1. I've just sold my NXT but I had Spirocores on it. The string wrap was a bit long on 2 of the strings (due to the ball end anchor plate being staggered) and was over the nut, but I have to say there was no detectable interference with the tone. I had intended to use a sharp blade and trim the coloured wrap but I didn't bother in the end.
2.
The Olp mm5 ive got Is a 16.5 m spacing , but my status vintage P 4 is standard P dimensions ... so i dont think thats true for all status basses .
No one said it was - it's an optional extra on a Status to have the narrow spacing. Costs more money!
3. Mmmm I am really interested, but I'm also really picky about neck shapes on 5 strings. I'd be gutted if I did a 5 hour round trip to discover I didn't like the profile. Decisions, decisions.
4. I often move between a Marleaux Consat which has 19mm spacing to a Stringray 5 at 17.5mm The difference is very obvious, but I really like both. In the past I've owned a Status with 16.5mm spacing and it was far too narrow for me - even for non-slap work. It's only 1mm tighter than my Stringray5, but it was so very different to play.
5. What's the nut width please?
6. BUMP! Make me an offer. Don't be shy!
7. NAMM Not Available Maybe Moctober.
8. Paul bought my NS Design NXT5. Lovely chap and great communications all the way.
9. In case anyone is interested - I got an answer from Gregor - After 2012 the neck shapes are the same.
10. Anyone got both a TT4 (Or TM4) and a VS4 (or VM4) Are the neck shapes the same? Or does the V type have more of a P bass neck? ta
11.
Try this one : http://www.thefretboard.co.uk/
Yup. that one. That one was set up by the former members of Musicradar - from when Musicradar still had a forum. They closed it when there was a security issue with their Gaming website but never turned all the forums back on again.
12. The Demeter certainly is very clean and it really allows the sound of the individual bass to come through - but you won't get 1960s tones out of it without a pedal I love the clean piano tone it has - but I'm also a big pedal fan so it ticks all my boxes.
13. I use my Demeter and Berg cabs. But I do have a Roland Bass Cube 30 that I do gigs with when supporting acoustic instruments and woodwind etc. it's great.
14.
These techie explanations are great - they're really explaining what I've been hearing for a while now in the consumer bass end of the Class D market. If someone (Alex?) can come up with a lightweight with a power supply that isn't lightweight (if you know what I mean), colour me interested.
Try the Demeter. It's brilliant.
15. I'm loving mine too. It's very clear and lets the individual sounds of my basses come through. Reacts well with pedals too.
16. Lovely! I have the 5 string version. Wish I had the funds to make the set.
17. Bump Now includes a lovely carbon fibre bow for no extra money! Make me an offer - I need to buy bricks!
18. My Demeter VTBP-M-800D (they really need to get some better names for their amps) is amazing and has huge heft. But saying that - it depends what use the amp is going to put to - when playing with a load of woodwind instruments I don't want heft - I want clear articulation that is merely supportive to the other instruments. Horses for courses.
19. I felt the same way! I went for an Empress in the end and I'm very pleased. Although I'd consider the new Keeley that is available now. If you want small - then the Wampler is well regarded on ovid. But I've not tried that personally.
20. Marquis Motherlode. It's an attenuator with DI outputs.
21.
that black mark? a 4-5mm black mark on the underside of the neck wouldn't bother me in the slightest. If the rest of the bass is fine I'd go with "mint". Unless the binding is somehow affected...
+1 Doesn't look like a shipping issue as there is no other damage. Wouldn't bother me at all.
22. No takers? It's an awesome thing - not just for EUB use, but also a brilliant bass problem solver for gigs.
23. No Trades Thanks alas I need the money - I'm building a little house extension with a down stairs toilet. Every penny counts - so I can spend a penny without walking up the stairs!
