1. Been trying to find a chrome pickup cover for my thunderbird, but alas I have had no luck. Plenty around for Fenders P and J but nowt for the Epi thunderbird. Anyone got any clues or should I just try and get a Fender one to fit.
2. I could see the receiver sitting on the top of my amp from when I was up the garden, I could see the light flash as I was hitting the strings. So as far as I am concerned there is no delay in the signal from the G30 its the sound getting back to your ears. I'm never going to be that far from my amp anyway when playing live, just love the freedom and not tripping up over my wires. Just have to convince the rest of the band to tidy up their act.
3. Well we played a birthday gig in the garden last night, so had to have a wander to check things out. It kept working up to its claimed 100ft. There was a slight latency at that range but as I have read elsewhere thats the sound getting back to my ears not the signal from my wireless to amp. Really loving it, a good buy.
4. votre anglais est meilleur que mon français aussi. Welcome and enjoy.
5. Would be a black one for me if they come in XLFB.
6. Popped it onto channel 2 and no interference at all, must be having one of those days. And can't blame it on the Vin either only had one bottle of cider.
7. Didn't think to try another channel, but yeah blame the French, and to top it off its Orange broadband.
8. Think I have just found a problem with this G30 relay, nothing major and it won't trouble me when playing live. But using it upstairs and went to find a track on youtube that I need to learn for next week.........and no wifi signal on computer...weird me thinks, check the Ipod no nothing on there either. Ask the good lady if she still has the internet and nothing on her laptop. Switch the G30 off and they all come back on again. So great bit of kit with no noticeable loss of tone and also does a fantastic job of being a wireless jammer. Still keeping it though.
9. It does seem to do the trick. Got to have a play with it on my main amp and see what it sounds like but through this 100watt thing upstairs I can't tell any difference to with or with out lead.
10. I'm liking the freedom at the moment and so far haven't really noticed any difference in tone. I'm thinking of going a different route with the effects too. Only really use the amp sim on the zoom pedal to give it a bit of valve sound so might look out for something that will sit on top of the amp out of the way.
11. I'm now a free man, just moved into the realms of wireless playing. No more wires round my feet. After lots of reading on here and everyones reviews and opinions I went for the Line 6 relay G30. Seems a good bit of kit so far. Now looking into rack mounted effects and gear. Just need to keep my space free of clutter, might be a bit of an ocd thing coming on.
12. Don't know about not being able to play bass on your own on the street, this guy does alright. http://youtu.be/0RpOfc9ERm8 http://youtu.be/4JHqeePBq3I
13.
Nah, youll never get used to it, you need to sell it on (to me) so you do mate
I would be tempted to sell it but then I think I might regret getting rid.
14. Hi Sprocketflup didn't realise you were on here. Thanks for that info, yes it is active. Just been messing about with it now and have to agree that it plays so nicely. Must be the thin neck after using the Thunderbird. Just seems a bit zingy to me, but could probably get used to that again.
15. You might laugh but I bought this new from my mums club book back in 97. Its an Aria ProII and that's all it says, so I've never known what model it was. Just recently given it a refurb, and left it with an oiled finish. Put it back together yesterday with old strings and surprised myself at how bright and easy it is to play after the 'Thunderbird'. Any ideas on what it is would be great, have searched through all the Aria stuff on here and can't find anything that looks similar.
16. I must admit I do all my music shopping online, out here in France we have a music shop near us but if you find them open your lucky. So unless I'm prepared to travel miles and not know if I'll get good service its internet for me.
17.
what sort of band/music do you play? what sound are you going for? whats your playing style like? answer these and we can start recommending brands/gauges/winds(round/flat)
Good point, sorry too much wine with lunch. It is after all yet another bank holiday out here in France. Play in a covers band doing mostly rock and roll(trying to get them into some more modern stuff) But also play a fair bit of Led Zepp and Deep purple. Not sure about what sound I want, could do with a bit of life in it but without losing the bottom end. Perhaps any new set of strings will give this.
18. Any recommendations of what make and type to replace with? Too much choice.....round wound, flat wound, nickel plated or stainless steel. Shopping is supposed to be easy.
19. After a bit of advice. Really need to change the strings on my Epi Thunderbird. This might sound really bad but I haven't changed them since I bought it, so no idea whats on it or the gauge or anything. I know its a bit of a trial and error thing when it comes to finding the strings you like. But would be very grateful for some ideas of where I should start.
20. We have five at the moment, unfortunately we don't have a drummer so that is done with the dreaded machine. Not ideal at all, but think a drummer should be joining us soon. which will make us six.
21. I've had this problem in previous bands, but the one I'm in now is made up of old git's who really should be at home wearing slippers and sucking wurthers, they must be almost 40yrs older than me. But on the other hand they all know what they are doing, stop when they should and so on. The keyboardist is bloody amazing and is just getting out of the habbit of playing the bassline with his left hand as he had been doing the job of bass player before I joined.
22. Get that from our guitarist all the time, think his time is almost up to be honest, even some of the simpler stuff he makes up and says its my own interpretation. I like to play as close to the original as I can. IMO if you are playing in a covers band, people want to hear the songs as they know them.
23. I asked lots of stupid questions before I bought anything, expecting to be ignored but even then they answered all of them.
24. Absolutely brilliant, that good infact that I had to mention it on here. I had bought my Mag c410t combo from euroguitar (online) out here in France. It didn't come with a power lead. This wasn't much of a problem as its just a kettle lead. But I sent Ashdown an email asking if one should come with the amp, to which they replied yes one should. Didn't get much joy from the firm I bought it as they thought I was talking about a speaker lead. (My french isn't that bad). But Guy at Ashdown said no probs we'll send you a power lead. So today a package turns up with a french(eu) power lead and a normal UK power lead....All free of charge. They even answer all your emails, some of which were out of hours. All I can say is 'Two thumbs up' good gear and a great bunch of guys.
25. I started when I was about 16. My dad had a rock/pop covers band and they needed a bass player. I came home one day while he was thinking about advertising for one and he said 'here come down tonight and play bass' Yeah great dad, never played an instrument before in my life (apart from the obligatory recorder at primary school) He found out an old acoustic guitar with three strings on, showed me a few notes and away we went. Bit ropey for a start. But something clicked and I just got into it more and more. Bought a squire precision and was away. Since then I learn mostly by ear and use the internet alot too.
