  1. one of my favourites for years. Tone, groove, sound, everything. How to play in a band.
  2. Had few Q's PM'd - to be clear, I bought this as a spare head just before the 1st Covid lockdown in March 2020. Its has been out of the box twice - once when i bought and powered it up. It's never had a single note played through it! I feel a bit like Nigel in Spinal Tap - "she can't be played..........you've seen enough of that one" The 2nd time was to take the pics. It has never left my home, never used and comes with ALL of the original packaging and 'bits'. It is 'as new'. Hope that clarifies the Q's.
  3. For me: Jamerson Babbitt Macca JPJ Andy Fraser Carol Kaye Yolanda Charles (as a 15 year old, I 'got onto' her as a player after buying Paul Weller's 'Stanley Road') Damon Minchella - I was into OCS as a teen also and listened to Damon's playing a lot Willie Weeks Pino Duck Dunn Now I really like Jamaero Artis and Sharay Reed also and well as Mr Dart too. Countless others too I'm sure indirectly - Glenn Hughes springs to mind.....
  4. Yeah, all great players. Owain the guitarist and I were in our first band together in the late 90's for a few years. He's stinky poo hot to be fair. We're still in touch. He went off to ACM Guildford but is now back local.
  5. Love Stravinsky and also this.... My mate is the guitarist in this band - not a massive fan of this style generally but I totally respect the skills and playing chops etc....
  6. I'm pretty sure that there would be a school or college or even community musical group that would love it.
  7. couple of years old now.......a little sloppy drunk maybe but we had a laugh....... Herbert Harper's Free Press News off Muddy Waters' 'electric mud'.
  8. the acoustics in a stadium are really weird - and everything gets lost, so we've always run at normal, sensible volumes, amps are 'cranked' enough but tonnes of it back in the wedges / IEM's and let the sound engineer do what he's paid for. For me, I personally prefer IEM's over wedges in large venues - with some ambient mics fed into the mix too. Obviously, guitarists especially 'think' they need a full wall of Marshall 4x12's to play anywhere bigger than the Dog and Dustbin's back room, but that's another discussion! I'm just old and miserable now and after 20 plus years of emptying and loading gear many times a week, I've accepted the benefits of a small rig (sometimes just a DI box) and IEM's. Obvs need a decent PA and someone to run it of course.
  9. For a laugh, I used my spare rig / home set up of a Trace ELF and BF One 10 whilst playing the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff..... zoom in on the pic. The lads took their small Fender Blues Juniors also as we needed to clear the stage pretty quickly after finishing playing. Obvs there was a monster PA, plus we had our FOH eng with us, wedges and IEM's so I didnt' actually hear it - it was more for a laugh to say "I've played the Millennium stadium with a BF one 10 and TE ELF". For the other stadium gigs, I've usually taken my TH500 and pair of SL112's - BUT, that's only for my monitoring and a visual effect for the punters really.
  10. Cheers Frank. Its essentially brand new having never ever been played through and as it came to me, so a good saving over a new one.
  11. It's also reminded me of a tale - an old sound engineer pal of mine who used to be Roy Harper's FOH engineer (along with Fairport Convention and the Strawbs I believe). He told me a tale some time ago of a night at Telford's Warehouse in Chester where Roy Harper was playing. Tony was on FOH and felt this tap on his shoulder a few times, but turned around and couldn't see anyone....happened again and he looked down to see a crouching Sir Robert of Plant.....who proceeds to say "shhhh Tony, I'm incognito........" Tony replies with "but Robert, you're 6'3" with a mane of blonde hair and are the lead singer of Led Zeppelin"
  12. Tonnes of fav's....... drums on 'fool in the rain' - saying that, you could say that about every Zep song to be fair, but I love the groove. BBC Sessions is great and I spent a lot of my youth trying to play like JPJ with that album on repeat! Ramble On is a fav, as is Custard pie, The Wanton Song, Thank You, The Rover, Heartbreaker.....I could go on.......... This thread is great as it's made me re visit lots of music I haven't listened to in ages so thanks!
  13. Withdrawn. Open to trades with potential cash from me to 'top up' I need a decent giggable cab - BF ideally...... Hey all, I have for sale an unused, still in the original box Peavey Minimax 500. I bought It as a back up and it's never been used what with covid and lockdowns. I plugged it in to check it powered up etc and that's it - not had a note played through it and never left my home. Spec details here and for sale new at DV247 - https://www.dv247.com/en_GB/GBP/Peavey-MiniMax-Head-500w-4Ohm/art-BAS0007929-000 Its essentially a class D 500w amp with built in tuner. Passive and active bass inputs Gain and Master vol 3 band EQ with quite nice chicken head dials 'punch' button; mid shift and bright Tine / mute button Aux in for 3.5mm jack and also same for headphone out. The rear panel has IEC connection; fuse; 2 x speak on type connectors, FX loop send and return, Pre and Post DI button and an XLR DI connection with a Ground ./ lift button. I'm not looking to swap, trade or PX. Sale only. Will deliver to UK mainland via insured Parcelforce courier at the asking price. Cheers.
  14. I have owned a pair of DB112's and SL112's. I'd use both cabs as my main rig and the single for smaller gigs, musical theatre jobs and such. I also bought a BF 0ne 10 to pair with a TE ELF. All are excellent at what they do, but IME, the BF one 10 odden't keep up with the single SL112. They're both great and the BF punches well above its size though. I'd like to try a compact rig of 2 x BF one 10's with my Aggy TH500..
  15. Hahaha! Cheers Phil. I've enjoyed the content so far and once I finish my Masters (why I decided to do a FT MSc in a year, during lockdown I'll never know) then I'll take a deeper dive and maybe even book a few lessons (if you're still doing them). Best.
  16. Bass royalty indeed......... Hey Phil. Have subscribed to your youtube channel............ Best. Jamie
  17. I have a pair of these in a box which haven't been used for about 5 years. I had them in one of my Jazzes for a while and they really are excellent - and run hot!!
  18. I have one of these and it’s a great bit of kit. great for headphone practice, great to use as an MP3 player to boost the signal.
