1. I am in the early stages of a bass build and will be making two necks, one fretted and one fretless. I will be making them from maple, a five piece laminate construction with walnut stringers between the three lenghts of maple. I appreciate that this is a widely accepted method of constructing a stonger neck, but I noticed on the Warmoth site that they offer a Superbass neck with steel stiffening bars parallel to the truss rod. I can see how this would strengthen the neck further, but would it really cut down or eliminate dead spots? They go as far as to say that steel works better than graphite, but offer both as an option. Anyone got experience or knowledge of these or similar necks? Is it worth me routing a couple of extra channels and putting in steel bars which are cheap and easily obtainable (unlike graphite) or will it just make my build neck heavy and not noticeably stronger or better sounding? here's the Warmoth link http://www.warmoth.com/Bass/Necks/TrussRods.aspx

7. A lovely series 6 Trace Elliot AH200 amp, from the golden pre Gibson era which are widely regarded as better made and better sounding than the later stuff. This one has a 12 band graphic and is in verry good condition, no missing knobs or sliders. This one weighs 7kg and measures W 43cm/17" x D 28cm/11" x H 10cm/4" Follow this link to Harmony Central reviews or do a search here to see how highly regarded these amps and cabs are http://www.harmonycentral.com/products/102260 Immaculate Trace Elliot 1153 tolex cab. weighs 25kg and measures W 48cm/19" x D 43cm/17" x H 60cm/24" which makes it more portable than my BLX130 combo. 200 watt, 8 ohm, 1x15" black tolex covering, no tears, no issues except missing nameplate on the front. These are great sounding cabs, follow this link to read independant reviews from harmony Central http://www.harmonycentral.com/products/115092 £100 for the cab Collect from Plymouth or arrange courier and I will pack it properly thanks for looking
8. I am thinking of selling my Trace Elliot AH200 head and 1153 tolex cab, both in very good condition.not quite sure of the exact value of them, but I need to raise funds for another project, and I'm asking £250 for the whole lot, I would prefer to sell them together. I've (hopefully!) included a photo of the head and cab, the dimensions are as follows weight width depth height AH200 7kg 43cm/17" 28cm/11" 10cm/4" 1153t cab 25kg 48cm/19" 43cm/17" 60cm/24" the whole lot fits easily into the boot or rear seat of my Fiesta, so its quiite a portable setup. The cab weighs less than my BLX130 combo which I got delivered by courier for £30, cheaper and safer than Parcelforce. Unfortunately at this price I cannot include delivery, that would be up to the buyer, but I will double pack it properly.

11. Thanks Owen, I've decided to stick with the 4 string pickup now. good luck with your sale
12.
The Duncan pickup is still here. I am afraid that I would have no use for a 4 string version.
shame.......let me know if your buyer for the pre-amp falls through, I'd definitely be interested
13. Do you still have the Duncan pickup? I have the four string version, would you be interested in a trade?

16. Fleagle the beagle snoring.........bless 'im
17. Do you still have these? I'd be interested if they are reversable, IE can they be made into 3+1 format as in a Musicman?
18.
Bugger!
sorry Stuee, if it all falls through I'll PM you regards Harry
19. Hi Stuee.........sorry to you and anyone else who is confused or misled by the 'B' string gaffe, I have of course thrashed my incompetent typist with a roll of barbed wire.........the pictures show it is a 4 string not a 5 string, I am embarrassed! I read your link and really feel for you....easily done, everyone would agree, I did notice, (not that it will console you that much) that you wondered where you stood legally should the miscreant be found......there is/was an offence of 'theft by finding' which means if someone found your lovely bass and did not hand it in as lost property or take reasonable steps to locate the owner then they comit an act of theft if they keep it. It gets complicated and becomes more of a civil matter once its passed on to a shop or third party but its essentially still yours, and anyone can reasonably accept that it was not abondoned by you! anyway, perhaps 4 strings would satisfy your needs, after all how many fingers have you got on each hand? regards and condolences Harry
20. thanks jmsjabb.......I couldn't agree more, they are very well made, but I am at the starting point of a self build Stingray style build and I need to raise funds for a John East pre-amp and lots of hardware (as I will be making a fretless and fretted neck for it) so unfortunately it must go dumelo......I will make enquiries this week into the recording...... just to explain, I work in a catholic boys' school and used it on a joint schools musical production. The event wasn't entirely my cup of tea as I'm not catholic but it went down very well and so it was all recorded at a nearby recording studio. I finished the bass parts on Thursday and as it won't be performed again until next easter, now is the time to get cracking with my Blingray build! If it has been mixed down I will try to post a soundclip for you thanks for your interest regards Harry
21.
You should post this up on http://patrickeggleguitars.org/
.......thanks jmsjabb, I was in the process of doing just that but having problems adding images due to their meagre allowances for attachments regards Harry
22. Up for sale is my 1993 Eggle Milan IV, excellent condition, British, handmade and rarely out of the house since I got it. Its the natural satin finish swampash and has a satin finish 5 piece laminate neck, Sperzel locking tuners, Eggle sustainer bridge, Kent Armstrong soapbars and upgraded 3 band Kent Armstrong eq. The body woods, bridge and 5 bolt neck joint make for a really resonant bass, and it records very well. Its an extremely well made instrument as you would expect form Eggle, as I understand it they are being made again to order but the spec has changed and they go for upwards of £1500. Newer ones seem now to be passive and I do wonder whether they will be worse off for it, changing the electronics on this one really lifted the sound and versatility to another level. There is one small chip in the surface lacquer next to the B string tuner but you have to get up close to see it, other than that its mint. Comes in a Patrick Eggle branded Levy's gigbag. I need the money to fund a fretless self build so £450 and its yours, no trades please.
