  1. Price drop to £750 No offers / trades at that price. That is £645 cheaper than a new one with the cover.
  2. The idea of a Beef Crumpet is disturbing to me.
  3. It’s very well made and comfy.
  4. As I'm an apple whore my phone doesn't have a headphone socket. Will it work with a headphone to lightning adapter?
  5. These on most basses and guitars. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01272O6VW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I really like them. I have one of these stupidly expensive ultra wide Levy straps too I bought it several years ago when I had some very heavy basses but I don't use it anymore. The damn thing was £75!
  6. I've finally given in and ordered one after years of procrastination. Expect a great deal of "WTAF am I doing?" type questions in the very near future!
  7. If the bassist thought he needed that - how loud were the rest of them?
  8. They do calm down a bit. They never get as thumpy as La Bella. They keep their own sound. I reckon they sound the best between about 18 months and 5 years old. You'll know if you really like them by then!
  9. Mind you, if I wanted a bass just for plectrum use…. Mmmm,m got me thinking now!
  10. Added a trade option: sub 7.5lb Sandberg California II VS4 or VT4. Not fussy about colour. EDIT - might consider some shortscales. Mustang JMJ or a Sandberg Lionel etc. Still must be under 7.5 lb though. Lighter is always better. ta
  11. That's the one in Gibraltar mentioned above. I'd consider ordering from a well regarded shop outside of the UK, but I'd be too nervous about doing that from a private individual for something at this money.
  12. Digital and awesome: Source Audio. They've made some real bangers lately.
  13. They are lovely strings! Bright enough, but no finger noise, and react really well to turning the tone down. I could see them being described as being between a traditional flat and a round tonaly. I've got a bass with steel rounds that is very bright and another with La Bella flats that has no top end and is really thumpy. The EB Group flats sound somewhere in between.
  14. I did see that and for a moment I thought about it, but I don't want to risk that sort of shipping from a private individual.
  15. Lovely flame on that neck! The Spec sheet shows they come with a custom set of EB Group flats 45-105 (The normal Group iii are 45-100) and he used ancient Rotosound rounds on his jazz. The silks on your photo are from the Group flats - I have them on most of my basses. They are much brighter than an old thuddy flat, although not as bright as the cobalt flats. EB don't make a halfwound. I've never read anything about JD using halfwounds - was it from an interview somewhere?
  16. I'd expect the regular members of a covers band to get an equal split after the expenses have been covered. But I'd expect a dep to get more as they are filling in, often at short notice to save a gig.
  17. I really like that!
  18. 7lb 10 is still too heavy for me unfortunately. I've got a hard limit of 7.5lb and ideally 7lb or even less. Too much hard living!
  19. Andrew bought my Sandberg TT5 Superlight. All good - even collected on the same day he said he wanted it. Lovely to have a bit of a chat about all things bass as well
  20. Well that's annoying! Wish they'd get on and do a Sterling Special now then!
  21. I've got one of these I'm not using if anyone wants to buy it. (I have paid my subs)
  22. The Vulf Compressor is available as a plugin but unfortunately not as a pedal. I suspect there's a load of post compression EQ going on too. Not a lot of point Pre EQ as the compressor will flatten it all out again, but there's definitely something going on afterwards. I might have to dig out my Boss EQ-200 and have a play around with a variety of curves to see what I can do. The stage rig at the MSG is a bit misleading - he's clearly running a di from the head and then that will be getting processed somewhere. It looks like there might be a mic on the cab from some angles but not from others. I suspect the recording and FOH is all di - through the Vulf compressor etc.
  23. Ray's are lovely but I find the neck a little too chunky, and I've never seen a Ray Special SLO, let alone one that is light enough.
