  1. If you download the manual for the TH 500 from the Aguilar website, there is a section in there that explains the relationship between the gain, drive and the EQ, especially the mid. It encourages one to experiment..... might be worth a look.
  2. Has anyone knowledge or experience of: the Laney Lfr112? Apparently it can be used for a number of different instruments...........
  3. What about the Bose S1, has anyone any experience of it?
  4. This is indeed an interesting FRFR thread, so much so , that it takes me back to the mid 1970's when I first picked up the bass, and for several years played through a Carlsbro Marlin PA amp and 4 x 12 speaker cabinet owing to the fact that I needed an amp into which I could put a couple of mics as well as my bass guitar and EKO bass pedals. My bass sound was generally pretty thin and lack lustre until I eventually got a rather beefy Carlsbro bass combo and gradually upgraded and improved the bass sound over the years. So it seemes like we've come full circle where I might need to be looking at getting a powered PA cab to hook up with my Helix LT. I presently use an aguilar TH500 and 2 SL112 cabs. I've not had the chance to try out the Helix with the Aguilar yet but plan on using the power section of the amp pro tem. Thanks for all your interesting comments and ideas on this thread.

    FRFR?

I am a Helix user but am investigating FRFR amps/cabs. Posts I've seen are a bit old and obviously I'm looking at the latest technology. Can anyone explain the breadth of FRFR because some bassists seem to opt for PA active units but these still have a boundaries frequency response I.E. 50 -16000, So my Aguilar cabinet goes down to 37 hertz but low synth and bass pedals might need lower than PA's 50 hertz....... any thoughts on capturing the range needed?

  10. Boss ME-50B Bass Multiple Effects: I took delivery of this unit on Friday 10thAugust from Thomann (paperwork available). So it is just a week old. I have decided that, good as it is, I actually need something different and will probably go down the Line 6 route to cater for bass and guitar in one unit. So if you would like a brand new, boxed, unit with a saving on the retail price (£203), this might suit. I also have a brand new Spider pedal board and case which suits the ME-50B ideally (cost £43) will throw in for extra £30 + Postage. Any questions, please ask.
  11. MXR ISO-BRICK, Mint, 6 months old, little use, comes complete with the Iso Brick, 18 volt adapter, and a set of DC leads, original box; retails at £140. This is the better of the 2 versions with complete isolation from noise interference hum etc, brilliant for recording where quiet operating is essential. Multiple settings available for all your pedals............. Post at cost...... insured or uninsured............
