That is rather the point, fellow MENSA member. Basses with headstocks are naturally inclined to have shit balance. Reducing the weight at the headstock reduces the tendency to neck-dive.

I now have a Behringer P2 and somewhere I also have a Lekato MS-1. I'd like to have a play with wireless IEMs. No problem driving them (I have an XR-18 which is currently driving two monitors so there's a further four AUX outs). However, the XR-18 is currently only getting the vocals. No problem also sticking the bass through one channel and routing it to AUX only, but relying on vocal mic spill for the two guitars and drums doesn't seem ideal. I have quite enough to do with the vocals, buggered if I'm putting mics on the drums and guitars too, but I wondered if an ambient mic sent just to the AUX would work, and what would be a good mic to use costing less than £40. Any suggestions?

I tried out a selection a few years ago, although I was aiming at low budget I tried out a few up to £500. I finished up with a Crafter electro-acoustic dreadnought with cutaway which cost £175, it was superior to the more expensive instruments.

I prefer unlined - currently have four fretlesses, one lined, two unlined, one defret which doesn't have visible lines. Had to have the dots moved on the lined one so they're on the lines, I think I'll either just have to cope with the defret as it is or do what my Ibanez SRF705 has, teeny little fret markers on the edge of the fretboard. Incidentally, I have occasionally played a bass which was a fretless but was then fretted and the dots at the fret positions are really confusing, silly as it may seem.

My mains leads all have velcro ties and anyone can coil them. I'm the only one who gets to coil my XLR and j-j leads (also all with velcro ties). And on the odd occasion that I use a wall wart, I coil the cable round my hand and fasten it with a cable tie, NEVER EVER wrap the cable round the wall wart body.

I already own an Ashbory Mk 2, the original black model, of which there were only 90 made so they're pretty rare. Clive Cherry then made a run of ten Mk 2s with Brazilian mahogany bodies, bookmatched flame maple tops and headstock facing. I've always fancied one of these but with them being so rare, never expected to get one. For some reason, probably because I'd recently mentioned how almost none of my instruments were painted, I had a look on Ebay a few days ago and there it was! One cheeky offer later and it was mine - when it arrived it was missing the unobtanium bridge cover but it had been sitting in a shop waiting to be sold on commission and the cover had got left there, so it's on its way to join me.

I can't remember where it was that I heard the theory, but allegedly guitars are attractive because they mirror the female form, so near-parallel top and bottom like the Jones SM1 don't look like the traditionally attractive female, and presumably Flying Vs appeal to those who like teenage Olympic gymnasts.

We're called Dirty Roses - I think we've been asked twice if we're a G'n'R tribute (no) and we've never been asked if we're a Stone Roses tribute (still no). A former band that I joined, The Lightning, had a Facebook page that the guitarist (not the most literate person alive) had titled "The Lightning\rock\blues band,,," (yes, that is what it said, including the punctuation). Mrs Zero and I took over the page and got shot of the blues reference (and the shit punctuation), and we got more gigs. I think we left the "rock" in but I'm not certain.
