  1. That is very pretty
  2. I almost think you should go with chunky Nuetrik L jacks rather than those silly lightweight EBS ones!

The end of a big lump of 4*2 ish steel bar.
  4. One tuner.: love my Turbo tuner st300 accurate and pleasant to use. One drive: I like JFet drives, I really like the barbershop clone I built - but the Iron man (SS/BS mini clone) I built blows it out the water. one fuzz/distortion: Not really got much love for bass fuzz, Creation Audio Grizzly bass really impressed me but I wouldn't end up using it as a fuzz. one envelope filter: C4 one octave: Fave so far is Valeton OC10, OC2 clone, but I prefer sound to an actual OC2! one modulation, Providence Anadime Bass chorus - for me, this pedal is perfect. Deep, but simple. one preamp (doesn't have to have DI out) Colourbox v2 - if I bought a Warwick hellborg preamp when Thomman blew them out I would have had a pedalboard made with a 1u rack in it - but I didn't so this is as close as I can get. one pedal that does reverb or delay (or both) not enough exp. other than zoom, Line6 stuff. The H9 is nice but still learning how to use it musically. and one wildcard... every time I jiggle the board around I take this off, and then put it on again. The clone I made of the Fairfield shallow water. The thing is subtle to the point of being useless, and can go places that don't sound right - but it's so so musical sounding (JFets again) I use it far more than makes sense
  5. So you have a limit - and can only pick one thing in each category... One tuner, one drive, one fuzz/distortion, one envelope filter, one octave, one modulation, one preamp (doesn't have to have DI out) one pedal that does reverb or delay (or both) and one wildcard... So 9 pedals maximum, what do you choose? (and why?)

Different manufacturers enclosure so spent a bit of time sanding them for a smoother finish. I spent a bit of time making the build way cleaner and neater looking! You can see my one covered with electrical tape!
  7. They probably would if they were using a FI or another bass synth pedal that was tracking the note! Dont worry about it, just play! Unless you’re a total beginner I think you will just naturally start adjusting your technique as you go.

Do! the guys who run basschat would appreciate the quality insight and content (and us too)
  9. it's not directly linked to synth pedals, but when I was starting one of the amp manufacturers had a suggestion on their site that you practice everything firstly with the top end massively boosted and really trebly - so you focus on the attack of the note. And then you cut all the top end and boost the sub so you focus on the decay of the note. With the extreme EQs it means you have to play cleanly... but it mean when using digital things like C4 I didn't need to adjust my technique much
  10. I find it is an interesting conundrum... If I keep going and playing and no one apart from the band in our IEM can hear me, why am I playing? For me, there's a lesson in humility and not having too much of an ego to learn. To being a team player and supporting and encouraging others in their leading/playing.... and sometimes trying to have tactful conversations with the PA guys.
  11. Wow - I thought that was the centrepiece of your rig!

In the diy sphere there are some variations of schematic, features etc

I wonder if a rubber washer would work? anyway that doesn’t help me work out my Mutron/meatbox/Mutron with proton features/mf101 build thing!!

That’s the thing, too much complexity and it fries your brain!!

Would love to know your thoughts! I want to try an analogue filter sometime (currently use the C4) and been looking at diy versions of mutron and meatball (and the mf101 schematic)
  18. I think @admiralchew recently won the thread
  19. it's gone via Guangzhou??!
  20. normally I would go octave, drive, comp, preamp, modulation, delay, reverb With that much modulation reverb I would be tempted to try putting the comp after the octave
  21. Future impact and A lot of source audio stuff, that you’ve spent a lot of time working with and helping out with - don’t sweat it too much - you’re invested in what you’ve got. Get a small board made up maybe, thenget a shelf and put on display?
  22. It's time's like this I think find the Message paraphrase of Amos 5:21-24 worth reflecting on...
  23. If the church is so large you don't know the other bass players in the church I would expect they bring their own and you take yours with you (and let them use rig) If your church is smaller you probably know the kid and know if you can trust him or her

    Siren. C4?

Old band might have once had a sound files loaded up on an old iPod and plugged into FOH it only had the tracks we wanted loaded on- not hi tech but when you wanted it to play you hit the play button and things happened

    Siren. C4?

Wouldn’t it be easier to just have something to trigger a sample?
