TR-2 - £45 delivered Mint condition - never gigged - never velcro'd Boxed with instructions Only months old bought in June
4. Anybody have any idea of making the intro sound for Dakota by the Stereophonics on the B3 (hate to ask)?
5. There is no hiding when the guitars are tinkly and the drums all side-sticky! Thanks for all the replies!
6.
Another one not mentioned is Aerosmith, they do some damn good ballads. How about taking something that wouldn't normally be anything like that, and putting your own spin on it to make it softer. For instance, i think something like Walk by Foo Fighters would be brilliant as a stripped down, less intense version. Liam
As good as Foo Fighters are (I'm a fan from the early days) we tend to find they don't go down that well in the pub crowd. We've done: Learn to Fly Times like these These days Pretender We also work on the premise that the song must be 'known'- I partially agree with this but don't think it need apply to the whole set list as people go to live music to listen to live music and are often open to hearing a new song etc.
7.
don't do a song that that somebody in the band doesn't like, resentment builds up and it'll end in tears
This has come a couple of times about the democracy of a band - if 4 out of 5 want to play it, what would you say?
8.
Maybe not all ballads, but some suggestions... Here I Go Again - Whitesnake That Was Yesterday - Foreigner While My Guitar Gently Weeps - George Harrison Still in Love with You - Thin Lizzy Parisienne Walkways - Gary Moore
A personal favourite of mine.
9.
I wanna know what love is - Foreigner I'd do anything for love (but I won't do that) - Meatloaf Don't stop believing - Journey Festering in the Crypt - Cannibal Corpse Luckily my band has a great female singer; we get to do Bonnie Tyler and Tina Turner! Truckstop
This is slightly out of our vocalists comfort spot haha! I played him some deftones to prove that metal wasn't all just white noise and he nearly fell off his chair!
10. Happy Jack -been a while since I've heard that song! It certainly hear us doing that.
11. Cheers for the suggestions so far. I think with our 5 piece setup we have some flexibility in our arrangements of songs. Are there any quirky ballads/ slower songs that you know of that have been given the rock edge?
12. Hey all, As a band we are in the summer blues! People away at all different times over the holidays has meant we have had 8 weeks off! Booo! However, the new gigging year (in my eyes) is beginning so it is time to have a look at the setlist and get stuck into some new numbers. We are a covers band, Foos, thin lizzy, led zep, acdc, killers, reverand and the makers, reef, green day, elvis. We definitely have a rock streak in us, the songs we play are all pop songs in the sense that they were popular in their day and therefor bridge the range of ages you get in your pub venues. Now, my quandary. The singist has suggested that maybe we do some quieter stuff, add a 'batwing' to the set. He suggested ballads. My question to you guys for a bit of help - what stuff could we do. I don't like the idea of ballads but I want to get into his frame of mind and go to our next meeting about songs with some examples. Any help greatly appreciated! CM
13. I jump around like a buffoon! I use a G50 by Line6. Metal construction, cabletone to simulate different cable lengths (found wifi wireless can be rather bright), lots of channels, great range (i go walk abouts at some gigs i play)
14. That looks ace! What kind of money do these go for then?
15. The mess. The check it all fits. The wrap. And most importantly the play There you go! (TR-2 not staying but making way for a dedicated comp)
16. My Boss one has two inputs and two outputs - that might make it a volume pedal and to be fair, didn't realise there was a difference between the two... So Cheddatom, you are probably right...
17. Thanks for your reply. I decided to trial your method and it was great for the pedals - super grippy (with the opposite velcro on them) I realised I didn't need the whole board covering in it though so went down the plastic wrap route with velcro added. I think it is gonna be a good solution. The board is made from MDF (12mm) - its great till it gets wet so the plastic wrap will give it some moisture protection as well as structural integrity. I sprayed the board with super stick glue then wrapped the plastic on to it using a heat gun to get it tight to board. Its not been done in one piece but is almost like I've vacuum formed a wrap for it. I could get 8 boss sized pedals easy on it (it is two tier) At the moment the bottom tier has my Z3 and BDI top tier has an ls2 lmb g50 and a tuner - I know the B3 does all these things but wanted to free it up to do other stuff than just compress etc. I like my tuner on all the time too so run from the G50 tuner out to a pitchblack. This board then slots into a flight case that holds all my cables that I got for free!
18. I wonder if using a stereo jack to jack would make a difference.
19. I tried my Boss expression pedal and it works as a bypass switch but can't get it to work as an expression pedal. Someone mentioned that their moog expression pedal didn't work either. I wonder what the difference is with the zoom expression pedal and other brands.
20. Had an oc2 and oc3 and depending on style they have worked pretty low. I've used mine as low as D for the songs i play to fatten up the tone.
21. Hey, Built a new pedalboard yesterday to house my new array of effects. I've made it out of MDF and now I'm at the point of covering it. What do you recommend? I'm in a city so I have most DIY places on the doorstep. I'm thinking getting some of that self adhesive plastic, laying a thin layer of extra strong glue and applying it. It's quite thick and will be a pain to do but I think it will give a good finish. Velcro strips can then go on the top. Fabric is another option.... Any advice from past projects will be appreciated! CM
22.
I have the Zoom exp pedal. Did have a Moog one, but it didn't work.
How do you find it? I have always found exp pedals that are part of multi fx limited in their travel.
