I've been using the XR-18 for since they first came out and I have nothing but praise for the mixer. Yes, the software is a bit all over the place with different versions doing different things (X-Air edit on Mac or PC having different features, same with iPad and Android apps) but other than that its fine. I use X-Air Edit on the Mac at home to setup the mixer for a gig, then use an iPad mini from the stage to mix the show. Generally, I can do most of what I want to do on the iPad. I do use an external router (AirPort Express because I wanted the ability to have the iPad connected wirelessly and the Mac connected over Ethernet to record, but I've never actually gotten around to doing this. Finally, if you have one, or are considering buying one, I'd recommend joining the Behringer X-Air forum on their website. Loads of really useful end user experience and advice and guidance.
Thanks JPJ for thel info and the forum details, very helpful. I have tried out the X18/iPad in rehearsal and am very impressed. Also very nice the way it interfaces with Behringer's own monitoring system (P16 personal monitors). ATB, Paul.

Although we might lament the rising cost of new Aguilar, it does mean that the Aguilar equipment we have will maintain its second hand value..........

Thanks for the info. Could one use something like Airport Express?

I suspect the partnering is important, in terms of getting the best out of the amp. A change of situation might be best adapted to by change of instrument rather than change of amplification? After all the general principle is to amplify the bass to present its true sounds. I heard some bass player change instrument for a song, but the sound remains the same, as the centre of gravity is taken up by the amp..........
Yes, XR18 - do it. Although you probably want to budget for an external router also.
Is the internal router not up to the job?

Have been using a Behringer Xenyx 2442 usb mixer for PA and monitoring using Behringer personal monitor mixers, but am thinking of moving over to the Behringer X18 Air Mixer unit with an iPad. Just wondering if anyone has used the X18 and would wish to share their thoughts? Regards, Paul.
I have this bass, strung with flats, it's so much fun to play.
Me too, found the shape difficult to adapt to, but now I'm used to it, it's my go to bass....... If you are in two minds about buying this bass.... go for it. GLWTS, PM. -

Sold Fender Road Worn P Bass inc postage in the UK
paulmcnamara replied to richardd's topic in Basses For Sale
With the nitro finish the wood can breathe and, as a result over time as the wood changes, it begins to sound different. This is why the pre CBS guitars are hard to emulate in sound because you have the effect of 50 years of change having taken place to the wood. With the CBS models onwards where you have non porous finishes, it is generally felt that the wood doesn't contribute to any change of sound due to raging...... e.g. from pick ups and other contributing factors. How much you can apply this to a Road Worn model which is more recent, I don't know........ -
I have this same model; they really are superb. Fullerton History: (from a Fullerton Strat ad) 1982 fullerton factory fender '62 reissue stratocaster. serial #V000410, making it one of the earliest known fullerton factory pieces. neck dates to '82 although a little faded because of the pencil numbering, confirming this. for those less familiar with the fullerton factory, it was fender's first return to the pre-cbs leo fender era of making guitars. these are known as some of the best instrument fender produced since '64. built on the pre-cbs machines to vintage spec by master technicians, these instruments play like butter and sound as close as you'll get to a legitimate pre-cbs fender. not to mention, this neck is stamped "J. Torres", one of the most famous fender neck builders ever. just google "j torres fender" and see what people have to say about the quality of his necks. GLWTS, Paul.

What a thread! Lots of interesting views and experience. I would support the theory that generally you get what you pay for. Have used LD 100 budget system but quality was poor. Went to a wired system using Fischer headphone amp, very flexible. Now using Behringer Personal Monitor System 16. Good value and ideal when some band members want to do IEM and others want wedges. And like so many on this thread I use ACS earphones (custom). The advantages with using custom made earpieces is that no person's two ear canals are the same size so with 'of the shelf' earplugs/phones etc. one will alway fit better than the other. Also hearing protection is a major factor to consider and therefore good fitting ear moulds help here too.
