2. Interesting, and the advert seems honest enough, but is it right to call it a Wal? 3. Would this do the job? There is a 5 bolt Fender version on e-bay for a deluxe jazz but I suspect as you say "old jazz" that this wouldn't be for your guitar. I've used one on a telecaster build along with inserts and they worked out fine for me. 4. Oh yeah, that's nice. I've got a real softspot for redwood, which is ironic becoulse it's the softest wood I've ever some across. I did a thinline telecaster body for a Warmoth neck I have, my first experience at building, and its redwood over brazilian mahogany. Looks stunning but boy is it a pain. I'm deliberating over what finish to put on it, currently I'm leaning towards Rustins plastic coating. Simo on the UK Guitar Builders forum did a lovely redwood bass with that finish as its apparantly very tough. What are you finishing yours with? 5. Oregon Wildwoods are excellent people to deal with and very reasonably priced, I got consecutive cuts of Claro Walnut for my Blingray build from them and it looks like its 3D, I'd recomend them anytime
6. Clearly not much to do of an evening in Scrotum, Pennsylvania then?
7. I trust you will be wining and dining the little lady at the Rupali/Curry Capital......you won't regret it.....but your nipsy won't forget it !! Of course you could opt for an evening of culture in Sunderland
8. this looks interestng, anyone know enough about them to say whether it is or isn't? 1990 Stingray

trans white would look good with that grain showing through and the "aged" pickguard
10. I am in the throes of my first bass build and need some help, can anyone confirm for me the thickness of the headstock on a Stingray or a Fender bass, I am guessing it will be 15mm or 5/8" thanks
11. Try Titebond Original (looks like custard) its the glue which a lot of guitar builders use and mix it with fine sawdust from your guitar into a paste, its sands very well and takes a finish easily. If you have any little dents you can steam them out with a steam iron and wet tea towel, works a treat but it will raise the grain so do it before your final sanding.
12. good luck to him ! 13. Hi Bod (love the name) if you still have it I'd be up for it
14. I am contemplating a self build cab and have a couple of 10" Celestions to play with......question is would a tweeter be any real use. If it turns out ok I may well build a 1x15" to add on, and it will be used with a Trace AH200.
15. ....forgot to add that you can apparantly spray nitro over the top of tru-oil without any issues, I haven't tried that myself yet but I intend to do a neck with it then apply a decal then spray nitro over the face of the headstock to seal the decal, which is a common practice. good luck
16. Another nice finish for necks and/or bodies is Tru-oil.....its the stuff they use on gunstocks. This stuff is probably more durable than oil and wax and a bit more moisture proof (handy on a neck) it is afterall intended for shotguns etc so its got to be weatherproof, but it looks lovely especially on figured necks. Its like the finish on a musicman neck but it can be made quite glossy if you want it to be. Its cheap to buy form a gunshop or on e-bay etc and its quite easy to apply, no special kit or ventillation needed. this link will give you a bit more info and links to lots of tutorials. The TDPRI (telecaster) site has loads of info on their "home depot" section which is a home build section, its s very popular finish for home made tele's http://www.tdpri.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-241777.html

21. Hi daz the height of the metal casing is just under 9cm or exactly 3.5" but it has four rubber feet on the bottom. Measuring from a flat surface and including the rubber feet it is 9.8cm or 3 7/8" hope this helps
22. Hi daz it doesn't have a case, but if you so want it I can make some sort of casing from mdf for the sake of transport as well as packaging it with bubble wrap and cardboard
