The detune mode is beautiful on fretless and the possible harmonies on bass look promising........... In my band many of our songs are capo-ed and to change pitch accurately is a real boon!

Just taken the plunge to get one of these............. does anyone have any experience of this or similar......

Having recently posted my rig from a few years ago, this is my current rig……

This is my Ibanez SR2600 Cerulean Blue Burst, which I became interested in after seeing Dave Pegg of Fairport Convention using the 5 string version. They are beautifully made and well finished with massive tonal options and what a colour finish........... To protect such an instrument I opted for the Warwick all leather soft case.

My Lockdown Project......... Although I love the white finish, I have been thinking of painting it "a la Guy Berryman" style just for a change!

As reported in a previous thread, back in 2012, I visited a relatively new Nash dealer: Westside MI in Denmark Street, London, (a shop that has sadly since disappeared, like so may of recent times). My aim was to see, feel and hear for myself just how good Nash basses were. I have to say that I came away a little underwhelmed after trying out a couple of Precisions and Jazzes. Whilst the finishes were very good, the feel was generally okay if a bit on the heavy side, but none of the basses I tried that day had the resonant sound of my two Fender Jazzes. It was an interesting visit, and I came away satisfied, in the sense that I had tried them, and could tell myself that at that time, Nash basses were probably not for me. But I have never forgotten them........... Wind forward 13 years and I have just travelled back from Bass Direct at Warwickshire, as the proud owner of a Nash 52 Precision (Butterscotch Blonde) which sounds amazing. Whilst at Bass Direct, which was my first visit, due to the distance, I received a warm welcome, with plenty of time to "try out" a number of Nash's including a PB 55, a PB 57, and a PB 63 as well as the PB 52 which I settled on. My feeling was that the Nash basses had come a long way from my trip to London back in 2012. Of all the basses I tried, I would have been more than happy to have brought home any of them with me. I settled on the 52 as it had great feel, super sound and just looks so cool. My thanks to all at Bass Direct for making the experience so good and to Bill Nash for making some superb basses. Ad Multos Annos!

There's an interesting account of how the post covid lockdown boom affected the retail music industry and as it expanded, venture capitalists took over PMT and other chains........ when the market began to shrink in the last year or so....... the big profits to satisfy the VC's wasn't there.... hence the closures. Apparently Hobgoblin in London is Paul McCartney's favourite music shop....... it's spitting distance from his MPL Offices in Soho Square. Maybe he'll invest in the company?

DV24 are still in Romford, just around the corner from PMT but DV24 are online only now. They seem to keep stock at Romford as well as Germany. Although PMT has been my local music shop, I've tended towards Andertons or Thomann as they were generally more competitive. Hobgoblin, the folk music chain have recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for their shops and are offering a 19% ownership share of the company through the raising of capital. They are obviously feeling the pinch......

They seem to be selling like hot cakes....... Most suppliers are waiting for new stock. Last night Gear4music had 5 in stock..... all gone by late this morning!

Just wondering why PMT price this combo at £1939.00 whilst Thomann can sell it for £1399.00. Seems like a vast difference!
