  1. Great set up. Ran exactly the same rig for a few years pre covid. GLWTS
  2. I have a similar one.. “don't just play the notes….play the music”
  3. I’ll ask my electrician mate…. good shout
  4. And now I think the trace (unused for 2 years) is also in need of repair. FML x 2 need rig needed me thinks….::
  5. update: can’t get a sound out of peavey into BF. i know bass and lead is fine as (a) used last night, (b) ran them through my little Marshall guitar combo at home and all good. so….. peavey lights up….plugged into the cab of my trace combo….still no sound and can smell burning..: all off. Probably going to kick the peavey head off a bridge.::: tried going from trace head into Bf (both 4 ohms) and frustratingly, no sound. is it poss that whatever has happened to the peavey has also damaged the BF?!
  6. Private wedding in Llangollen town hall. Big boomy space, but we had a big pa. all fine from that pov…. but….my amp / cab died after just as we were about to start the first set. i was using my Peavey mini max 500 into my BF retro 2x10. the power light on the amp briefly went from blue to red, then i smelt something burning…: I was literally running both gain and master vol at a little over 1/4 with all EQ flat, so nothing loud at all. also using keeley compressor and boss oc 2, but that wasn’t being used at that point so I can’t see that I’ve overdriven the preamp or anything…. the amp still powers up etc but no sound. A bit confused really…. 2 gigs next week so may be looking to buy an amp or cab, depending on what I find later…. i just turned it all off and as i was in the pa via my sans amp, i just used a powered wedge for on stage monitoring to get though the gig…. ive brought it all home so im shortly going to try some fault finding…. I have a TE head and cab here also so can try peavey into TE cab and TE amp into BF cab to try and workout what’s broken. Hassle I don’t need.
  7. Oh Steve....... having used this actual amp, what a beast and buy with confidence off a man who makes a mean cup of tea. Bargain too.
  8. So I've spent the last week rehearsing & playing bass for the excellent (and lovely) Whitney Lyman - a singer songwriter from the USA. I got booked a few weeks back and she arrived from LA last Monday. we rehearsed Tuesday, then played in London on weds, then a few gigs up North at the brilliant Focus Wales festival. Some recording got done yesterday and a little more later in the week, then she's back to sunny California. Had great time, band was sh1t hot and enjoyed it. Used my Jazz basses, Peavey MiniMax500 and my Barefaced 2x10 - good compliments on the sound from the sound engineer too (and the EQ was flat as a pancake). Plans being made for another visit and some festival dates all being well..... just need to get asked to do some USA dates now 🤣
  9. Get an independent Sound eng to mix the band for a wedding. generally, the crowd will want to dance to songs they know, hear a balanced mix and not leave with incurable hearing damage or temporary threshold shift. its not a ‘gig’ in the sense that people are there to be ‘taken on a sonic journey’ with the guitarist’s pedal collection. neither will they be arsed about the drummer’s intricate cymbal work, or whether the bass player is playing half rounds on a custom Dingwall, through a kemper. Just have the straight conversation with your man. Ultimately, if it sounds pap out front, people will ultimately talk, the bookings will reduce and you’ll get less work. or leave the band of course
  10. I 'did a Trav' and also bought a blue and a black one....... Both played fine out of the box - I'll do a bit of playing then give them a tweak if needed....... bargain - 2 decent basses for £298 delivered! I've got a function band gig this sat, so will take one with a Jazz and see how it fares....... I used the blue one last night in a little low volume rehearsal and no issues really. Still trying to work out the switching and pick up configuration options though.....
  11. Bought a lovely little BF 210 cab from Andy. Super nice guy and made payment and a convenient meet up simple. Buy with confidence. Cheers Andy.
  12. looks like I'm likely heading down to Bath / Bristol area Thursday all being well........

  14. I’ve only just properly caught up with the WHOLE thread. brilliant. I had a quick read earlier last week, so then sent Trav a Facebook pm….. having now read the whole thing properly, I’ve chucked in a few £….. ……to make sure he doesn’t sell that beautiful bass! oh, and gets this work done asap! good luck Iris! (And Trav and Jen and family) well done BC!
  15. Hello, will weigh it when I get home - it's not heavy at all......
  16. Just a quick update that I’m quite possibly driving down from north wales to bath later this week, so can take the bass with me……. passing through Shrewsbury, Telford, B’Ham and M6, down the M5….. As per my post on the Limelight P bass thread; I've had to rearrange and this will likely happen in a week or two now.

  18. From a quick forum search on here, Mark at Limelight winds his own pickups….. do a quick forum search and you’ll see loads of comments regarding them and the sound quality etc
  19. I will re check but I believe they are limelight’s own - great pickups and authentic
  20. It certainly is and despite a few messages, it’s still currently available……
  21. Hey guys, would it generally be preferred if I added some photos of the pots / codes, underside of pickups etc? cheers.
