1. Anyone tried one of these? I have heard of their guitars and watched videos of their build process on youtube, but I didn't realise they did a bass, very nice it is too! I spent quite a while entertained by their interactive bass builder, and on reading the specs its interesting to see that they use thermo treated woods, I know this may be opening a can of worms, but hey, this is the place to pontificate is it not? Can anyone vouch for the effectiveness of this process? I have read a little about roasted Musicman necks on their forum, but it's arguable as to whether they are subjective and unbiased! 2. The link says manufacturing error, we had a similar recall on our Audi and that's still reliable
3. That logo looks fantastic Pete I am going to have a go at doing one and would appreciate some info/advice Exactly what paper did you use, I've seen clear and white, I assume clear is best, but is there a particular kind? Did you use a Sharpie for the silver? I've seen a method where you soak the decal, flip it over then paint the rear before applying it but your method looks much better Lovely bass too Harry
4. Mmmnn, very strange. Not reaching the price he had hoped for maybe?
5. Oh yes
6. The Israeli bloke is Gil Yarron, if you go on the ( cough ) TDPRI site he is known as Preeb and has done a load of Fender bass builds and guitar builds including a monumental Les Paul jobby
7. http://www.talkbass....eadless-898958/ so good it must be the work of Beelzebub
8. Wonder who the lucky bugger is!
9. It might depend how porous the wood is I used a similar gunstock oil called Rapid Oil on a walnut bass They produce their own filler which I used, and on the black walnut core and the maple neck it was fine, but on the Claro walnut facings it was a mare! It just soaked up coat after coat and wouldn't gloss up, it was all patchy and looked like a Met Office satellite map! There is a method for filling using the tru oil where you apply it then rub it in with fine paper so that it mixes with the dust and makes a sort of slurry which grain fills and starts your finish process off. I've not tried it but from what I've read it seems quite successful I ended up removing the finish and doing it with Rustins Plastic Coat which looks great I will use oil again though, but on different woods! Good luck
10. I have a fret less with a Duncan and a 5 string with a Delano, both Alnico and both sound great Any joy with your neck and bridge?
11. " sounds better that 2 weeks on some crappy Spanish beach " Maybe this would fit the bill http://jungleguitars.com/index.html
12. Or swap your BC212 for an RS112 maybe..................or one of the new 'budget' Markbass combo's, I think they're based on the LM250 head and look fab
13. This is just lovely http://www.ebay.co.u...=item19dba5af40 I wonder if he'd accept an IOU
14. Anyone tried this out yet, if so what's it like?
15. When seated, I play with it on my left knee because I have a problem with my right shoulder and this position lowers the angle of my arm and shoulder, I'd have to stand up otherwise because it becomes unbearable after a short while. I also find this position more comfortable when playing from near the bridge end of things and when playing fretless because you can tip the neck up a wee bit and be more accurate with your fingering
16. You need to stay in more! On the other hand at least your children don't interrupt you when you're playing live!
17. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2ec761b177 What a beautiful beast, he's selling a masterbuilt Marcus Miller Jazz for the same price!
18. Rosewood fretboard and trans blonde finish? Yes please!

Fave guitar solo?

You have taste Mr McNach, you got me listening to Lizzy all day today......what about the 1st solo on the live version of Opium Trail........or all of the Black Rose song.........the solo at 2:30 is the same but I prefer the Live and Dangerous version with the lovely outro as well http://www.youtube.com/watchv=m33yq9UED_g Or how about another of my live favourites.....Jeff Healey ........awesome player.......he sounds like he was wringing that guitars' neck at 1:16
20. Strips of Velcro?
21. Treat it well Bluejay
22. Rats......I won't ask then, it would have suited my daughter down to the ground
23. I let my 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son temporarily decorate my 5 string project.....a sort of Musicman/Sandberg job until its warm enough to respray it. They used a CD marker pen and Lewis drew a camels chuff! Luckily it's partially hidden by the bridge I used a Delano MM style pup which I'm very impressed with, along with one of Tommo's Sabre clone pre's
24. I was just about to suggest panel wipe I imagine Acetone would do the job too
25. The Bare Knuckles pickup in my (son's) black Westfield sounds awesome
