3. Thank you Gents. Here's "Electric Lady", the Midnight Blue 4003 Rickenbacker.
4.
Nice. Have you kept the SG too?
No, unfortunately my brother has the SG Std.
5. I received my Midnight Blue 4003 in today. A really nice fretboard on her. Plays great too. I was going back, and forth between the Jet Glo Black, and the Midnight Blue. After opening the case, the Midnight Blue was a good choice.
6.
Thanks Everyone We went to Guitar Guitar in Epsom last weekend (just "happened" to be passing). I wanted to try out the Gibson Midtown Semi as I wanted a woody thump for my new project. I tried the Gibson out (lovely lovely) and saw the Ric sitting in the corner and had to give it a go. It was love at first sight, but way too expensive. Alice preferred the sound of the Ric but I decided to have a think about it. I guess my mind was made up for me!
That's a beautiful Ric. Congrats, and best of playing with it.
7.
I'm fortunate enough to own this one. Weight-wise it's just under 9lbs. They look even better in the flesh
Very nice!
8. I had two US G&L SG-2's. The first i had made up, It played nice, but the tone wasn't there. I guess I'm just to much of a Jazz player. G&L does however make some fine Axes.
9. The Tort. It flows with the Rosewood on the fretboard.
10.
Mine too, though I'd add both mint and parchment pickguards to that combination. Just variations on white though, really!
I also like for a body color with these PG colors, Arctic White. I had an Arctic White Standard Fretless Jazz, that I sold to a friend. I should have kept it.
11. The White PG, OLympic White body, and Maple fretboard is my favorite for a Fender. The Tort PG, does look pretty decent on a 3-Color Sunburst body, and Rosewood fretboard though.
12. Congrats on the Markbass.
13.
Because I need no excuse to post a pic of this bass....... 63 RI Precision.
Wow! Looking really nice man!
14.
I often look at the stages I`m playing on, with my two little Markbass cubes (CMD121P & NY121) and think it looks miniscule in comparison to the 410 &115 stacks, or the 810s behind it. Then I hear the sound they make when I`m on stage, and carry them both to the car at the same time after the gig, and remember exactly why I bought them - to fit my needs, not my eyesight. I`d love an Ampeg fridge or stack, but I neither need one, or am able to cart one about, so it would purely be to feed my bass-players vanity (cos I do have some, honest ).
Hey Lozz; I agree with you about the portability, and play ability of the Markbass Combo/Cab you're using. That really is a Little Monster setup. I'm not doing any road work any more, but I just like the sounds of the Ampeg SVT-410HLF cab, with the Markbass LM Tube 800 head. It's over kill for sure, but the power pushes the sounds so well. 15. The 34" EB3 was an EB3L. That's the current version of the Epi EB3. EB0, SG Std.'s are 30.5" scales.
16. When I restring my Fender basses, the E measures to just above the D tuner post. The A to just above the G tuner post. The D to just above the top of the head. And because I string through the body, the G is a proper fit untrimmed. By using my restringing lengths, I get a good two wraps, plus a little extra around the tuning post. I don't use a winder.
17. Don't forget to add Sunn to the list that went under Fender's wheels.
18. I've had a few combinations over the years, but I really like the Markbass: Little Mark Tube 800 head, running through an Ampeg: Heritage SVT-410HLF cab. Both head, and cab are 4 ohms. The LMT 800 is 500 watts @ 8 ohms, 800 watts @ 4 ohms. The HSVT-410 is 500 watts RMS, and 1,000 watts peak. It just sounds great! The Heritage SVT-410HLF cab, is about 10 pounds lighter than the Ampeg: Classic SVT-410HLF. Every little bit counts. US Eminence 10's are in the cab.
19. I use D'Addario Nylons on my Fender Fretless, and a Precision with great sounds.
20. The SG Specials really are a good no nonsense Gibson Bass, over the SG Std. The heavier nitro finish, the fancier inlayed fretboard, and Mother Of Pearl on the head, are the only difference for a lot more Buckeroos from SG Special's, and SG Std.'s.
21. The Walnut, and Heritage Cherry 2014 Gibson SG Std.'s just jumped in price from, $1,399., to $1,525. I don't know why, I just saw the price increase.
22. Definitely the bottom Jazz. White blocks on Maple, I like white on white anyway.
23. A great setup. They really work. Congrats on the Markbass gear.
24.
I'm probably the least objective person to ask - I bought two BA110's from two different retailers and had to send both back for different faults. After that debacle I bought a Rumble 15, which was faultless, and then last week I traded up to the Rumble 40. If the BA110 had worked, I would've kept it happily, but looking back now when I think about 'bang for buck' the Rumble 40 wins hands down - more flexible EQ, XLR out, built-in overdrive, 3 built-in tone voicings, and trust me, the Fender weighs a lot less. I can't emphasize that enough.
The Fender weighs less now because, Fender is now using real plywood, in place MDF. Lighter, and stronger.
25. My Am. Std. P Bass does fine on the upper end.
