1.
I still think ' What a lucky guy' when I get mine out of its case
Nice !
2. I don't play five stringers so that's not a problem for me. I do like playing the Jazz Fretless when I want to just let go, and play no real set songs. Try different things, etc. I can play that way for quite some time.
3. Playability is my first preference. Tone next on the list. Comfort, then Appearance. I do have Brands that I like, but that isn't as critical. Price is in there somewhere at times too.
4. i don't mind the looks of my Am. Spl. Honeyburst Satin Precision.
5.
I tuck the strap under my belt and it stays were I position it. It does not work if you wear an overcoat on stage or if you are shaped like this...
That's a good plan about tucking the strap under your belt.
6. I like the Fender G&G case. It fits in the case good, and it has a closed compartment. Looks really nice too. It's similar to the G&G cases G&L uses for the US made G&L basses. The case also fits right, or left Precisions. The Fender Deluxe Gig Bag the bass came in was ok, I just don't like trusting a gig bag if it falls over. Accidents happen.
7. I had a fantastic session today with the Markbass Mini CMD 121P/NY121 Combo, and Cab. The Am. Spl. Precision is really sounding good with the two 12's. Nothing cheap about this Markbass.
8. With a strap that's smooth on the inside shoulder side, it makes the Neck Dive of Death even worse on the SG Std.
9. I ordered a Fender G&G Tweed Precision case for it. A nice fit.
10. I never worried about having to much POWER, as not having enough. Like the other gent mentioned previously, amps have controls on them.
11. I was having some light to medium Gas over the last couple of months for the Fender Am. Spl. Honeyburst Precision. Until April 4th, and one of them started talking to me. It kept saying, Play Me! So I did, and,……………….. took it home. No more GAS.
12. Hey Lozz; Great that you got your Partner back. I know how that goes too. My Markbass found it's way home, like your faithful Axe. A good move Sir, Congrats.
13. A big congrats on your new Gibson EB. the color looks great too!
14.
It looks great as well. I'd love to find one of these. They were going for some bargain prices a while back. How does it sound compared to your US Std?
Thanks, I like the looks of it too. With the Alnico V pup, it sounds very similar to the Am. Std. Playability is very good also. I think I mentioned before, the Am. Spl. is a decent series bass. The early problems have been remedied, at least on the recent ones I've tried. The Am. Spl.'s are still a bit limited on fretboard combinations, to body finishes. Mine is, or was on sale for $200.00 less. I got a break. And I surely can't complain about the Alder body on it. Great sustain too.
15.
Fair point. Love am. special p basses, think I prefer them over the am. standards.
There are some Am. Std. I like, or prefer. I was an early Am. Spl. critic. At least some of the early ones here in the states did have some issues. However, from what I've seen of the more recent Am. Spl.'s, they look very good. I wouldn't have gotten mine the other day if it wasn't good. I do like the Honeyburst stain, and the Alder looks great too.
16.
Very nice. The the colour looks like Rickenbacker's "autumnglo" to me, which is a relatively rare colour.
I think you're right about the Autumnglo finish.
17. Some faded finishes I like, depending on the grain of the body's wood. I just got an Am. Spl. Precision with a satin finish. Sometimes the faded SG Std.'s aren't to bad either.
18.
Thought you were stuck on SG's, what was up with it? I would like one of the nitro gloss heritage cherry reissues if one comes up for a reasonable price
I did like it, but it was the odd bass out. If I have a choice of short scale, or long scale, I'll go with the long scale. The SG Std. played nice, but the Precision sounded better through my amp setup.
19. The name "Natasha" just came to mind. I don't know why, I just like it. Long scale basses are my favorite as time goes on.
20. Thank you fellow low-sounders. The Honeyburst Nitro is the hand finish made for some dealer's. This Am. Spl. Precision was made up for Guitar Center. (Maybe others as well). It has a nice low price on it too. I just need to get a hardshell case for it. I'm not kicking, or complaining. There was a sale instant reduction of $200.00 off the regular $900.00 price. Fender has done a bit of QC to the Am. Spl. Series. Am. Spl.'s are still somewhat a higher priced discontinued, Highway One Series, but it plays very good with the Slim Profile neck, the Greasebucket Tone Circuit, and the Alnico V pup. I like it.
21. I'm back to using the Markbass CMD 121P Combo / NY121 cab. The Combo is Italian mfg. (May 2013) The cab is Indonesian mfg. If the newer cabs are heavier, mine may be an older mfg. They sound great, and are built like Brick Shizt Houses. Great job, Marco Markbass.
22. I went into a local Guitar Center today, with plans of just looking around. And then I saw this Am. Spl. Precision. I played it for a bit, looked it over, asked a sales rep to hold it for me until I got back. My Gibson SG Std. stayed, the Precision went home with me. I was not to keen on the Am. Spl.'s in the past, but this one has changed my outlook on them.
23. I can tell you where my SG Std. Walnut Bass is. Guitar Center. I returned it for a really good priced Am. Spl. Precision.
24. The 4003 series, has the pull out, Classic Sound setting on the bridge pups' tone dial. With it pulled out, it gives the 4003 the Classic 4001 series sound.
25. I'll go with my American Standard Fretless Jazz. With the right strings, and going through a decent amp, it plays well. Quality on it is right on also.
