1. Long live Prog and Beer! Two of my favourite things in life. If shagging was also listed I'd be there with bells on
2. Over the last 10 years we have upgraded bit by bit and to be honest for a pub/ club rig I don't know if we could get any better other than full PA with engineers at al. We have Dynachord powered desk (I.5k) EV tops (not sure but I think the main speakers are 15") and recently invested in some wharfdale powered bottoms (this has added weight but the powered option I think blows the passive ones out the water) We put through it electronic drums, 2 keys, acoustic guitar, 4 vocals and squeeze a bit of line out from electric guitar and bass amp when required. We never struggle for clarity or output and we play townhalls sometimes. The next step is getting the monitoring right.

Hello Benwhiteuk, I paid £500 for my jazz in 2001. I too don't really know the the value at the moment and I don't really know if what I paid for it is of much relevance anyway in todays climate. It really blew me away when I bought it ( I was mainly a guitarist back then ). Until joining this place I had no GAS issues. Then I decided I desperately needed a vintage 70's P. I went into PMT picked up the marcus jazz and knew within a tenth of a second I wasn't going home without it. My '97 now sits in a corner at home. I took it to one bigger gig as a back up because I wouldn't have got away with a restring. 99 times out of 100 I only take 1 bass to a gig and its going to be the marcus at the moment. What interests me in your Warwick is it is very different to other basses I have played and if I have another bass that is different it often inspires and develops you as a player. I will try and get to try out a thumb bass. I really don't know much about them. At the moment Im doing the graveyard shift feeding my 4 day old daughter while the rest of the family sleep so I will take some pics hopefully in the wee hours and post them up. Im definately interested though and if it made us both happy then everyones a winner. If you change your mind/ Gas after something else or I do then nobody has lost out either Anyone know where thumbs are stocked in Brum? Cheers Matthew.

Hello, I have posted a pic of my US '97 Jazz with tort shell and drop D tuner, (but no longer the j retro. I put her back to passive and sold the j retro) I don't know much about warwicks or if this is a suitable trade, so please forgive my ignorance if it is not. She does'nt get a la la la la la lookin' since I bought a marcus sig about 6 months ago. If you are on route fro Pompey to Derby perhaps we could compare each others . Just a thought! obviously i will post more pics if required, cheers mr fudge.

Fancy a swap for this? .. not me the bass .. Its a beauty of a US 97 Jazz with D tuner and now with a tort scratchplate! Doesn't get a look in since I got my Marcus Jazz and I still have a hard on for a P again. Ignore me if you like a have a BUMP. It looks like a great bass.
6. Unfortunately I am on the other end of the scale. After 25 years in music shops people cant wait to help me know because I am probably more likely a better demographic for a sale. I can sympathise because I have spent hours trying out riffs in guitar shops without any intention of buying more than a plectrum. It is pure ageism. I wish I was still on the receiving end ...
7. Me about 18 months ago. I now have more grey hair and a little beard that makes me look like a twat, but I am one, so there.
8. Played a funeral and opened up with "Don't fear the reaper" Walked into the wrong rehearsal studio and ended up jamming on guitar for 45 minutes with Pato Bantons band and Paul h from here. A few years ago we decided to become the new grumbleweeds. we have had a few on stage games of football. Ive played bass and pool with the end of my guitar a few times. Another 100 things that I will have to put into a book one day. Hopefully another 100 things to come
9. best of luck with the sale. I gassed after a P and then found another Jazz a few months ago. Plus ca change plus ce la meme change I think Geddy once said.
10. Lovely P and an excellent price I would suggest. My Mrs would kill me though ...
11. Typical of Americans you are a year or so too late Howdy Partner!
12. all the best and remember ... straight into the desk .. bang your fingers in and pull all the neccessary faces I( wonder how Geddy or The Ox felt without all the toys we enjoy today. Good Luck!
13. I bet the bloke in black can sh*t. Let's have some real music please. I thought I was in the frozen peas section! THE BEARD IS OUT THERE!
14. Lynott was born at Hallam Hospital in West Brom. And all the "Oirish he claimed to put in everybody"
15. Neil Young has produced 40 years of uncompromised genious. I love him. Musicians I appreciate as a musician are mostly guitar players, Richard Thompson, Kim Mitchell, Alan Morse, Stephen Stills. Neil is unbeatable in every respect though.
16. http://rush.com/resources/popups/henhouse.html I have not seen this before. However I am delighted to report that I have not missed Rush in the UK since 1983.
17.
Rick Danko (The Band)
I've been plonking away to the band on my piano today. The late great Rick Danko. Great to see him mentioned. however ... Derek Smalls, if not cool definately "luke warm".
18. I ordered mine a few days ago. Confusion to enlightenment after a conversation with Dave ... please continue ...
19. Great gig to about 300 people at The Gate in Sutton (that's what the gaffa said). Band tradition meant that my bollocks (post vasectomy) were photographed for posterity behind the bass amp ( good job I kept the 4x10 Cab ) and didnt do the markbass combo It has become a bit of a tradition! Now having 2 months of as my 3rd child is due in days (hope to f*** it's another boy). Homework is to do A day in the life by the Beatles but Neil Young style from his last tour. (Google it ... it's a treat) Looking at individual effects, possibly starting with a Dave Hall tube job. Lots of practice, lots of piano and lots of Spock's Beard.
20. I know nothing about this bass but there is such a lot of love in this thread that i feel compelled to say ... BUMP!
21. Both my balls are very, very purple.
22.
I've lived in London for a while that's probably why you can't quite hear it, I'll post when I'm drunk or annoyed then you'll cover you're ears, an annoyed Brummie sounds like a clarinet played by an asthmatic. cheers
Im a yam yam. Being a Brummie I suppose you like UB40 and Oirish only ?
23. Bumperino on both! I have had both in the past and they were great!
