1. I am really torn at the moment after putting a 62RI neck on my standard US jazz and falling in love with it all again. I have almost convinced myself that my Marcus Miller may need moving on. However I adore the neck on my Marcus, and I know it is a long shot but wondered if anyone wanted to trade or even buy the Marcus body. Sale of the body would basically mean that I would have the money to go towards a 75RI body from stratosphere in the states. If you have a body and want to go active then this might be for you. The bass is almost 12 months old and is in excellent condition as you would expect. Perhaps a Geddy owner who wants to go active may be interested?
2. http://garywillis.com/pages/bass/bassmanual/setupmanual.html Ive got this saved on my laptop. I haven't looked at it for ages but remember it being good when I had some neck problems.
3. make that 3001 views bump. Lovely bass, good luck.
4. Danny Thompson has appeared on about the last 7 or 8 Richard Thompson albums. He has also been his main live player sice about the mid 90's. Some Thompson albums can be more electric than others if you know what I mean. Mirror Blue is a great mix and more bass fuelled album. Albums like Mock Tudor and Old kit bag more pop driven, if you could say that. Stuff like You, Me, Us??? and front parlour ballads a bit more self indulgent. Pre 90's stuff from memory will probably have Peggy on them. One thing for sure is that there is not one bad album in the whole of the RT collection. Enjoy. Last time I saw Thompson who was using a big line 6 combo.
5. Glad to see you were talking about your bass playing.

7. ACCCCCCIIIIIDDDDDDD !!!!! I lived in Manchester in the 80's. I think I have just had a flash back.
8.
No, they're playing on the 19th.
The Baron Knights then?
9. Might be worth dropping detune jazz a PM. He was asking about mine last week. Good luck.
10. GCDGBE capo on 3rd fret anybody? This allows to play bar chords when needed and keeps the D shape in "action". I did look closely at this a few years ago as it was a bit of a holy grail for me being a big Thompson fan. I think I used the live in Austin dvd for reference as well, I could stand to be corrected though as the man in the oprthopedic shoes said.
11. You could probably knock it out in G C D Em or something like. If it sounds good go for it. What a great song to cover as a band. When I played in a band with paul h we did a punk version of Beeswing by Thompson. It used to go down very well. Good luck.
12. I used to play this in my serious guitar days. I seem to remember the E is dropped to C and A is dropped to G. I think Thompson cappos on the third. I have seen him live 20+ times. If I practiced for a month I might be able to play it again.
13. On a very enjoyable encounter with Norman Watt - Roy a few years back he told me that a Jazz signature for him was being considered, along with chunk missing where his thumb sits. To be honest in the long beer fuelled conversation I and a few others had with him about 4 minutes was spent talking about his bass gear. He was far to funny, interesting and charming to talk about thyat drivel.
14.
I learned the track because I loved Geddy's line right near the end of the song .... 3:03 in this YouTube video
A classic indeed. Unusual for Geddy to use his now trademark Jazz at the time. He was torn between it and his Ricky at the time. The bass sounds fantastic on the whole album. Infact it's one of the best produced sounding albums ever I think.
15.
+1 for 'Vital Signs'
Scary!!! That is the bass line I just can't stop playing at the moment. That's the great thing about Rush. I forgot the line because it has been years since I last played it so I had to learn it again.
16.
The Rush album, or have you provided the soundtrack to a downmarket version of Changing Rooms?
Myself and the wonderful and clinically depressed paul h who also frequents this place did provide the soundtrack to a very downmarket skiing video many years ago. To be honest I had Rush attack in the last couple of weeks, where I seem to go through their whole catalogue. I have been having these attacks since 1979.
17. Yeah, a bit of Rush will do you the world of good. This week I have mainly been playing along to Moving Pictures.

19. Get a nice Jazz. I bet a Geddy would be a great starter.
20. This looks like a seriously nice bass.
21. I don't know if I know exactly what country music is. I have and do enjoy people like Lyle Lovett, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Johnny Cash. One of the last albums I purchased was the best of George Jones. Some of the greats have done some superb country stuff. Have a listen to Gram Parsons and The Byrds "sweetheart of the rodeo. I not defending all the bullshit that is obviously out there though.
