1. Whoa, that's quite an achievement, selling the same bass twice in two days.
2. a drop in volume, rattles, pops, glowing output valves, decreasing attack, lack of gain. Things like that generally.
3. I was curious because it says minimum 'loads' on each output ie 4 on each, suggesting a 2 ohm minimum. But perhaps it is as you say 4 ohm (ie 2 8s). I'd like to have one of these one day, as an alternative to my AD200. Must keep an eye out in London though.
4. So you ran an 8 ohm cab fine. I guess it's a minimum 4 ohm load then?
5. You ought to try the 'For Sale' section
6.
Or the plain old Sansamp does the job. Must try one of these VT jobbies soon for a comparison.
I have both. I was thinking about reviewing the differences (imo) at some point. I've had a BDDI for about 4 years and i recently bought a VT pedal from dave_bass5. +1 for the VT bass. I use it when going through a MAG300 to get a valvey sound. Having played through SVT-CLs, it works a treat. Turn the 'character' knob down for Motown. It'll certainly fatten up your tone. Oh also, try the EHX English Muffin. It has 2 valves in it. You can turn the gain right down and still get the fattness. It has a responsive EQ on it. A bit big and has a not so great power supply though (not your standard)
7. What kind of music do you play in your band, Chris?
8. yeah, they stopped in early february, was it? They're selling on ebay now only.
9.
I looked at the Fender and imagine the tone is sweet, but prefer the flexibility of seperate head & cabs C
Me too, i wish they did a head version.
10.
I think the Fender's quite weighty also?
Roughly 20kg the TV 12, which is about 4kg lighter than my Orange AD200 alone. The 210AV cabs seem to be about 12kg. How light is the head, about 5kg?
11. Thanks for coming back to us on that. I'm sort of considering one of these, or a Fender TV Bassman 12", as a nice home/possibly recording/possibly light weight small gig rig. I get the feeling the Fender might have a more pleasing tone, but there's something about the micro VR - i love the look of it, plus you can add an extra cab. I'll be recording with its big daddy this weekend.
12. imo the VT pedal does a very good job of emulating the SVT sound.
13. I'm going the opposite way. I may likely be selling stuff soon.
14.
...my question is: why is it that I am having so much fun with this cheapo Squier compared to all of the other more expensive ones listed?
A. It has exceeded your expectations. B. You've realised you don't need 'bells and whistles' to have a great bass (it's a precision after all)
15. I have the T-REx Junior as well. It's perfect. No hum etc. Don't buy cheap, as you will just end up spending more on another one. Get one with isolated outputs (like the T-Rex).
16. The DB series cabs are great. I wouldn't tinker with mine.
17. Some Fender sound bites here. Quite useful, as you can select different mixes to hear - full band/drums & bass/bass only. The songs also feature the different TV amps and different Fender basses ('51P, AM P, RW Jazz, Deluxe Jazz). It says what the gear is on screen too. 18.
greed on the part of the promoter.
Usually the case, i find.
19. So essentially false advertising, without even any small print. Looks like the sort of online people i like to avoid.
20. er, lol. They've priced the 150W 10" the same as the 350W 2x10 Has to be a mistake.
21. That looks like a Frank Bello bass in the Slither clip.
22. Perhaps something like an Ashdown EB180 and use the DI out into the PA for a little more volume? I'd say you'd need at least 150W (ss).
