1. I've got it, and all I can say is that I don't think I will ever sell this one. Talk about amazing. the quality is out of this world. Have been using it today at band practice and with a bit of volume on the amp it just sounds awesome. I think the Zoom pedal will be going as it just sounds so good on its own.
2. Should be picking up my Bravewood Pbass next week so will have a play when I get that and see what happens, the Thunderbird is a pretty muddy sounding beast which won't be helping matters.
3. Have done two gigs with it now and still not quite sure. One was indoor and the room wasn't great but there seemed to be so much low end even with the treble up and the tone up on the guitar. It was so deep and if I rolled the bass off the sound seemed to get lost. Second gig was outside and whether it was beacause the others were pretty loud, I just couldn't hear myself and wasn't getting the sound pushed forward as I would like. I know it was asking a bit much of one 15inch cab, so going to add another cab to get the full power out of the amp and push a bit more air. I am holding off until I get my new guiatr and see what it sounds like through the amp, but was thinking about adding either the VX410 or the 410XL, guessing I should keep the cabs matched(same make) would the XL with the alu speakers sound ok with the VX115 or should I just stick with the VX410?
4. Turned up today, so have just been having a play and so far very impressed. Will use it in rehearsal tomorrow and crank it up and see what it'll do to the VX115. I've been playing it for a couple of hours now and the fan has not made a sound(would like to hear it to see if it works) But so easy to dial in a sound.
5. Well I finally gave in to the weight of the Ashdown Magc410t, unloading the van after last nights gig I could feel my back screaming at me. A very nice French man appeared and crossed my palm with the right amount of euros and he took it away. He also had the Mag 115 cab. So with a few gigs in the diary have to get another fairly sharpish. there is so many to chose from and not having any reliable music shops near it has to be online. So have spent most of the day reading reviews and watching you tube videos of various amps and now have a Hartke LH500 on its way, going to run it through a Hartke VX115 which as far as I can tell is 300watt and the amp puts out 350watts at 8ohms so I guess I'll have to be a bit careful. But looking forward to getting it, and £240 from Thomann is pretty good.
6. I have a Mag c410-300 combo use it with the mag 115 cab and its plenty loud enough. But The combo has to go!!! Its just too damn heavy. If it goes this weekend(fingers crossed) then I will get just the mag 300 head and another cab.
7. Just re read the email, and you could be right it says two carbon fibre rods(not truss rods). Really must get my eyes tested again. But yes its a flamed maple neck with a flamed Alder body.
8. I'll ask him about this truss rod malarky when I go to pick it up. Which should be in just under four weeks.
9.
Carbon fibre truss rods? Do you mean stiffening rods? They only replace a hole where the 'tonewood' was removed you know
Just checked the email I had from them and it says 'The neck has two carbon fibre truss rods imbedded in it, keeping the neck rigid, this also helps eliminate dead spots on the neck and gives an even tone over the finger board'. At the end of the day I think it will feel alot nicer than my £200 Thunderbird.
10. Getting quite excited, its not long now and I shall be getting my hands on this...... Its a Bravewood P bass with two carbon fibre truss rods and a Bare knuckle pickup. Really looking forward to playing it as I've never had an expensive guitar. Not that it makes you a better player of course but after nearly twenty years of playing thought it might be nice to treat myself to something nice and handmade.
11. Two Gigs this weekend, one being a jubilee type do outside. The other is playing to a very drunk crowd of French people who will have spent the day playing Boule in the local tournament, should be fun!
12. I had the same with Avast! I think Bass Chat should come with a warning,!!! The one about draining my wallet over prolonged use.
13. Enthusiasm for music- 99% Musical Perception- 99% Emotional Connection- 89% Social Creativity- 70% Musical Curiosity- 98% And 25 minutes of my life wasted.
14.
Yes basically it will be Musette when the accordion is in there. They just use the term Dansette here for the little get togethers for the "find a partner" evenings in the local villages. We are after all in La Creuse where dress up for the evening in your best clothes usually means a slightly less smelly pair of blue overalls that you've only worn for 4 months
We are in the Charente and its not much different, but I have noticed they are leaning more towards green with the two zips down the front. They also go as far as getting their bestest bright blue work clothes out for funerals, L'eglise is just opposite us and it looks like a workers convention when they are all filing in.
15. I did something very similar to my Aria Pro, it was getting pretty chipped and knocked about so did the same. 16.
On the counter side, i've ordered loads through them and never had a single issue....
Same here only good encounters.
17. Something I like about this one..... http://youtu.be/C4ddkxEALL8
18. I joined a band before I could play, it was my Dads covers band and he showed me a few notes and I sort of picked it up pretty quickly. I think I have got a little better since then. Now I play in two quite different covers bands one I am starting from scratch with new members and numbers, but the other band were already gigging so I wasn't too sure when I tried out with them, turned out alright I sort of knew the numbers they sent me and the ability to busk a little worked well as they played totally different arrangements.
19. Its a bit of a different scene over here as they don't really have the pub culture so its more cafe bars and restaurants. We normally charge a minimum of €350 going up to €500, but weddings are €1000.
20. I wouldn't mind trying the Behringer V amp(rack mounted), they don't get a lot of love but as they can be found pretty cheap I might get one to play with.
21. Amazing night at Etang Vallier (small resort in France) The place was packed with French,English,Dutch and Belgians and from the first note the dance floor was full. Was a bit like the Twilight zone when we fired into 'Take it easy' the whole place stopped and then as if rehearsed they all started line dancing...weird but really great fun. Nights like this are why I love playing live.
22. I guess it is just playing around with it, I tried turning the master gain down(which then resets when you turn it off) and that has made a difference. I have found that the znr noise reduction bit doesn't like being too high as my bass gets it to make a clicking type sound. I've also switched the compressor off on most patches.
23. I've had my Zoom B2.1ut for a while but never really used it properly. Have any users got any pearls of wisdom on this pedal, how to get it sounding similar through the amp as it does through the headphones. I appreciate I'm getting stereo through my headphones but something seems to get lost when I got into the amp. I've tried it in front of the amp and also through the send and return, is it a case of play with it until I get it sounding right? Thanks.
24. Guitarist said to me just now in an email......... Mr Blue Sky, yeah great song but it would take about six months to learn the timings. I haven't replied yet as I am still biting my tongue, but just thankful I am playing with the other band this afternoon. Not all that keen on Mr Blue Sky, but come on if you can't play that what hope is there.
