I might as well turn this into a general HandBox chat thread... They've just posted details of a prototype they're working on, on Facebook - here's an approximate translation (thanks, Google!). "Two-Channel hybrid head, with five tubes in the pre. The first channel is modelled on the Ampeg tone stack which uses three of the tubes, and is 'thick, dirty and heavy'. The other channel is inspired by Fender with more typical 3-band passive EQ, and using two tubes for a cleaner tone. The masterpiece is a hybrid driver module that gives it close to the unmistakeable full-tube tone. It will put out 600w @ 4Ohm and has friendly feature-weighs 4 times less than a tube equivalent." It's overkill for my needs, but my gosh it looks fun...
That. Looks. AWESOME!!!
Not the same as the Blueberry, but similar in an amp - style overdrive kind of way...I used to use my SFT, and now use my COG Knightfall before the TK-421-X, and it drives it really nicely. I now keep the Knightfall on all the time, and kick on the TK when I need a gnarly, grindy boost!
Thanks! Exactly what I wanted to hear. Have made the move but haven't tried it yet as I have family staying for a few days.

Thanks Owen. Was worried they were too good to be true at the price.

OK, so my recent pedal building frenzy means I have LOTS of pedals that won't fit on my 1st gen Pedaltrain Mini. I'd like to get something that's at least twice the pedal area, but as cheap as possible. The Harley Benton pedaltrain rip-offs, specifically the Spaceship 60: http://www.thomann.d...paceship_60.htm) look reasonably good. Does anyone have first hand experience with them, or could anyone suggest something equivalent?

Surprised nobody has asked this yet. How is it compared to the Walkabout WoT?

Hi folks, Recently bought this from Danbowskill to try with my new band. Turns out I prefer the TK-421-X I also bought from ratman so this one has to go. It's the recent, made in Finland 2.0 version with the added cut setting on the attack switch. I much prefer it to the previous USA version I owned, but find Darkglass pedals as a whole just aren't the drive sound in my head. Call me odd. Pics later. Price is £108 plus postage (odd number I know, but it's what I paid!). NOW TRADED, SORRY! Cheers Ian

As above, just sold Martin a Carl Martin compressor. Pleasure to deal with!

I've actually dealt with Alex twice in as many months. Traded my PJB Bighead for his Zoom MS60b and more recently bought a COG TK-421_X from him, which is rather excellent! Great communication and shipping was swift. Wouldn't hesitate to deal with Alex again.

Who would have thought there could be so much mileage in the big muff tone stack! Does sound good in the clips!
I would definitely have the Blueberry early in the chain. I don't like what it does to other distortion pedals, I would prefer to have the option of using it to boost into the Big Muff instead.
Sounds about what I was thinking. I'd read that Ryan Ratajski of Fuzzrocious doesn't recommend stacking his Dark Driving (which is basically Blueberry-ish) after other drive pedals.
that is a very nice board! Andy
Thanks Andy!

Here's where my PT Mini currently stands. PWNZOR > TK-421-X > Musket clone > Modified BJFE Blueberry clone > Enabler. Need better patch leads (EBS look good)... and possibly something double the size judging by the number of REALLY GOOD spare pedals I have sitting around that didn't make the cut! The mess of leads is making my OCD do nasty things... Questions for the collective. Should I move the Blueberry in front of the COG? It'll be on most of the time in this setup...
-
Back in the COG club again with a TK-421-X custom with additional HPF on the dirty side (thanks ratman!). This thing rocks in a big way. So versatile and I haven't even explored the internal settings yet!

I believe it is from the Steve Bailey series. There was also a 4 string... I have an old bassist magazine somewhere with Carol Kate sporting the 4 string.
Surely if it's a parametric pedal the frequency sweep control should cover a big enough range for it not to have to be bass-specific?
Well it's a bass specific forum...
If you don't want to go down the route of a paralooper, just take a look at the Fuzz Dog Blender kit, nice with the onboard pot. Or JMK did a nice layout if you're not fussed about onboard pot: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3414.0;attach=2704 Si
A paralooper might be a handy pedal to have anyway... Don't just have to have a muff in the loop. And I have all the bits for one lying around. I think I've talked myself into one!
-
There was an EWS BMC in the effects for sale forum this morning for very little money... Edit: Here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/283043-darkglass-b3k-l115-and-ews-bass-mid-control-l45/

I tried running the Musket into the TFR. That was just silly. Either into the B3K was quite nice though! Just added a little more bite.
-
Thought I'd give a quick update. Last night was the first opportunity I had to sit down with the TFR and Musket pedals I built. The Musket is the hands down winner for me. So flexible and can get SUPER aggressive. Just haven't clicked with the TFR, although I'm not convinced I haven't made a boo boo somewhere in the build! It sounds REALLY congested, although it has lots of the standard TFR cap values replaced with higher values for bass use. I think further tinkering is required so I'll add a blend and mid control while I'm at it. Maybe add switchable diode options too...
If you're building it yourself, then really it's choosing the base circuit then picking the mods that suit you. For me, on bass anyway, the Green Russian Muff is the best starting point, mod for lower frequencies it you like, add mids, a blend of you like, done. I built a GGG green Russian, added a mids pot and it's very cool! Si
Any suggestions on a decent blend circuit Si? Is a paralooper overkill?
