I'd love one regardless of the weight! But in order to justify spending considerably more than my average Peavey budget of £170 I have to be really picky about it. It needs to have Blade pickups, a rosewood neck, and not be natural or sunburst finish

I've seen lots of examples of people swapping the heads out. I've even seen an LM tube 800 in the 2x10 before!

I'd only be sanding the neck anyway, I don't give a monkeys what the back of the neck looks like as I'd be the only person to see it anyway... Plus Grinds have a 5 piece neck so how bad can it possibly look? If it plays better (which it will) it will be worth it.. If it affects the tone in a positive way even slightly that's a bonus in my books

My newer Peavey Grind is one of the gloss black ones and it sounds a lot more "plasticky" than my older natural finish one... Would sanding down the neck make a noticeable difference in tone? I'm not all that fussed if it doesn't, but it might save me a pickup upgrade that I've been considering for a while..

Get a passive Warwick and Chuck some flats on it or roll the tone off!

I'd agree with the posts that say most of the sizzling top end comes from having a bridge pickup. A fantastic choice would be an Entwistle neodymium P/J setup. I think the pair cost me £50 and they're the ballsiest passive pickups i've ever heard!

If I didn't have so many I'd have snapped this up, still 30 minutes left to grab a bargain!

Old Ben is right on the money. I'd say use it as a temporary solution, gig with a backup, or use it as a backup! Lots of their stuff sounds excellent though (apart from their cabinets )

They are 3db less sensitive and the tweeter has an on/off switch rather than a rotary control.

Bass Collection basses are meant to be really good aren't they? Probably worth a go!

Flame shirts are old hat anyways... These days all the cool kids are wearing jackets emblazoned with flaming skeletons playing three guitars at once while riding a dragon made of steel through the moonlit night ... Man that would make one shocker of a pickguard!!

Hmm that review does make it look very good! The thing that winds me up about it though is the upper fret access (even though I'd probably never go up there ), and those monorail bridges. With how aggressive my picking hand is, if I don't have the bass strung through the back of the body I tend to pull the bridge saddles out! I could blame my technique, but a bad worker always blames his tools
