1. Many thanks for your replies. I've gone with another Traveller for now and will use the grace period to test whether I should go go the STD102HF. However, from what I've read it is always best to for exactly the same cab - would the difference in porting/ size etc. cause the cabs to 'react' with one another?? Should be here ready for a weekend of gigging. Many thanks again for your replies and I'll be back to let you know how I've got on. Kind regards, Josh
2.
The best cab by far that I have used with my LM3 is a 4 ohm STD104HF. Massive SPL!!!!
The only problem I have with this is that I'll need an 8 ohm to use it with my other cab. If I'm going down an extension I want maximum flexibility. I could go 2/4/6 if it is all 8ohm although it seems it won't be an even 6 due to power distribution.
3. Aye, I did wonder about the power distribution techy-science-thingy-stuff. I'm thinking the 210 is the way to go. It gives me 3 options: 210 and a backup 210 and a leg up 410 vertical 410 horizontal Now, will my OBBM speaker cables reach the bottom cab in vertical alignment? I'm guessing not.
4. Hey all, I've a lm3 with 102 traveller. It doesn't half pack a punch but I'm finding when I'm going off axis or I'm playing bigger stages I lose the thump. So, with money in the back pocket (Thanks Villa) I'm considering an extension can in 8ohm. The question is which cab. 210 + 210 stacked vertical 210 + 410 for bigger stages or 410 for those non pa support gigs/ short on space (imo will look ace too) Think a 210 is roundabout 350 and 410 round 550. What to do!!! There is flexibility from both setups. Do 2 2x10 vertical setups out weigh a tradition 4x10 setup- dispersion and all that? Space isn't an issue and neither is the weight- not that Markbass (even if the shift in production making them weigh more) bother me weight-wise. Any advice - I keep loading and emptying online shopping carts constantly so I thought I'd ask in the place I could think of. Thanks in advance, Josh
5. This is a pretty good site to gauge compressors against other compressors: http://www.ovnilab.com The M87 comes out quite well, I've got one myself.
6. Many thanks for the replies. Managed to get a cheap Boss FV500H then read the measurements... seems I'll have to ditch everything on my pedaltrain2 just to get it on haha! I've gone for a TRS to TRS cable but browsing random threads about expression medals for stuff like the M9 etc they advise using 2 mono to TRS as apparently you get better travel out of the cable. @ratman - I never knew you could change all those parameters - the fun factor just shot up a bit more. Now, back to sitting by the postbox....
7. Hello all, I'm looking to expand the functionality of my Zoom B3. I want to add an expression pedal but having seen a zoom one it looks like it won't last 5 minutes being gigged regularly. Is there a pedal someone could recommend and also what cable will I need to connect it up. Is it a TRS? Any help and links greatly appreciated! I've looked everywhere for this info and can't seem to find it. Kind regards, Josh
8. I am very interested in going for a 6er. On of my bands is now down to one guitarists (thank the music gods) and i'm seeing this as an opportunity to raise the profile of the bass in songs to fill the 'void'. I'm thinking the higher strings will allow me to mimic the guitar etc. more. Anyone else gone 6 for a similar reason? Also where do I start if I had say £500 notes?
9. Whilst using my electric bass and turned to find my strap lock ion the bridge-end of my P-Bass had got stuck between strings on my double bass that was leaning beside me on a cramped stage. Chaos ensued as the double bass came with me pushing me into the drum kit but not falling over entirely. I managed to twist so the bass was on my back and carry on whilst a friend in the crowd unhooked me. It was grim for what felt like ages but was actually only a minute or so.
10. We had this a few his back. Turns out at the next rehearsal the valves went in a Mesa guitar amp - I think this had something to do with the trips as we'd used all the normal tricks of limiting draw on the rings etc.
11. I've the B3 and have recently bought a MXR M87 (I'm sure that number is right?!?). I've found it way easier to dial in and manage especially as i run the B3 in a loop (through a LS2). I guess it depends on your rig setup and what else you have got going on. Like others have said, if it is working for you then stick with it!
12. I'm in the same position as you. I've a beh BDI but wondering what else is out there for that overdrive sound. Considering the MXR stuff at the mo. I'm very impressed with their pedals at the mo. Great video btw - shows how hard us 'root players' work...
13. I feel I need to look for something new, I've never been bitten by the bass bug like I did with guitars. Haven't a clue what thought. My first bass was a MIA Custom P - It's a fine piece of machinery and everything I play is compared to that. I bought a backup bass in the name of a one of those VM Jazz basses - I enjoy playing that too as it gives that different sound. I play DB now because I bought a MIM Fretless Jazz and loved it - barely play it now mind. I've played stuff in shops and what-not and thought it played nice etc. it's never through my gear etc. so I'm more inclined to put it back on the shelf.

15. Owned: Little Blue 180 Mag 210t combo Klystron 500 head and Neo 210/115 Great customer service when my Klystron head blew up. I received a replacement before they'd even picked up the broken one. I only sold because I wanted a different sound (playing DB) and also a more compact rig. See my sig for difference between a flight cased klystron head and 2 cabs. If I was only doing my e-bass stuff I'd never have swapped. I got a great deal on the rig and exchanged it for more than I paid for it - btw where I traded it suggested the prices, if they were happy to pay what they did then so was I! I did try the Klystron through my traveller cab and the difference was something else - even though the ashdown neo cabs were the top line made in UK ones. PS my mag300 210t combo IS my back up - it's hardy - it's fallen out of the van, been knocked off stage been sued as a back line for a range of bands etc and is still live and kicking and doing what the price tag asks of it and may I add more!
16. Wavey, save yourself the stress and buy direct from OBBM. I've used his cables and they are top quality. They are built to be used and moved unlike some cables that after 50 uses in and out they are falling to bits. The cables go beyond durability too - there is science behind his choices of components. You could buy the bits and gave a few pennies but at least with OBBM, failures (can't see it happening myself) will be covered by support. Here is the website: http://bassic-bits.co.uk Simples.
17. Just checked the back of my cab, that was bought recently and it says designed in Italy, assembled in Indonesia, The cab is still incredibly light in my opinion, to think of it even lighter makes me think that on full bens the cab would move around the stage! Haha! I did notice that there was a distinct weight difference between a lmII 210 combo (which must be a made in Italy) and the 210 traveller I have. That combo was ridiculously light. Personally, if I wanted another 210, I would go for the traveller again. I've been into the cab to look inside and I was impressed with the build. I've had top-line ashdown (klystron neo) gear that was nowhere near the quality of the MB cab. So, like others have said, the Indonesian build doesn't bother me if the quality is at the level it is. I'd be annoyed, I think, if I has a mismatch. Do they sound any different A/Bd?
18. Can you fit other ear buds to the acs ear protection or is it just the acs t15 drivers that you can fit? (they are £149 for those who don't know and allow you to take the filter out of your hearing protection and replace it monitor drivers)
19. Had my impression done today at Boots! Weird having the goo syringed in!
20. Well I ordered mine yesterday and got a confirmation on the website, but I haven't got anything through on email which is worrying me slightly. I've arranged for my impressions on Thursday. How long did it take for people to receive their plugs after they got sent off?
21. I've had the christmas tree ones made by ACS but can't get a constant fit. A custom fit with specific filters have transformed how my dad works, he used the Christmas trees before moving to mouldies. All paid for by his work mind.
22. Right, sold to bassist in the corner. Now do I go for a colour? Many thanks for all your replies. Helpful, as always.
23. Many thanks, both of you, for your quick replies. Muzz, your scenario sounds exactly the same as mine. I'd like the flexibility of them being pure hearing protection with the bonus of having the option of them being transformed into IEMs if so required. Out of interest which filters do you have, Muzz? BruceBass, I was looking at the PRO 20s based on their synopsis. Did they recommend the 17s or did you just go for them on the back of the description? Many thanks, again.
24. Hey all, Well, crimbo and my birthday have been and gone now and I've a pot of money I've been saving to get some custom ear protection. The only company I've really considered is ACS. Why? Well my Dad has just had a pair of the custom moulds up for work (he works in a power station so lots of frequencies at very high dBs). He says they are fantastic. He says how when on a job they can talk to one another whilst leaving the protection in place. Before, they'd either quickly remove the protection to shout at one another or they'd leave the job to find somewhere quieter. Now recently I've noticed sustained ringing after gigs, we are no louder, playing nowhere differently so I'm thinking its my ears. Ive had them checked they are OK but the doc did say that even 2 short but sustained exposures to high dBs will take its toll. I've around £300 so my options are slim. ACS hearing protection at £140ish (can always by the T15 in ear drivers at a later date for £150) ACS T3s at £249 My concerns: Will the T3s protect my ears being half moulds? Will the T3s, being single driver, be enough for a live rock band? I like the idea of silicon over acrylic moulds - are there any other companies I should be looking at? I know there has been a similar thread to this, but it seems, having read it, that it has moved into the realms of £1000s so has gone off my radar as such. Any help appreciated! Thanks in advance, CM
25. Has anyone used the T3s? I'm considering some new hearing protection and want mouldies. Do I just go for the standard ear protection and upgrade later to the buds that fit in or go for the T3s?
