  1. Yes, I see your issue. line level output from the turntable is only 240mV, a separate CD player would be outputting about 8 or 10 times that (2-2.5V) which is what your Denon would be expecting. You’d definitely be better off using a standalone phono preamp from Rega, NAD or Project would be my recommendation. It’s a Moving Magnet (MM) type you need, not moving coil (MC) or one that does both. There are plenty of cheaper ones on Amazon from around £20.
  2. Slightly off topic but doesn’t that rosewood look loverly! 🥰
  3. Just realised this is 30” scale - WANT!!!😍
  4. I had those pickups in a Westone Thunder and liked them, quiet with a balanced tone I thought. Would probably work well with an active preamp (mine were just wired passive).
  5. Battery isolation switch to turn the LEDs off, via a push-pull pot maybe?
  6. Totally awesome 👏👏👏👏👏
  7. I wonder who makes the plug-socket for the switch/pickup connection. Would be handy if they offered a right angled adapter.

  9. This is a fabulous thread and build. Thanks for sharing!
  10. You might have to melt the old glue to get it off anyway. Maybe a temperature controlled soldering iron with a broad tip turned down to just melt the glue and no more?
  11. Heat the old glue until it melts then reattach?
  12. Yes, they are. Got some stuff this week.
  13. Looks like the BAF wadding has been removed from the side walls.
  14. Excellent, enjoying this so far, thanks for posting. Sorry, might have missed it, are you going with a natural finish?
  15. Hi Mike, can I ask what shade of white is it, is it a creamy, old white or a bright white, white if that makes sense?
  16. Thanks Richard. The north coast is truly stunning, world class scenery. I had a great day once cycling from Ballymoney to Bushmills (where the whiskey is made) where I joined the coast road and rode on into Portrush, stopping for chips and a rest then onto Portstewart for an ice cream at Morellis and then back inland to Coleraine. It was a beautiful sunny summer’s day and the scenery was breathtaking. Grub was good too 😁 It’s my hope to retire there in 10 years or so if I’m still able.
  17. If you look at the 2nd link in my other post, the one for the sunburst, it states 30” scale. Pretty sure I saw this in an advert for the blue one somewhere too. I’m guessing it’s the body that’s 3/4 scale.
  18. The only short scale SX bass I can find locally is the blue P-bass. Looks very good for £160. I believe it is 30” scale. https://www.dawsons.co.uk/230621/sx-electric-bass-pb-blue-3-4?istCompanyId=f16c2387-744c-456f-941a-ef6c2f7c5239&istFeedId=55d15576-631e-4559-aefa-7460513112a8&istItemId=iqtailqpr&istBid=t There seems to be a 3tsb version available in the US https://therockinn.com/products/sx-pb-bass-3-4-size-solidbody-electric-bass-guitar
  19. I remember as a young man ogling an SVT II and 8 x10 in Session music shop in Belfast, would have been around ‘92 or ‘93. It was the version with white lettering (not blue) and I *think* it had the graphic equaliser. They hired it out as backline but it was pretty new. The shop guy asked if I’d ever heard one, “Nope” “Here try this” and he handed me a Musicman Stingray (another first for me). I can still remember the tone and visceral impact on my chest, it was genuinely shocking. The dynamics seemed instantaneous and unlimited. A never again repeated experience for me. About a year later I bought an SVT III with Ampeg 1x18 and 4x10 cabs but it wasn’t the same as the valves and fridge.
