Oh so very tempting...
  2. What if I offered £5 million for this?!? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OFFERS-THROW-NUMBERS-AT-THIS-TENNESSEE-15-STRING-EXTENDED-RANGE-BASS-/291427705595?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43da71e2fb
  3. That's where the alarm system goes....
  4.
Nanette Newman turned down a backing singer session on the Stone's Let It Bleed recording, it was too late however and the sleeve notes were already at the printers. But she did contribute backing vocals to this one hit wonder band.
Nanette Newman? Fairy 'nough.
  5.
Also nice just to get a feel of the weight of a bass and the balance.
Now this is a thing... I don't think I've ever tried one out standing up! Note to self to take a strap along next time - shopkeepers don't want the virginity of their straps-for-sale violated but they don't seem to have any used ones lying around for trying out basses :-(
  6.

OK..... I haven't read all of this thread. Or even most of it. But the question that burns in my head, what is a facist? Is it someone who discriminates between basses on the basis of their exotic wood facings (or absence thereof)?
  7.
I don't think i'll pick up a Fodera anytime soon or i'll wake up one morning with a very empty bank account starting at a bass guitar wondering how it is in my house!
Or staring at a bass guitar instead of my house!
  8.
And there was me thinking "has Si seriously started a thread about his new Daisy Rock bass?" Congratulations on your great taste. It looks amazing. I look forward to seeing and hearing it at the Herts Bash if you can get there with it.
My thoughts exactly! Maybe we'll have to wait a little longer for the "The Daisy Rock blew the Fodera out of the water" thread...
  9.
And I thank the Lord for that.
+1: I'd have died years ago!
  10. Yep, anything that conjures up images of Coventry is going to be pretty harrowing
  11. I had my head turned to orange when I fell asleep in a tanning machine... #coat
  12. ^^^ very nice! I'm something of a G&L-lover (I went for a JB-2 rather than a Jazz). It's a shame there aren't many opportunities to try out their gear on these shores. Edit: just checked the spec and it's got coil-tapping too.... it's a bit of a box-ticker!
  13. Blimey, the band must be small!
  14. If you want to play to a thigh standard, I suggest you put in the leg-work and find a good teacher to help to keep abreast of the top players. Or you could just wing it.
  15.
There is indeed - there's still a small ridge where the binding is, but far less pronounced with the forearm contour. It's also got a handy little gut-cut. J.
Ooh I'm jealous.... (I've got a boring old black RV4).
  16. Is it a trick of the light, or is there some beveling going on on the spot where a regular bass of this ilk would try to carve a line into one's arm?
  17. I've used http://mouseboydrums.com/ and it all went pretty smoothly.. I expect I'll be going back to him for more.
  18.
This is such a great looking bass.
^^^ Speaking as someone who doesn't like Js!
  19. "200 degrees, that's why they call me Mr Farenheit", sang Freddie Mercury. Now I now that Mercury isn't his real name, but I'm pretty sure it isn't Farenheit either. And I suspect that most if not all of those degrees were purchased from some "virtual" college.
  20. Go for it! Jaco called frets "speed bumps", and I find it just more.... organic? when the fingertip is stopping the string rather than holding it down behind a fret.
  21. Some of these comments belong in the Bad Yolks thread...
  22.
It's ok they have plenty there for you to try.
You might need to provide your own Moondance TAB though.
  23.
What about funerals ?

That would be Stairway to Heaven, or Highway To Hell, depending on the client. Or Road To Hell perhaps.
Going Undergound ...or Light My Fire.
  24.
Though obviously don't let your imagination get the better of you in either situation - nobody wants to see you stop mid-riff at a gig with a "can I do that bit again?" or see you sloshing beer down the front of the amps in the studio!
I'm not sure the audience want to see me play for three minutes and then spend two hours editing it in Pro Tools...
  25.
The first 90 seconds or so of

Honky Tonk Women
Alright Now
We Will Rock You

Spooky, I'm sitting on a train playing those sections right now!
