For me, functionality and comfort is far more important than looks.

If you swap to USA Ultralights and go for the Y keys instead of the Clover ones you'll save about another 12 grams. As you've noticed from the other end, even a little makes a bit difference. (I'm obsessed with bass balance and weight! )

Anyone got a Barefaced x10 series with the new tweeter option?
fretmeister replied to fretmeister's topic in Amps and Cabs
Ooo! I've just had the courier's "We are expecting your parcel" email. So it looks like I'll get it in a couple of days! Excellent! -
Unless you are spending the incoming money on more basses or amps I'm pretty sure you are in breach of the forum GAS rules!

I suspect you won't feel like doing anything at all for at least a couple of weeks, let alone working out your usual lines for a keyboard. I didn't play a note for at least 6 months last time I had surgery and that had nothing to do with my arms / hands. Concentrate on recovery - and with anything nerve related it is vital to do the physio as ordered even when it is really hard work / uncomfortable. It will make a massive difference in the long run.

It does seem to be an 'everybody or nobody' thing to make it work properly.
-
Hipshot Ultralites at the other end would do it, and lower the total bass weight too.

There's quite a few without amp sims, but most multi effects include overdrive / dist. There's no point in the makers removing that bit of code! Line 6 HXFX is an example. No amp sims.

I've had 2. I really like what they did, but both of them had a tiny high pitched whine in the signal that annoyed me. I don't know if I was unlucky in having 2 with the same issue, but it has put me off trying a third.

Are there any clones of the Tech21 Paradriver?
fretmeister replied to fretmeister's topic in Effects
Yes, I know. That’s why I said we are able to do that. -
presumbly you have never played a gig with just a clarinet player alone where fan noise is audible to the audience, but then at the same gig then have to play with a 20 piece ensemble without having the luxury of having 2 rigs on stage? There’s a lot more to it than “you can’t hear it over the drums”.

Stop picking on me! FFS!

Frank Zappa made it a point of pride that his live solos were never just copies of the record and he wrote the things! Go nuts and enjoy yourself.

I never overplay. The rest of the band are underplaying.

so tell me, if we don’t have a PA and don’t need one because only 2 out of about 25 of us are amplified, how am I wrong?

fretmeister replied to fretmeister's topic in Effects
We are able to do that, yes. But it's still nearly £300 over here for a new one, and looking at the used sales on ebay and Reverb the used ones of the current model are only hitting £120. That's terrible loss of value. -
I disagree with that quite a lot. We all have the right to "quiet enjoyment" of our homes. That means we shouldn't be forced to consider ear plugs etc due to the actions of others. That isn't quiet enjoyment - that's having to take steps to deal with the selfishness of others.

That's a kind offer but my passport has expired and I'm not convinced I can get that far north without one! -
It's a difficult one. Even my favourite music is annoying if I don't want to listen to anything. I'm now lucky enough to be in a detached house, but when I was in flats or terraced places I either made sure my neighbours were out or I played at a volume low enough that it could not be heard through the walls at all. In the absence of agreement with a neighbour I don't think anything else is fair. I do realise that many will disagree with me, but that is one of the reasons I moved to a pretty poor condition detached and then slowly did it up (still happening after more than a decade - as I tell my wife, everything is in the planning and I don't like to rush things).
-
I can't ditch them. My band doesn't have a PA. I mean that literally. We don't own one and we don't use one either. 20+ trumpets / trombones / saxes of all types / clarinets don't need PA support. It's only the bass and the electric piano that need amplification.

I've only had Ibanez glow in the dark dots and they were awful. I had them drilled out and replaced with bright white ones instead.

I really want to try one now!

Ashdown ABM 600 Evo IV Problem - Power but no sound.
fretmeister replied to RnRDave's topic in Repairs and Technical
Definitely email Dave Green. He's really helpful. Last year he modded my RM800evo2, got it turned round on the day it arrived with him, and wouldn't take any money either. -
There is no need. There are at least 3 other string makers of roundcore strings who disagree with your statement that all strings other than roundwound hexcore should never be cut.
