1. Nice one Chris! A bit too far away for me but if you come to London I'll be there. Be sure to keep us posted please. Cheers, Jon
 2.
The Pino was gorgeous but unfortunately displayed in a glass case so I couldn't get to play it. It was also about £2500 when translated from Kroner, so the strings won out
Did you see any Celinders there Mr. C?
 3.
...Lovely selection of Fenders (includinga Pino Precision), Sanbergs etc. Of course I only bought [s]some strings[/s] the Pino!
Amended for ya Clarky P.S. I-would-be-interested-if-I-had-the-dough Bump
 4.
...though possibly an argument for another thread!!
LOL - Yeah!
 5. I see it's not a string through jobbie so not as versatile for Fenders IMO. Shame though as it's a great looking unit. Have a look: HERE
 6.
If you are after a 3 hole bridge, the Schaller 3D is much better IMO ped
Are they 'drop in' on a Fender do you know Ped?
 7.
...from Gay Paris...
Something you need to tell us Clarky Have a bump on me fro a lovely bit of kit.
 8. I saw that too and it's crazy isn't it? When I was after a one I gave up in the end and bought a Fender HMV bridge instead! Anyone got any idea what has happened to Leo Quan's company? I read he is very ill, etc but surely the company is still going - Any mileage in the rumour Fender bought them? Jon
 9.
Forgot to mention I use a sans amp bddi. Markbass stuff interests me. The problem is there's no where to test/play this stuff in my area. That I know of anyways.
I use a MarkBass SA450 plugged into 2 x Barefaced Compacts with my Precision/Jazz/Stingray/whatever and I gig with all the EQ settings at 'Midday' and the sound is all there! If I need to EQ I do but it's rare. It's just a great sounding amp...
 10. If I were in your boat I would be seriously considering a setup comprising of a Gallien-Krueger RB1001 or 2001 amp on either a Barefaced Compact/Midget T stack or a Barefaced Big One... There's loads of power & frequency response from those cabs and the G-K amps are known for their growl & sizzle. Like I say just my 2p, Good luck!
 11. My top 3 are: 1. Flea, 2. Cliff Burton (Original Metallica man), 3. John Paul Jones. Interestingly as much as I revere these Guys, their style doesn't obviously influence my playing that much! JTB
 12. Like it Centurion, Like it
cheers, elbow grease doesn't appeal so I will need to convince my kids that rubbing down the frets and fretboard of my basses is fun, or at least if they do it they'll get an ice cream. Obviously they'll need to get down from up the chimney first.
13. Hello All, Now gone to a new home! Cheers, Jon
 14. Don't be worried Richard, it's just a simple product that works. I was a bit sceptical but the proof's in the pudding. All I will say is it gets an incredible amount of dirt off the frets and 'board which smear around and all over the place until you buff it off as directed so don't be disheartened half way through! As Gaf said - Give it some elbow grease! Cheers, Jon
I am getting too old and lazy for the whole masking tape and brasso, lemon oil sh*t. My Warwick in particular gets a bit roughed up. So I took your advice and got a 3-4-2 deal from JJ. Not arrived yet. Always worried that anything that sounds too good to be true is too good to be true.
15. Just as a follow up - I took Gaf's word for it and ordered some Gorgomyte from JJ in the States at Gorgomyte.com. Not only was the shipping super fast (less than a week!) but it is a great product. My '97 P bass's frets had gone green around the edges and it was in a pretty shabby state. After a going over with Gorgomyte the frets are shiny again and the fret board is nice and clean too! A big +1 for this stuff from me. Cheers, Jon
Seriously, honestly, All of you, try it just once and see what you reckon! http://www.gorgomyte.com/ Especially impressive on warwicks bell frets.
16. My fave place for Fender parts at the moment is: Darren Riley Parts In the USA. Hope that helps, Regards, Jon
 17.
They will ask to see a UK receipt or proof that you took it out of the country, like their own export documents...
+1 I had to take some work stuff abroad out of Heathrow once and there's a HMRC office at the airport where they physically check the stuff over and generate a document/receipt for you, and records for them, with all the details on it so that you don't have to pay Import Duty + VAT on the way back in. JTB
 18.
If I were you, I'd go through the red channel and declare it. They're usually so surprised to find somebody honest that they give you a break -- or, often, there's nobody in the red channel so you quietly walk on through. Customs people aren't interested in how old the bass is nor how many owners it's had. They tax you on its value -- either from the bill of sale or their estimate. They know all about musical instruments and can easily look up what they don't know while keeping you waiting in the interview room. The "confiscated bass and criminal record" thing happened to me once -- though it was a g****r that time. I ended up buying my own stuff back from the Queen before it was auctioned off. I wouldn't mess with customs -- they know all the tricks and have too many nasty powers... Cheers Mark
+1 from me. If I were you I'd not risk it just go through the Red channel... JTB
 19. My 2p: If I were you I'd play as many different makes and models as possible and buy the one that plays, sounds and feels the best for you. That's pretty much all that matters. As an example: The Japanese Fender P I owned for a while done all of that and I regret selling it now! It was beat up and modded but it was just right for me. You live & learn Cheers, Jon
 20. Great amp, I love mine. Have a BUMP!
 21. Good Man! It's great to score something you've been after for a while isn't it? Cheers, Jon
 22.
Hello there, just a bit of advice really please. I have just put my old Trantec 1000 system (bought about '92) up for sale on the forum. It has clearly written on it WT Licence exempt, 175.000 mhz. Am I correct in assuming this wireless bass system is both legal and doesn't require a licence? I've not used it for 5 years (except 2 nights ago when I set it up to ensure it still works ok) and I am unlikely to use it again. Really just want to ensure it's ok as I have had no interest. Hope someone can help, Cheers, Karl.
Hi Karl, That Trantec kit of yours is indeed legal and Licence Exempt at 175 MHz. SEE HERE Cheers, Jon
 23. Forgive my ignorance but who is he?
We hosted a visiting engineer this week. One or two of you might know him...
24. I think it's also a lot to do with newer 8 Ohm speaker designs being more efficient and sensitive meaning there's more SPL (sound pressure level) coming out of the speaker with the same amount of Watts as a more un-efficient older speaker. The goal posts have moved in terms of needing less resistance and more speakers to achieve louder results IMO... I'm running 2 x Barefaced Compacts off a MarkBass SA450 and it's a staggering amount of power and volume from that setup! JTB
