1. which reminds me of an ad i spotted on one of the local classifieds sites for band members - a young band looking for a new band member stating their main influence was the beatles followed by .... no screamers or grandads
 2. FREE ! https://itunes.apple...d424627468?mt=8 edit - dohh its 69 pence now
 3. somebody came up after the gig and was asking me questions about do i play in other bands or something or other turns out she thought i was the drummer
 4. if i get bored going through our set list i just go and learn a new standard that ive not bothered yet to dissect just in case you ever get asked to pull it out the hat just the one tune at a time usually and just listen through it and figure out all the lines and dynamics and then its stored in the memory banks
 5. failing to see how i can go on stage tonight and play conditionally? i go on stage i play how well or how bad is up to me but i cant place conditions on the audience??? (older and even more confused from Kent)
 6.
Thanks all! Basschat threads count as a legal document in arguments between band members right?
proof beyond reasonable doubt i do believe .... although dont quote that at the drummer you might need to explain it
 7.
It may well be cool, but it's not easy. The grammar is complex.
imho it is very consistent and logical ... unlike some other languages i could name
 8. i too have been lucky with a squier affinity series J - i like it equally to my TRB
 9.
For me, its all about the Sansamp. I got one about a year ago and would never go without it! I have the Programmable DI one, its got 3 savable settings. Works wonders for me as I play different stuff all the time, one night Reggae the next Death metal! ha ha! Heres a video of some of the more heavier stuff going streight intro the desk via the sansamp -
this is exactly why i love/hate warwicks so much - love that tone - just cant bear to pick one up though
 10.
We're all chasing that elusive tone that we hear in our heads. But is it all down to our fingers and how we play? Are we wasting our time and money buying new gear?
that and our ears and the way we hear must be few things that are so intrinsically subjective which imho is the biggest hurdle to overcome - many peeps are acutely aware of how their voice sounds when the hear themselves for first time on a recording and/or amplified through a PA personally i think many guitarists suffer a similar thing - although we hear the tone our ears and brain struggle to reconcile it with some 'golden tone' that exists in our imagination and the feedback loop that our mental ear hears because it knows what our fingers are up to!! next time you go want to hear what your bass sounds like - go to an open mic night with a bass playing friend who you trust with your instrument and ask them to play a tune or two while you sit back and listen - admittedly you may not be going through the rig of your choice but you will be surprised whn you stand back and listen to your own bass with somebody elses fingers playing it after you eliminate the feedback loop in your own brain between your ears and your fingers
 11.
Can we do viola jokes too, former orchestral player (violin) so have a stock - as well as violin jokes for balance obviously.
ahem http://basschat.co.uk/topic/198206-i-was-just-wondering
 12. wouldnt mind the bowie gig - would be a doddle - know most of the giggin material or pink seems ive just opted to be a female bassist... twice!!
 13. Nigel what have you got against Violas exactly??
 14. a pair of tingsha cymbals and a singing bowl please failing that i wouldnt mind getting a nylon strung classical and re-learning some of the grade 8 pieces i used to be able to bludgeon my way through as a precocious teenager
 15.
Ok, I already have 'no longer a newbie' status after just a few days of joining BC !! ... but should nt there be large warnings that joining the BC community is addictive, and that the 'gear for sale' section will clear your bank balance and get you into trouble with your misses !! Some great topics and info ....but where do I get help to get back to a normal life?
invoice for consultancy fee to follow
 16. You could try using it to wean guitarists off their skinny cheese wires and on to some proper good honest chunky strings

 18. apparently at least one basschatter has been to one of our gigs recently and i only found out by accident

 20.
This sums it up for me. When I played in a covers band I got very irritated if other band members learnt the material sloppily, or not at all. If someone suggested to me I should deliberately not play as per the original I think I'd just go radgy apeshit bananas and thow my poo at them.
some people would pay for that sort of thing!!!
 21.
You mentioned Ashdown?......runs for cover
You mentioned Warwick too .... (Ducks to avoid flying ashtrays)
 22.
Usually because she left you years ago.
i have you know my right hand is still well and firmly attached to my arm thank you
 23. ithink i sort of know what you mean and shell says it too about relaxing into it if you watch somebody like vai playing lead he often looks very relaxed and sort of almost like his fingers arent going to make the note on time but they always do
