Back to using a board rather than the rack, think i'm settled although a B7K Ultra is a possibility?
What size board is that? Pedaltrain mini or metro something or other?

Not one, but 2 responses to my Enabler wanted ad this evening, so the search is over. Happy days! Now... Do I want to replace the PWNZOR I sold too?...

Cool in-laws! Mine buy me pants (along with the annual "is Ian large or extra large" joke!) and socks...

I've just agreed to buy my brother's ex-gigging Seagull Duet. Rosewood back and sides and cedar top with LR Baggs duet II preamp. It isn't pretty (had a proper playing life and just been refretted), but sounds BEAUTIFUL! I've never played a Seagull I didn't like to be honest, although the only one I've owned before was one of their parlour guitars about 10 years ago. Even it sounded deep and rich even accounting for its size.
If you go DHA get the most recent model as the older ones supposedly have noisy headphone amps!
I very much doubt I'd go with DHA. I'm probably being unfair, but I've yet to see one that doesn't look like it was thrown together on a Friday afternoon in a GCSE Technology class. The attention to detail just isn't there. They may sound well (although with a starved plate design I'm not convinced), but they look... unfinished is probably the kindest way to put it. The control layout looks haphazard. When he doesn't take the time to even deburr his tube cooling holes I have to ask what else isn't getting done. Look at the DIYStompboxes forum (or the DIY thread here!) and most DIY builders make better looking pedals. DHA should spend a bit more time on layouts, farm out his enclosures for etching/milling/finishing so they look professional, charge a few quid more for the privilege (prices are certainly on the better side of good for the feature set) and then fickle folk like me wouldn't be judging on appearances... IMHO, YMMV, etc. etc.
http://www.davehalla...uk/page53a.html I got a DHA VT1-EQ-DI Mk 2 and have been notheing but impressed. Used to own an enabler too.
Yeah you bought your enabler from me! Hadn't considered DHA stuff - had one of his compressors a few years back that has perhaps tarnished my view of his entire line a bit...
Was going to suggest the PJB Bighead but it doesn't have a thru output, it's designed to be used more for headphone practice. But if that's all you want it for I can thoroughly recommend!
Already have a bighead (which is excellent, by the way!), but want the extra functionality the Enabler offers... and it's sturdy enough to go on a pedal board... and runs off 9v... This thread only goes to highlight something I've come to realise myself after trying out quite a few filters over the years (not as many as some here!). Filters are a VERY personal thing, more heavily reliant on the person playing them (and their equipment and setup) than pretty much any other effect. What works best for one person may be a steaming pile of poo for the next person!!!

Good call on the Ampeg. That's a possibility, if I can live with the baked-in Ampeg-ness! An sfx custom isn't beyond the realms of possibility either I suppose... Must send a wee query email through.

Can anyone suggest an alternative to the discontinued 3leaf enabler? I've had 2 before and regret selling them both. Now I want another there are none around! Anyone suggest an alternative that has the same functionality? Only thing I can think of is the EBS Microbass but it doesn't have the dedicated Aux-in for headphones only (for IEM use - looking ahead here!).
I would very much like to be top of the queue, thanks.
PM me your address Gary. I'll pop it in the post tomorrow.

With A View from the Side, musician Michael Visceglia attempts to give the reader a window in which to view the lives, aspirations, adventures and misadventures, phenomenal successes and tragic failures of some of the leading practitioners of an art that he is intimately familiar with: playing the bass. Through stories of his own experiences, along with the interviews and profiles of his influential peers, Visceglia provides a compelling look at the nature of the pursuit of the artistic life. Good for a once through! Form a queue!

It's the distorted sound after 3 or 4 seconds that doesn't sound right to me. All analogue octavers will lose the note after a period of time, but lose a good note in 3 seconds? Not on any I've played. And it wouldn't distort, it'd dance around the note it'd been on previously for a while.

Something not right. I had one briefly and the tracking was excellent - I have heard some folk say they've had tracking issues with them though...

I hated the AG500 I had. Couldn't get a sound out of it that I liked. I haven't heard a bad report about the TH series really so don't see how it would be much of a downgrade. Totally different tone though. Fat and vintage. I've been keeping an eye on used prices for the Tonehammer series. The 350 seems to hover around £300 to £330. The 500 just over £100 more.

Sounds typical of playing lower notes on the neck (typically lower than an A, but I've seen worse cases), but shouldn't be breaking up so soon higher up the neck. With Octave pedals there's a lot to consider to ensure clean tracking. Keep it as close to the beginning of your chain as possible. A clean sounding bass setup is important too. Fret rattle can play havoc with tracking, as can dead notes on the neck.

Excellent work. I love it!

For more peaky filter sounds I'd say the MXR BEF would be a safe bet.

39 in a fortnight. Head says I'm still in my early 20's, body doesn't know what's going on!

I'd second trying out a Sire. I haven't had a JO5 personally, but have had a 55-01, a 55-02dlx and a JO4. I'd rate the Sire as at least level with the best of them overall... The Lakland 5 necks are pretty special though!
Mine doesn't do the volume drop either. Tvr, I reckon with that and the binding issue you've got perfectly valid reasons to request a replacement from Thomann. Get in touch with them, I reckon.
I'd second that. The fret alone is enough reason. -
