I can't see a fellow BC'er lumbered with all that work. I'll do a few. You know, just to help out.

I'll hold the camera!
Can you feel the love Scoop? We'll, finally, be moving on the 31st, so anytime after that would be great Eude
I personally think you should make some videos of them for us all
I'd be happy to do them if you don't mind paying the postage Scoop Eude
Laid horizontal with the TTE in top. It was sat on top of a large cab underneath which wasn't plugged in (can't for the life of me remember what the cab underneath was). Tiny footprint. Very punchy! If you search musicman sterling on YouTube, one of their artists is testing a HS with two vertical 102p's.
Nice >> http://youtu.be/rT_FrPUOo_A Eude
There's an ACG porn thread? Wither...? [my memory is so appaling, I'm actually a little worried/amused that I might have done something daft like *started* the thread and then forgotten it exists]
Et Voilà >> http://basschat.co.uk/topic/140476-the-acg-thread/
Hmm, I think in volume it would win hands down, and the low end, from the bad reports I have heard, was actually very impressive

I find the low end on my 102p excellent, it's had no problems filling a pub on its own! I love it, really clear, tight, punchy and more than enough bottom!
Thanks for the feedback guys! That little cab has always intrigued me, but I've never been sure about 10" speakers when looking for big volume, but I remember being VERY impressed with Ou7shined's MarkBass 4x10, one of the HF ones. Cheers, Eude

You really need a couple of 6 strings basses to pad it all out a bit though...

How was the low end on the cab mate? Does it get close to the low end from an Aggie 1x12?... Eude
I rehearsed with my HB combo yesterday. The combo sounds ok and seemed loud enough to be used live in smaller gigs although didnt seem as loud as the promethean. When used with my 212 cab it was a lot quieter than the Promethean had been. The Ibanez was blasting all in front of it at half gain and a 1/4 master and had a good cut through sound. The HB was way up close to 3/4-full on both and didn't seem to have the headroom of the former. It also didnt sound as good even though we were using the same room as when I gave the Ibby a run out. Might be I need to fiddle with the eq colour and contour but I just couldn't get it right? Anyway I've got 3 gigs this weekend so will give it a fair runout, if it doesn't shape up it can ship out! My search continues but so far head wise the ibanez has been the best...
Sorry it's not worked out mate. So was the Promethean better than the LittleMark and the MiBass?... Eude
The reason I ask is that the Promethean - quite reasonably - has a protection circuit which temporarily shuts the power down if it's being pushed too hard. I've triggered it a couple of times, but only while mucking around in the house to see how hard I could drive it - it was at volumes which aren't of any practical use.
Ah right, makes sense dude. Eude
Were you driving it very hard at this point?
Regardless dude, I've never had a bit of gear crap out on me ever and I've been through phases through the years of really overloading things. If a piece of kit has it's limits, then those should be factored into the gain stage, clipping protection, or whatever it takes to make sure it doesn't let you down... Eude
This is the inside of the Harley Benton. Its identical to the RedSub and 99% of the Promethean the head comes from the same production line as The Ibanez and the speaker is the same. The Promethean is a nicer finished package with an easier to remove head but its very hard to justify the extra £270 at £229 witha 3 yr warranty I dont think you can go too far wrong with the HB (although ive not heard it through bigger cabs yet but others give it good reviews) Thomman have been excellent with me, real quick delivery and no quibble returns
Nice one Bri, glad you've managed to find the right head Eude
I think I need to try out a 33" scale 5 string.
We're moving from Clapham to Sanderstead, hopefully very soon. Once the dust has settled, you're more than welcome to come and have a go of my ACGs. Be warned though, it might get expensive, I don't think I'll ever own a 34" bass again, which means from now on all my basses will have to be custom... Eude
The right company for the job has been found and it's been sent today. It is officially moving!!
Fantastic news mate Hopefully not long now! Eude
Ok, so months later! I'm pretty pleased to say that I now own one of the first three GVB36 basses to land in the UK. I'll get some pics up soon, but it is a rather tasty bass!!
Exciting news mate! You should know more than most here though, no pics, no bass Looking forward to hearing how you get on with it too! Eude

I've got a couple of ACG 33" basses (5 and 6 string), and have had a couple of Shuker 33" basses (4 and 6 string) come and go. I went with the 33" scale purely for comfort, as I'm a wee guy for a bass player, with fairly small "squarish" hands, so an albeit slightly smaller stretch for the fretting hand is nice as is a shorter reach to 1st position. Obviously, you can shorten the reach with some clever design, rather than shortening the neck, but it's even better if you can do both I think 33" is a good compromise between 34" and 32" scale too, an open E on a 32" bass doesn't sound quite as nice as it does on a 34", but a 33" E is close enough. You also get the nice side effect of a slightly sweeter tone to the upper register especially on the higher strings. The low B on all of my extended range 33" basses has been just fine, as good as, if not better than a lot of other higher end basses, but obviously wouldn't quite compete with the best of the best from 35" and above. Basses should be fun to play, so I don't see why with improvements in luthier skills we can't modify and change form the norm to make things more comfortable and ergonomic so everyone can enjoy them Nice to see another 33"er in the making Eude
