1. Hey all, I'm wanting to swap my 115 for a 210. Must be Ashdown's classic NEO cabs. Anybody in a similar position (or opposite position) to me give us a PM. CM
2. It's how it is sitting in the mix - other stuff is interfering etc. With stuff like that I always walk into the audience space with the pedal on (particularly distortions/ gains/ fuzz) and get the band to play a song that I'd use it in. Does it still sound good from the amp or are you DIing. I find that the effected signal that is sometimes sent to the FOH can sound very strange compared to what is actually coming out of your speakers.
3.
If you want your camera covered for business use with Barclays, they can now do it (if your policy # starts with MHO or renewed after May 4th 2011). All they do is specify it & add a clause.
I'll let this policy run out first. I must admit to Barclays being very helpful, I named all my stuff and their value, how much would be out the house and what they will be used for. They did say that if you are being paid in the sense of a few beers and petrol I'd be fine. A proper wage as such would void the policy.
4. I spoke to mine specifically (barclays) the only issue for 'out of the house items' is if I was using them for work. My camera is therefore insured separately whilst I now get paid for jam nights, with the same people, with a predetermined 'jam' list, and a PA that happened to be made from the exact parts each jam member brought along.
5.
A FORT!!!!
This.
6. That is terrible news. Think i'll go photograph everything now as I keep putting it off... Hope you get it back, is there anyway you can email cash convertors etc. to at least have the serial logged etc. Could it end up at Electromusic Donny? If they are clever enough they'll realise its decent kit and try and get better money from trade in at a music shop over cash convertors. Facking bastards.
7. This sounds all good then. The 6 way extension lead offers 'surge protection' like you would use for a computer etc. I've always used these type of extensions hoping it has been offering me a little more protection. Is it right that using power conditioners is a good idea when you are abroad and using generators etc. ? Thanks for your responses!
8. I've just noticed on the 'What's in your rack thread' that someone has mentioned NOT to use a surge protector before the amp as it limits current drain. Typically at the venues I play at there is the need to stick an extension lead in to power my amp and effects. I've a few kicking around the house including a decent surge protector one - it's quite funny to watch as I when I hit the lows it shows how the amp draws more power. Should I be using a surge protector? The poster did comment for high-powered amps - is my Ashdown Klystron 500 (575w) classed as high powered?
9.
Awesome. Ironically I intended my post to be a 'look at my new toy' kind of post - unfortunately I rambled on so much it became a review. I'll do a full review after it's annihilated the Nottingham Playhouse on the the 16th!
It built up a grand suspense to a grand looking cab! Just a (possibly naive) thought, how would you mic a cab like this? Would you need three mics and three different mics for the different types of driver? CM
10. Mate, I feel your pain! I was at a gig and it happened to me during soundcheck - exactly what you have described but with my Ashdown Klystron head. I actually felt my insides turn to liquid. I couldn't think straight checking stuff. I checked everything I could whilst there and ended up having to get another rig form home. It wasn't till the next morning could i logically check stuff. Ashdown ended up shipping me a new head and collecting my other one. I hope you get stuff sorted, like others have said there is a reason it has done this and a short term fix of replacing a fuse or resetting something my just whitewash over the problem. Best get a tech to it. Good luck, Josh
11. I went through the same kind of process. I kept adding to my pedal board for a middle 8 here and an intro there. I ended up hunking another big box into rehearsal and at gigs. I've now cut it down to what I need not what I want to have available (if I want to spice things up a bit). I'm down to an EQ, Tuner, BF2 and DD3. the pedals fit on a tiny board I've made for purpose and can easily slot into my cable bag. My Klystron head has a tube preamp for a bit of grit, a simple but effective sub harmonic as well as an EQ on off and simple compressor. I much prefer having it nice and compact. the head footswitch on the right and the effects on the left in a sort of V formation inline with the legs of the mic stand. Perfect for some of the pokey venues I end up playing. Reducing my effects has also improved my playing - I can't blame my effects for sounding crap - its down to my fingers and understanding how EQ can enhance and support my playing (either with or without a pick)
12.
We say 4 ohm minimum for a reason.... ;-)
WHS
13. Another plus one here too! Covers made for my Ashdown Classic Neo cabs and they arrived quickly, look ace and fit like the proverbial glove. I noticed the image above had an logo stitch in - is that a new service they offer?!?
14. +1 to the separates. I wish I hadn't gone down the combo route and gone straight for separates especially as I knew I'd be gigging pretty damn quickly!
15. I've had the same experience. An unregulated power supply fried a section of my Klystron head, rang ash down, they sent the new one out to me that day and it arrived before a different courier picked up the broken head!
16. That sounds ace. I do like mucking around with this kind of stuff in Amplitube.
17. I run 210 and 115. I gig all over from little pubs to fairly big places that are setup for gigs and if I was given the choice I'd swap the 115 or a 210. The sound I get with the stack is ace I love it! They are quality cabs and the 115 is punchy as. However, the problem with changing venues is the way the room reacts to the different cabs. Some times my 115 is too boomy, sometimes it is lost. I guess it is dependent on what it is sat on. Same goes for the 210. (Having said all of that it is probably my EQing) The way I have got around it is to make a constant platform to play on. That way the stack is always the same height from the floor. I don't know whether this is affecting my tone but seeing many bands at gigs they always seem to leave their cabs in the flight case sat on the castor wheels so I presume i'm fine leaving stuff on my trolley board. I have also thought about the flexibility the 210 and 115 give. You can run both or just one of each. You also have a choice of cab you want to mic up as well I guess... That's just my 2p. There will be a lot of science associated with it - it's in everything we do! However, in the real world when everything is up to the interpretation of individuals I guess it is what makes you roll.
18. Cheers mate. Sold pending payment and all those niggly bits.
