Ok, I already have 'no longer a newbie' status after just a few days of joining BC !! ... but should nt there be large warnings that joining the BC community is addictive, and that the 'gear for sale' section will clear your bank balance and get you into trouble with your misses !! Some great topics and info ....but where do I get help to get back to a normal life?
invoice for consultancy fee to follow
 2. You could try using it to wean guitarists off their skinny cheese wires and on to some proper good honest chunky strings

 6.
This sums it up for me. When I played in a covers band I got very irritated if other band members learnt the material sloppily, or not at all. If someone suggested to me I should deliberately not play as per the original I think I'd just go radgy apeshit bananas and thow my poo at them.
some people would pay for that sort of thing!!!
 7.
You mentioned Ashdown?......runs for cover
You mentioned Warwick too .... (Ducks to avoid flying ashtrays)
 8.
Usually because she left you years ago.
i have you know my right hand is still well and firmly attached to my arm thank you
 9. ithink i sort of know what you mean and shell says it too about relaxing into it if you watch somebody like vai playing lead he often looks very relaxed and sort of almost like his fingers arent going to make the note on time but they always do
 10.
Welcome from another old fart from the deep south.
haha very clever word play there the advantage of being really old though is that you eventually reach a point where you dont give a monkeys about hiding all the basses any more
 11.
Where's everyones sense of adventure? Turning up to a gig with a good handle on the set is just soooo dull. Nothing fires the blood and reminds you you're alive like hearing the singer mutter "Oh I changed the key on this one" as the drummer is on the 3 of the count in I also love the impromptu pulling of a song you don't know out of someones arse, usually accompanied by the sage advice "12 bar in A, country feel, watch for the changes cos there's a weird bit in the middle"
that may be OK for a gash pub gig where youre only getting enough pay for your petrol and two pints of lager and a packet of crisps its a slightly different issue if its a function band playing a wedding or big private party where you have been hired on a significant fee and are expected to put on a slick and competent performance
 12.
[thread hijack] is lonely boy an 'in' song ? to listen to it it is a touch lack lustre, our lead guitar suggested it as the kids love it , and after 15mins we had a good dynamic sound to it , but is it a crowd pleaser ? [/thread hijack]
deffo a great tune for the wireless! it is about as 'FM americana' as it gets, but imo i wouldnt categorise it as a UK crowd pleaser
 13.
He may well chuck his hair gel out of his man bag but that's his problem.
i just lold make sure you confront him with all the above comments about him being a lazy arse prima donna unwilling to learn YOUR set list .... but most importantly ....... make sure somebody in your band youtubes him when he throws his hair gel out the man bag and post it up on here - just think of it as your civic responsibility to the performing arts community
 14.
I believe its time for a montage!
or maybe even a pastiche
 15.
......band 2 gets in touch, they still haven't got a bass player either......
you need to ask yourself is there a significant reason why they still havent got a bass player ?

 21.
Ask for some evidence of their ability via youtube clips, soundcloud, mp3s etc. And ask what their previous experience in other bands is. No demo = no audition.
ask other local muso friends - you may be lucky enough to find a noob who has no previous experience/exposure of music scene (therefore no demo clips) but has a good voice and pitch etc etc and said muso friends might recommend them to you as worth offering an audition
