming ACG...
 9.
Ha ha, that saves me agonising about it then
Me too!
 10. And the cheaper Les Paul... hedging my bets. Probably prefer it since it doesn't have a bound neck and is a little less bling.
 11. In for the 75 and the dearer Les Paul as well. See what happens!
 12.
Thanks for that though I'm not really sure what you mean. Do you mean a higher voltage capacitor?
Yes, caps have a voltage rating. It's possible the cap in question is underrated, or it may point to a fault down the line causing the voltage across the cap to be higher than it was rated for. A decent tech should be able to tell you what's going on.

 14.
How about a little update to finish the year L-R: 1971 Fender Precision (34") Maruszczyk Jake custom (33") Fodera Matt Garrison Standard (33") Fender Japan Jazz (32") Si
Oh come now, there's 14 days left in the year!
 15.
4 string progger for anyone...? https://m.thomann.de...arch=1450348730 Erm, and apparently a 75er, that was sold out when I started to type this post...? 16. It's maybe not rated to a high enough voltage. You could try replacing it with a higher voltage one.
 17. These are fantastic sounding headphones. I use them with a PJB Bighead and they sound IMMENSE!
 18. There was somebody looking a thunderbird in the wanted section. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/275059-grecoorvilleburnyother-mij-thunderbird/page__pid__2930167#entry2930167 Lovely looking bass by the way!
 19.
Excellent looking boards as usual! Not much has changed for me but I've reacquired a Whammy for lead playing on top of loops. I'm looking at grabbing a Boomerang III (and perhaps a BeatBuddy) sometime next year to expand some ideas I've been working on....
Nice board! What's the pedal on the top left feeding the ditto?
 20.
Bet your back was relieved, though!
Yeah, probably weighed about the same as the Peavey 8x10 I used to have... Still have the odd twinge in my lower back over that one!
 21. This is all making me very nostalgic... doesn't help that I missed a 300w 4x10 SMX combo about 5 miles away last week by 20 minutes... for £150...
 22. Yeah mismatch is probably too strong a description I know, but they're not an ideal pairing like the identical TKS cabs (but for the tweeter!). Interesting to hear the differences in the 2 cabs and I know what you mean about hard to describe - it's like telling people how 2 different brands of chocolate differ in taste!
 23.
Do they have a standard Fender-sized bell plate?
No idea. I'll have to measure and see. Enjoying playing it too much to be too bothered by it at the minute!
 24. When I left my first band the guy that replaced me used one and it was loud enough at full tilt to keep up with a reasonably animalistic drummer and 2 50w guitar combos, no lie. It was the 80 watt version. I really liked the sound of it actually. More focused and punchy than whatever I was using at the time. Would like to get hold of one myself! If I remember correctly the 130 watt version had a horn pasted on as an afterthought...
