1. bob plant and tom jones seem to have done ok but they would appear to be the exception
2.
What sort of numbers might we get?
six days out of seven says it will be raining
3.
It's not playing music that's the main issue, it's my relationship with it. Everything I do, I put music first. If I go to church I think about how the music/sound could be improved, when I go to bed I put music on, when I get spare time I play an instrument. This is put before anything else that should be on my list.
so learn to prioritise and then learn to accept that it is not any sort of failure or underachievment that quite often many things whilst not perfect, are fine 'just as they are' imperfections and peculiarities are sometimes the best descriptive tools for capturing the nuances and subtleties of a given situation this is after all 'the human condition'
4.
That was fun but: It shows how insignificant the later Jamiroquai bass lines are. And he gets the Super Freak bass line wrong and labels it 'U Can't Touch This'. Which is unforgivable. I haven't listened beyond that point. Edit: I listened a bit further and realised he's learned a lot of these tunes from tab and not actually listened to the originals at all. Pretty poor. I wouldn't go as far as to chop his fingers off but if he put his fingers in front of me and begged me to do it I probably would. And he probably should.
yes and did you notice the trill at the end of the 'Are you gonna be my girl' was slightly overcooked
5.
He's about 20. Give him a chance!
hmmmm overall about 10% JQ , still could be worse call be all RHCP ..... oh wait ...... only 20? didnt realise/guess etc - must admit the only clip ive seen him on is the internet duets with viaceslav svedov http://youtu.be/31IotDQCjqE
6. well a cheaper option would probably be scan your local small ads for something cheap and cheerful to a) save money save assembly time unless.... http://youtu.be/PI0MRyUFIXU
7. ok ive just paused at 50 at least half a dozen jamiroquoi but no jamerson yet , no fontella bass rescue me,....hhhrrrmmmph
8.
I am an ex-Christian (the whole evangelical 9 yards) and this sounds horribly familiar. Something that you really enjoy, not 'sinful' as such but takes up a lot of your time and commitment: serious competition for the big G. So you pack it in, you've made a sacrifice, bit of kudos from your fellowship, but the warm glow won't take away the sick feeling that tells you you've made a mistake that's difficult to reverse. I'm not going to try to convince you that Christianity is a crock, you need to find your own way on that one, but the at the end of your post says it all.
this you could apply your reasoning and argument to any facet of your daily activities - why pick on music? have all those years of practice and performance really been so fruitless and futile? edit - why not pick on basschat? look at the amount of time we all fritter away on here!
9. forbidden website how mysterious
10.
What's a squeeler box?
i do believe the OP is referring to that wretched device that the guitarer unfailingly seems to always have set far too loud
11. singists aide memoire innit
12.
That's right, they were playing as I arrived. In fact they were near the end of their set as I recall.
I saw the whole set as arrived at about 8am
13. ALL THINGS JONI
14. even thinking about singing whilst playing throws my playing out had somebody come up during a song once trying to ask for a request and even thinking about answering her was just too much and i eventually ended up thinking 'go away i cant concentrate on playing and thinking about your question at the same time' and just ended up nodding in the general direction of the bandleader
15.
Sounds like a great idea. When and where is this happening?
1st november apparently http://basschat.co.uk/topic/237220-se-bass-bash-this-year/
16.
I've got 64s and 84s in my 2 J basses (fretless and fretted, respectively). Was playing them yesterday and reminding myself again just how great these pickups are - particularly the 84s. I was always tempted to stick a Thumper in my P bass, but went with a 62 RI instead. Very tempted to pick one up when this pickup phoenix eventually rises...
will you be at south east bass bash at all? i have a J with hammers - would be interesting to compare the three
17.
I have an old-style bean-shaped Bass Pod. Its inputs are: 6mm jack, midi in, pedal. So, this version doesn't. HTH
out of interest have you ever managed to get it to download patches via usb? all i can see online are threads of how it should work but nothing from line6 to explain why it doesnt i do concur - there is only a single 1/4" jack in - we tried the vocal through it the other night as our singist forgot to bring the little white helicon box - was errr ... interesting!
18. i like the SNJO track
19. They were on the line up at knebworth in 79
20. It's the inevitable hipsterisation of reftail industry You can resist and show your protest by wearing an old afghan coat reeking of patchouli
21. just found this little gem http://youtu.be/A9dkTq-HAfc
22. video the entire proceedings - tell them it is for a reality tv idea and then post all the videos up on here and we can collectively vote for your new guitarist as an extra bonus im sure ped could possibly throw in a BC polo shirt for the lucky winner
23. and martin grech's career given a massive (and deserved imho) boost all because of the lexus car ad
24.
Cool. How about emailing them today to let them know to wait in their car until the previous guy has left? Is that reasonable?
i dont get this - they know it's an audition - they know you have to try and maintain some sort of schedule - hence they know there will be somebody in before/after/both and that they might bump into them during the changeover i wouldnt go so far as to encourage them to sit at the back of the room and point and laugh but how is it a problem if one of them bumps into another whilst loading/unloading ? will they be comparing gear in some sort of guitarists pissing contest? if their egos are that fragile then for me it would certainly be a big deciding factor and i t would take an exceptionally talented and gifted and original guitarist to trump that i think being pragmatic trumps any notion of stroking their egos IMHO edit - apologies for being a bit blunt
