1. Mine is simply the best bass I have ever played. Don't sell it!
2. Thanks for the input. I really need to get off my backside and try a few different cabs is probably a short answer. I do like the idea of adding another ashdown 2x10 to my existing 4x10 and having the flexibility of 2 rigs. So the next question is. Will 6x10 ashdown cut the mustard in comparison with more pricey 4x10's. For example would the epifani/ zoot/ Dr Bass et al 4x10 really blow away 6x10 ashdown? I am a believer in you get what you pay for most of the time. Is this true with higher end 4x10, or would the difference with an ashdown 6x10 negligible??? cheers.
3. Had a lot of fun out of my Boss ME50 and it is a great workhorse, 100+ gigs and counting. Also makes a great guitar pedal. I've added a crybaby and a DHA fuzz and incorporated it into a board.
4. My bad.
5. Has anybody read the gospel according to Terry Waite? He wrote it whilst chained to a radiator in Lebanon. Pete I believe was the name of the aforementioned radiator.
6. My head is the Markbass SA450. I have been putting it through my Ashdown 4x10 cab with reasonably good results. My question is what would people suggest to marry up the head that may really put my sound to the next level. I like my 10's to be honest and wondered if there is a suitable 2x10 that would give the same uummphh. I like the idea of lightweight but the markgass 2x10 I tried was disappointed with. I suppose my main question is "Is there a really good 2x10 about or is there no getting away from a 4x10?" I hae no beef with Ashdown gear but have a lack of experience with lots of other makes. cheers.
7. Like Tony Blair said prior to his first erection .... Geddy Lee, Geddy Lee, Geddy Lee.
8. "The Ox there ..." seen em before but totally enjoyed watching again.
9. love the tint on 5099. i think i love them all though.
10. 2 words. Geddy Lee.
11. The blokes in PMT brum are great.
12. Delilah is piss break song during the 2nd half for me and the drummer. if needed! we usually all manage to get back for the last chorus.
13. I purchased my marcus jazz and replaced the strings with lighter ones straight away. The neck ( skinny C shape maple) definately moved. I tweeked it a few times and in the end took a bit of advice as well. I am no expert, but some woods move and have "memory" and will try to return to a former position. Make slight adjustments and leave a few days in betwen tweeks. I replace one string at a time these days during a re string which is another piece of advice given to me. It plays like a dream.
14. He is crap at playing with the who. I would be much better and Geddy Lee would be better than me! Goodbye!
15. Much enjoyed! Thanks for posting. Reminded me of being in the sixth form. Is she a bean flicker now?
16. Where was Nige? I think Glen Hoddle was playing one of those basses!
17. almost on topic .... nowhere as bad as Keane I suspect on Johnathon Ross. f***ing awful, including Ross and the rest of the shower of cnuts on there.
18. p and p and p an o is my weapon of choice within my own 4 walls.
19. My grandfather was at Dunkirk. He would turn in his watery grave if he heard grown men whinging about back ache! Saying that since I got my Marcus Jazz I wouldn't fancy a night banging away on my standard US.
20. I think there should be some kind of bass rehab clinic. Instead of the Betty Ford clinic, what about the Geddy Lee clinic? Perhaps Paul McKenna will bring out a self help dvd?
21. Saw him do it with Neil Young back in '92. Too busy watching Neil to worry about the bass
22. Personally I thought Retroglide was a master class in song writting. I still like Level 42. There .. I said it.
23. Most of The beatles. Never understood their appeal.
24. George Jones. White Lightening 1964 version.
25.
Depends on your taste in music, but I'd say almost anything by Rush for starters.
Yes that is a great idea. Rush got me into guitar and bass. I threw the plectrum away and tried to blast along to Geddy Lee in the early days. To be honest my enthusiasm and progress now comes fro playing in a covers band for the last 15 years. I have to be a jack of all trades. Most can be busked but there are some things that you HAVE to get right, Rhythm stick, watching the detectives, town called malice, who stuff etc .... Floating my boat at the moment is Playing along to Spocks Beard. Not rocket science but plenty of changes and dynamics and tones. I love Rush more than ever too.
