1. Yes my first thought was McFender. I'll get me mack (intosh)
2. Be careful. I have a DHA that requires 12v and a boss multi - effects that has a spec all of its own. Unless they are all 9v stomp boxes make sure you do your homework.
3. I also can't believe this bass is still about. What a great price.
4. I am also interested in the crazy and often sexy world of fretless. Be honest though in a rock and pop covers band would one become more of a bit on the side at home. I do like a bit on the side though and it could bring my bass playing/ thinking on? What do people do here? I hope this adds to the original question.
5. I used one for a few years and it did me proud. I upgraded a few months ago but kept the Mag as a spare or perhaps to use again at some stage. This really is excellent value for money and should be grabbed with both hands.
6.
If you've got kids (or an interest in castles) Pembroke Castle is a great day out. The beaches in Pembrokeshire are some of the best in the world IMO, and I've been to some of the supposed 'best'... Ipanema, Carribbean, Copa Cabana, Phuket, Devils Island, Red Sea, Persian Gulf etc etc, they are not a patch on Pembs beaches Some lovely shops in Narberth, if you like tapas be sure to visit Ultra Comida at the top of the high st fantastic cheeses meats and olives yum. Enjoy.
Jake, I'm sure you are aware of some border castles. I had a fabulous day at Stokesay last week, although purists may call it a fortified manor house. me and my kids are also big castle fans.
7.
What the hell were you doing in sh*tty Bargoed????
I remember working at a place I can only remember a messy cucumber. Nelson also rings a bell. For a fact there was an enormous sub station at a place begining with clynnn ..... ??? I am also a veteran of Aberthaw and Cowbridge sub stations. I was young and it was good money at the time. Favourite moment would probably have been going through the lights at Monmouth at 90 mph and seeing the sign that says welcome to England. Saying that Rush recorded some of their greatest moments in the studios at Rockfield not a million miles away.
8. I spent a lot of time in South Wales during the early '90's. I dont think there is a pylon or piece of switchgear I didn't have some role in painting. For my sins I lodged in Bargoed, Swansea, Tenby and Barry and a dozen others. When it came to Brains bitter I refused. When the locals moaned at us English lads for doing all the work, we promptly offered them a start the next day. None ever turned up. I suppose it's hard when you meet blokes from the Black Country though!
9. I wonder if anybody has built a bass with a collostomy bag? Would it be a re-issue or signature model?
10. Get Lucky (Boys and Girls) Kim Mitchell.
11. Terry Brown. Best bass rock tones in the history of man.
12. Robotic dogs, furnitue, equestrian paraphanalia, spare wheel from the van, a drill, selection of hats, acrobatic displays, playing tick off ground, hoping competitions, helium, womens sanitary products, womens clothes, we put the grumbleweeds to shame
13. I have received mine in the past few days. My rig is in storage at the mo as I am on paternity leave, however just for a bit of fun I put my guitar through it with a little practice amp and it sounded great. In its own right it would make a great little boost and added drive for guitar solo's. Can't wait to use it for what it's designed for.
14. Taking retro to it's logical conclusion ... as my children often crimp ...
15. If I was a twenty six year old woman about to be married I would insist on walking down the aisle to it. Classic! However I am a 39 year old man and don't have any expectations in any of the aforementioned departments.
16. I didn't know until now that Duncan Fearnely made bass guitars. Good luck with it. Do you have to get special strings?
17. Lakland are top notch. I got my last egg poacher from there and a device that cuts an apple into bits and isolates that unwanted core. I also purchased a bespoke piece of tuppaware that successfully encapsulates half a Spanish onion and allows you to store it with other fruit and veg without any fear of cross contamination. Also I saw a blue one in Reverb in Brum for £800. I gave it a quick once over and it seemed excellent. I quickly put it back.
18.
Mine is what I have at the moment....HA3500, VX810, Zoom 607, Fender Jazz x 2.
At last .... I discover your favourite humming noise.
19. I dream about this bass. One of the finest I have ever seen. I should have had it 1st time around but I was hellbent on getting a p. In the end I got another Jazz. If it had a mapleboard I would be selling a kidney tomorrow. This bass is obviously worth every penny, I just hope it goes to a good home, shame it won't be mine.
20. Buy this bass benwhiteuk ..... The bass gods have cospired for this to happen. Although of course its none of my business
Ok mate, I’ll bare that in mind. However, the Thumb might get sold for cash relatively soon, but I’ll keep you informed.
No probs at all and congratulations on the sale. I want to see you with a killer jazz now. There was a Marcus around here a few days ago. I love some of the other 75 re-issues as well. Cheers. Matthew.
22. Results in studio and live are incredible. Here is our drummer. He prefers acoustic cymbals, but does maintain an electric one. Go for it. He has had a few kits .. and yes i have included this picture because it was our most infamous gig ... not a usual Saturday night.
