1. Not sure about having a p'ss bucket floating around in the back, we used to just open the back door whilst in motion. Windows are alright but you have to watch the wind doesn't blow it straight back in.
2.
So no stories? Truckstop
Only that I could link this topic to the thread on Gaffer tape, rubber floor mats are also good for hiding holes in the floor. But other than that it was just a recommendation for Transit Vans.
3. Transit van all the way, back bone of Britain so they say. Never had any problem that couldn't be fixed or bodged on the quick to get me where I'm going.
4. I played my fist outdoor gig with an old 100 watt combo, I could still be heard but had to crank it to almost full volume which sounded pretty nasty. Now using my Ashdown magc410 combo and extension cab and have no problems at all. Most of our gigs in the summer are outside.
5. Welcome from a bit further South in France. I see you do a bit of Reggae? Do you play at 'The Rootsland Festival' it comes to our town every year.
6. Thought I'd pop this on and see if it gets any interest. Its a 97 made in Korea Aria IGB40 (so I have been told) Active electronics giving quite a good range of tones. I have sanded it down and finished it with oil and fitted gold machine heads( I can put the black ones back on) Would need new strings as I think these are €5 specials that someone bought me.Grand Wazzo set this up for me a few years ago when I was back in the UK. Its a very nice, very light bass for very little money. I'm after €200 which is about £170. Shipping should be about €30.
7. I use energizer rechargeables. The last pair I had in were fully charged and did a full gig(3 hours) and the two rehearsals before the light went to red. So well chuffed.
8. Well I got to use it for the first time today in rehearsals. I am so pleased that I took on board everyones comments and went out and bought one. We were playing in our singers kitchen with tiled floor and cellar underneath so always pretty boomy, slid the Gramma into place switched the amp on. Well I thought I had plugged into somebody elses amp, the sound was so tight with noe of the normal booming and vibrations I would normally hear. And both guitarists commented on how good it sounded. Tomorrow night will be the big test as we are on a big old wooden stage, but so far I'm as happy as can be with it. Would certainly recommend.
9. I can't afford to change mine and while its still working well and sounding pretty good I don't think I will pursue a quest for a better sound. My back might think differently.
10. Ordered it late yesterday afternoon through Amazon and it turned up this morning, Just got to wait for our guitarist to return to France with it in his car.
11. I've only gone and bought a Great Gramma, and from what I have read all over the internet I am to expect some pleasant results. Should hopefully be here in time for our next gig which is on an old wooden stage.
12. I've got a Mag 300-410 combo and never had a problem with loudness, but adding the Mag 115 really makes it come alive. I was told at the last gig that they felt the sound from the bass was really driving the band, I think that was a compliment.
13. My first gig was at a May Day Carnival in front of the whole town back in 93. Had only been playing for six months, the singer got us the gig and I was totally bricking it. Got the first song out of the way and hearing most of the town cheering was amazing, we were gigging regularly from then on.
14. Not a band mate but our keyboard players grandson, he's not bad and only 17.
15. Willing to sell it if anyones interested. Its in as new condition.
16.
Got a mental picture of the crowd not liking the set and flinging the bread around!
They start eating around sevenish and it can be midnight time the last course is done, some gigs we have just played between courses. Its a very strange setup. But then years ago playing clubs in the UK we used to get asked to stop for the bingo or raffle.
17. I'll post ours from the main band and you will see why I am actively trying to get the second band up to speed and gigging. Bear in mind though that the rest of the band are 65+ and most of our gigs are played to retired ex pats, the french in general are about 30 years behind in terms of music and stuff so fits in quite well with them. If I didn't love playing live so much it would bore me to tears. Walk of life Move it Route 66 Mustang Sally Sweet little sixteen Its only make believe Take it easy You never can tell, C'est la vie The wild side of life Kansas city Hold on tight to your dreams Nights in white satin Love is all around I can't stop loving you In dreams Great balls of fire All shook up I can help Rocking all over the world Johnny B Goode Imagine Pretty woman Caroline The last time Nutbush city Brown sugar Lets work together Honky tonk woman Alright now Need your love so bad Midnight hour High heeled sneakers Whole lot of shaking Hey Jude Wonderful tonight Folsom prison Chasing cars Oh Carol Its over Raining in my heart All over now Wonder of you Proud mary Back in the ussr Wicked games Angels Jealous guy Black magic woman Down down. Some of the older members might have heard of some of those, we don't really have sets when we play as the music is normally broken up by food. At alot of gigs they spend all night eating and drinking. But even though the songs are not what I would listen to, wherever we play they are up dancing at the first song and still going to the last which always helps the atmosphere.
18. Looking to trade my Zoom B2.1u, its in as new condition still have the box instructions cubase cd and two (uk) Zoom power adaptors. Don't laugh too much but I am after a behringer bass V amp pro (rack mounted). I know they have very mixed reviews. I am trying to get everything off the floor, so have gone wireless and all the bits are in a rack and just want to get the rest off the floor. Also have an extra latching switch which puts it into tuning.
19. This looks very interesting. I already have a B2.1u but I am liking the look of the B3. What I can't seem to find anywhere is what the casing is made of, any ideas? The B2.1u is a pretty sturdy lump of metal(well so far my feet haven't broke it). And I am still not sure of straight into the amp or in the effects loop.
20. Nothing special from me, I play with a bunch of geriatrics who only want to rock n roll. But gets me out of the house. And another livelier band is forming nicely now so things should get nicely busy. Here's out reverbnation page. http://www.reverbnation.com/livewireinfrance
21. Hi from an Englishman in France, won't type in French as its hard enough to say it. Welcome.
22. Being polite I can only say 'Pants', I think my old casio keyboard used to make awful noises like that.
23. This will be mine, not the most expensive or portable. It is heavy. But its still enough to make the crowd wobble on their feet. Might ditch the B2 for B9 soon.
24. I've no idea why I thought the pedal was 12v, just looked and its 9v and just found some dc extension leads online so will give them a go.
