1.
cos you're selling to me?
Dream on
 2. I'm all excited. Why? Tell you tomorrow
 3.
There will be another Moffat bash in the not to distant future we are just sorting out the details. From my own experience trying to get fellow Scots to attend the bash has been difficult very few ever show any interest so that may be the problem and why so few are in Scotland we don't bother turning up.
It annoys the teats off me - Rich and I venture down all the way from the grey fortress of melancholy so I can't see how more people in Edinburgh or Glasgow could attend, even if it is just for the day.
 4.
Oooh, that would be good. There's a lot more of us in this part of the world on the Forum than there used to be - except it'll still not exactly be handy for the Aberdeen guys but still closer than Moffat
As long as we've got somewhere to park and somewhere to crash we'll manage
 5.
Exactly - I'm waiting for a victory reissue If you know of anyone selling one in the future then let me know
Opinion: If the Grabber and Ripper reissues are anything to go by then they'll cack up the Victory too. I'd trawl eBay and find an original one in the states being sold by someone who isn't an obstinate, obstructive fool when it comes to posting internationally. When the day comes I can't play mine without sitting down, I'll think about it
 6.
I really haven't been waiting for that. Why can't Gibson make nice basses?
You mean like they used to?
 7. I know what you mean - my band broke up a few months ago and I did wonder what the heck I was doing for a while. However, I'm glad I stuck it out. Had a wee ska covers gig with some good friends (and great players) which we basically busked due to similar practice issues to the ones above (1 practice had no singer and the other had no drummer - nasty cold doing the rounds at the time). I held my end up by practising like an idiot for a few weeks (including lunchtimes at work). Now something new is forming around the remains of the old band (me, singer, drummer). Not sure what's going to happen with the song ideas we have, but had a good get-together a couple of nights ago and the singer had something to sing which helped make the songs seem more concrete. I haven't come up with any killer bass lines yet (have I ever?) as the songs are fairly slow, delicate affairs and need some tasteful playing, but I'm hoping that there will be more upbeat numbers in time where I can cut loose a bit. I'm glad I didn't go into a full on huff about it and sell stuff
 8. Dunno what to make of that. Don't like the finish. 3 pickups VVVT + kill switch is an interesting setup. Only 20 frets, boo (although I understand that room has to be made for 3 pickups). No front markers, don't like that. Agreed that the knobs look out of place, especially given that shiny kill switch. Overall no, not for me.
 9. Mmm, shiny! This is going to look great.
 10.
Now then! I've been offered this bass in a trade for my epiphone eb3. Its a Squier mb-4 and doesnt have all the sh*tty skull rubbish that the one in the picture does. http://www.dv247.com/guitars/squier-mb4-sk...nes-bass--40774 I'll be looking to replace the neck, pickups and bridge. I know replacement pickups will fit but do you reckon i'd have a hard time replacing the neck? Also, can anyone recommend me some PJ pickup sets that may be of use to me. CHEERS Paul
I reckon it won't be a simple swap job like a regular P or J neck is. It's a 22 fret neck, there's no saying what shape the heel is, nor where it is with regard to the bridge. The 22 frets might be on a fingerboard overhang, but I can't tell from any of the pics I've seen. Is there anything particularly wrong with the neck? You should be fine customising the other two things (standard 5 screw Fender bridge, directly replaceable by Badass II, Gotoh 203, Schaller 3D, Hipshot Type-A (Fender mount) and a plethora of others) and whatever PJ pickups you like!
 11. It's not doing anything for me. It's the sort of bass you would nod at whatever gibberish it was saying while trying not to appear condescending and then make your excuses and leave the scene as rapidly as you can without seeming like you're in a hurry.
 12.
Awww man, the sounds of ma yoof. Any chance you could get a gig nearer to Bristol? I'd love to see you playing that lot. Fantastic
Heh, would love to oblige but Bristol's a fair trek

 14. If it is solid maple, your shoulder will know about it very quickly.

 16. FYI - Hagstroms such as these should be strung like so: The way you have it just now is placing extra strain on the nut.
 17.
OK, then, all Gibson basses with the angled back headstock.
I see what you did there...
 18.
Some Gibson basses are fragile
Fixed that for you.
 19. Welcome to the forum from the Grey Fortress of Melancholy
 20. No regrets here. I have sold: Epiphone EB-3 - first bass and looked great but bad balance, thin neck. Squier Jazz - thin neck AXL perspex thing - weighed a ton, bought as a laugh anyway OLP MM3 - won by accident on ebay, I'm not ready for 5 string Warwick Rockbass Corvette - sound didn't put me up or down and plain fingerboard (I like some dots at least) Takamine acoustic bass - rather unwieldy to play, plain fingerboard Traben Chaos Attack - sound didn't put me up or down Fecker Imprecision (Squier Precision) - meh, it's a precision. Squier Bronco - despite putting a lot of effort into tarting it up I decided I should man up and go long scale Epiphone EB-0 - as above, decided short scale was not for me Peavey Milestone III - bought locally for peanuts - broke it for parts and made a bit of a profit Italia Maranello Z - bought it for the looks, but couldn't get into it That's all I can remember. I have evolved my collection to the point where I'm A) happy with what I have and B) can't really move "forward" without spending a lot of cash in a oner.
 21.
I have one of the very 1st G&L basses ever produced - waaay before the eye gouger headstock. If I could get over a grand for it I'd be well chuffed... but I can't see it... not yet anyway.
Eye gouger? Is that an official term?
 22. I have a Tribute L-2000 in blueburst/maple - modified with parallel/series/single inner coils switch: Not the best pic, but the only one I have to hand.
