I must be slipping. I try Fender, and despite 75% of the denizens of BC being Fender fanbois (and goils), no response whatsoever. Someone else goes for Gibson, and despite the fact that only @neepheid loves them, there are pages and pages of responses. Bah.

Building from scratch, but it's currently a collection of unconnected components. So, is it the actuality or the intent that counts?

Due to personal reasons, our viola player had to leave and we were carrying on as a 3-piece. Our vocalist/guitarist was always very sweary on stage and the drummer finally objected to it. Guitarist rang me up and asked me if he was too sweary, and when I said "well..." he threw his toys out of the pram and put up a notice in the rehearsal room - "Drummer and bassist wanted, must understand that there is only ONE BOSS in this band". Funnily enough, the band is still going, about 30 years later.

We were looking for a drummer for our 4-piece, doing a mix of covers and originals. One turned up and set up and told us to start and he'd join in. We started a song and he sort of joined in, doing a straight four on the floor beat at his own speed. We tried the same song again, same result. Then we tried a different song, same result. Fortunately we finished up with an inexperienced but very capable and quick-learning drummer after that rather traumatic episode.

Rather like an Aria Sinsonido with wooden wings but it isn't. The top wing just doesn't blend in with the rest of it at all.

For those of us who aren't privy to the innermost workings of Stingrays, it would be quite helpful if the teeny tiny picture was somewhat larger so it's possible to see if something is being misidentified, and which side of the debate is which and who is right and who is wrong.

I think I'm in a state of Schrodinger's abstinence. I've bought a PCB for @LukeFRC's Iron Man pedal, and ordered a few components for it, but does it yet count as failure or is it only failure when the pedal is assembled? Knowing me, that could mean I'll be out of the 2026 abstinence challenge.

What are you mostly going to be using it for? If the main use will be the four bass strings and there will be a bit of chording in addition, a 5-string E-C means you'll be stretching over one additional string to reach the four you'll mostly use (like playing a B-C 6-string). If you were to get a 6-string and string it E-F, you'd have to stretch over 2 additional strings to reach them. As for fretted versus fretless, you could experiment with your acoustic fretless - try playing an octave C , third fret A string and 5th fret G, then slide it up to an F, then up again to an A, and see how well you kept the octave as an octave. That will give you an idea of the issues facing you if playing chords on a fretless.

It means that some bitter, envious people can scream into the void of an internet forum about how dreadfully unfair it is, and how nobody deserves it.

Warwick JD Thumb and another Warwick Thumb, defretted and reprofiled to JD Thumb proportions. Fantastic to play but I've been playing 5s since 2007. I did use them for a little while with a Marillion tribute band (never got to gig), now I'm rotating them in for open mic nights.

I wrote euro at first, then wasn't sure so I did a google and it came back with a conversion into lat. I should have looked just below that, where the first entry says that the Latvian currency is the euro. So, ten euros then.

In that case, ignore all the stuff about emulating a DB with an EB. I used to swap between EUB, fretless EB, and Ashbory (silicone strung 19" scale bass) when playing with a ceilidh band - just played whichever one I felt like on any tune. Just find an EB that suits you. If you're not too far from Thomann's showroom (https://www.thomann.de/gb/compinfo_route.html) you could go there and try some of their fretlesses.

The LG TV upstairs in my office is 14 years old and was put up there when I replaced it with another LG TV, which is now 5 years old. The only thing I can fault it on is the Discovery+ app, which is incredibly laggy, but I don't know if that's the smart TV being stupid or a poorly written app (other streaming services work fine).

The loose one - rechargeable batteries. I always carry a spare pair of charged batteries and check the battery level before starting. The ones on a pedalboard - Vitoos ISO8 power supply.

So the original tuners are more period correct in function as well as appearance then.

AIUI, the ring and sleeve are connected to battery negative and preamp ground one way round on most basses, but certain ones have them the other way round. Most wireless transmitters don't give a monkey's but there are certain ones (presumably ones that charge through their own TRS plugs) that are sensitive to which way round the connections are, and for those the simplest solution is to connect them via a mono in-line socket and mono plug.

Has anybody managed a freeze type effect on either an MS-60B or an MS-70CDR? I suspect the TrgHldDly may be the key to it, which isn't in the standard MS-60B's repertoire.

I once worked for Medical Portfolio Ltd, a subsidiary of ICL based in Tipton.
