1. I have that receiver unit with my headset rig (for magic shows. I'm not in 5Star!) I'll dig it out later and have a look at the connections. Can't say I've paid any attention in the past!
2. I emailed Jim - he said May in the USA, ROW shortly after.
3. That looks very cool indeed!
4. The SP is quite good, but there is a bass roll-off going on. And it can be a little hissy at high compression settings. If you want tiny, then the Henretta Orange Whip is probably the smallest of all - or maybe the HoTone Komp. Different worlds between the quality of those 2 though. I'm looking for another Comp, and I'm going with the EQD The Warden. Has great reviews, no low end loss and top mounted jacks for a bit of space.
5. Maple body? That's going to weigh a metric shitload!
6. Good point on the shelving thing. No idea! Doesn't say on the site.
7. Hartke HA3500 into a Marshall VBC412, with a wah and a couple of drive pedals AND Ashdown MAG400H into another Marshall VBC 4x12. Just a compressor pedal Modded Status with 2 outputs so both amps were run at the same time.
8. So the "Not Treble" control is at 2.8Khz - which is pretty much in treble land anyway, but then there is no way to bring down the zing from new strings etc. Not sure I'm convinced about this.
9. Another vote for Yita They range from £75 to £150 or so - depends on exchange rate I think this is the one I've got http://www.yitamusicshop.com/ProductView.aspx?ProductID=89
10. Swapped a few messages with Berg on FB. It appears the fan is silent and only comes on if the ambient temp is too high - and over 4 days of NAMM none of the fans came on, on the 3 prototypes that they were running. I'm starting to save up now.
11. Also "Auxiliary input, instrument input, auxiliary gain, (overload indicator in between) instrument gain, Master volume, protect indicator, clip indicator, Bass control (push for Variable High Pass Filter), Lo-Mid control (Memory 1), Hi-Mid control (Memory 2), Treble control (Bright control), Program mode, mute/tuner & USB port for software updates." "On/Off power (world-wide auto-switching), headphone output, effects send, effect return, DI w/ Gnd lift, speakon connectors & fan. On the final version, he tuner output will be a preamp output."
12. They say it's going to be about 8lb. That will do!
13. The best thing about Zvex is that they make great pedals that are easy to clone and put in a far more sensible shape enclosure. I have a clone of the Fuzz Factory that I A/B tested with a real one. Can't tell the difference at all. It was half the price and is in a standard shape box.
14. I was thinking about the Wampler Ego or the EQD The Warden - they both have very good reviews on Ovnilab, but I might wait to see about the Seymour Duncan.
15.
I still look at the white one at bass direct and ponder buying it. Talking of which- anybody else find the bass direct "demo" videos incredibly annoying?
Yup.
16. Yes, but with crap battery life "VOLTO can have amazing battery life when powering pedal varieties that use a standard 9-volt battery. Just about every analog overdrive, phase, flange, delay, compression and tremolo pedals fall into this category. Tuners too. Certain pedals, like high-fidelity digital delays and reverbs, draw very large amount of power and are frequently in an “always on” mode. “Always on” can mean two things: a) the player leaves the effect engaged all the time, or the pedal is drawing current regardless of whether or not the effect is engaged. While VOLTO can power these pedals, it is important to note that VOLTO was not designed to power these types of effects as a primary design function. VOLTO’s battery life will be diminished using the pedal types."
17. I gigged the Bass Pod Pro XT (rack mount) for a couple of years and I thought it was excellent. As with all such things - you must bin the presents and start from scratch at gig volume. I was in a covers band with a set list of 60 tunes ranging from 1960s to current and the versatility was brilliant.
18. As it says. A mate is looking at one, but I'm not sure if the reported reliability issues have been fixed. Anyone know? ta
19. Lights Camera Revolution is a great cd.
20. Not a chance! I had to get mine from the US via American friends as the only US dealer I found who had one wouldn't ship outside the country. Its not really a rack mount, it's a massive tray that bolts to the amp from underneath. Shipping cost a fortune in the end!
21. IS the body on the classic 5 a slab without belly / forearm cuts?
22.
I'm a Newcastle supporter, but that bass is just SO iconic for many who have grown old with 'ARRY. I was 20 when I first saw them, 36 years ago.
The very first album I bought was Live After Death. I bought it in 1986 I think. So for me, 'Arry's bass must be blue sparkle!
23. I appreciate that most global buyers won't care what footy team logo is on it, but surely the market is limited in the UK / EU for that? It would look pretty good without the logo.
24.
one of the best instruments in the world IMO. amazing B string. fat and warm. i loved my old SR5. mine was heavy though. supreme feel and tone. wish it had more tone wise but it is what it is.. The Lakland 55 is a better instrument imo, better string spacing and just and only just, a better neck. but it can't quite get that SR5 tone. this lovely bass i miss. ended up trading it for a Modulus VJ4. what a mistake that was. But Lakland vs Music Man.. Lakland every time.
I had that Ray for a while, but it was too heavy for me too. I now have a 2005 one and it's far lighter and I'm playing it loads.
