1. My passive TT4 (California ) is punchier than my active TM5 Both sound great, just different.
2. All done and sounding amazing. Very happy indeed!
3. I keep listening to Rob Allen fretless demos. I think I want one.
4. The tecamp site says the 1x12 combo is A/B but the 2x12 is Class D.
5. Basses that don't balance. Headstock heavy basses should never be allowed out of the factory. And that brings me to another point - any bass made after about 1985 when the maker decided to use old fashioned enormous tuners. There is just no need for it - heavy clunky pointless things that add weight when there was no need to. I don't care how much of a 'Reissue' a bass is, playability must come first. I was so very annoyed when Fender put heavy old tuners on the new Geddy Lee USA model. It's not a relic, or a reissue, it's a new model. It should have had Ultralites or something equally light weight and well made. And it could have knocked off almost half a pound.
6. I really fancy one of those. I'm really getting into good old passive single coils again with my Sandberg.
7. I think Nordstrand will do pretty much any casing you want to order. I'm talking to them at the mo about some odd spaced stuff.
8. Yup. I love singing. I work more on that than bass at the mo.

Amazon

I've had 1 fake B string from Amazon. But that was a marketplace seller. The rest have been fine. I have Amazon prime so if there is stock I get it the next day.
10.
Which one?
Lemmy. Duh!
11.
Well to be fair tech 21 are completely taking the piss with the price of their pedals, I mean they sound great and all but when you think that behringer can produce a similar sounding unit using the same basic tech (fet based drive circuit) for £30 I think its a reasonable assumption that tech 21 have a fair bit of cost "headroom" to dig into when pricing the head.
Not really a fair comparison though - it's not like Behringer do any of their own R&D!
12. Best strap I've ever found for a heavy bass is the Neotech Mega Bass Strap - http://www.bassgear.co.uk/product/neotech-mega-bass-weight-reduction-comfort-strap/ Very comfy.
13. I've fiddled with the action a bit now and it is playing very easily. I thought I had some spare D'addarios around but I don't so at the moment I'm stuck with the Sandberg strings. Now they've had a good few hours of abuse they are settling in very nicely. They are 45-105 and I usually go for 40-100 but I may well leave them on for a while anyway. The tuners are the new Sandberg lightweight models and the balance is very good - at some point I'll take a tuner off to weigh and compare with Hipshot Ultralites that I have on most basses.
14.
The last one was 16 days from order due to Chunnel problems and going back to Thomann
I ordered my Sandberg on Thursday. Got here Monday. I think the Chunnel disruption is over!
15.
Nice one sir - I got a passive TT4 too about two months ago. It's a lovely bass. Loving the block markers and pearl scratch plate on yours tho - are they a custom order? Have fun with it!
Nope - I found it on Thomann just as it is!
16. As above. I can cope up to 9.5lb but no heavier, and I prefer lighter. On many of my basses I've replaced the tuners with Hipshot Ultra-lights and they can make a huge difference - if the original tuners were old fashioned Fender / EBMM style with bit mounting plates. On a 5 string the swap can knock off half a pound. With that mod I now have a stingray 5 that is under 9lb!
17. Upload your pics to photobucket or any other photo hosting service. Then copy the link to the photo and paste it here - use the little 'picture' icon and a pop out box appears for you to paste into. Then it will appear in the post.
18. This lovely thing arrived 20 mins ago Sandberg TT4 passive. It's lovely and light and feels great. The Sandberg strings suck of course so I'll be swapping them this afternoon. I've had a quick blast and it sounds great. I haven't had a passive bass for years so all my amp & FX settings will need tweaking. Straight out of the box it's actually very well set up - certainly very playable all over the neck, but I will tweak it a bit when I get my favourite strings on it.
19. Close enough! TT4 I was waiting for the new shape models, but I spotted a lovely looking original one on Thomann and asked them to weigh it for me and they did. Nice and light and hopefully with me tomorrow.
20. My missus mentioned that whenever she goes away for a week with her elderly parents she "always" comes back to discover I've bought a new bass. She is never wrong, so I felt obligated to make sure she was right. I already had the crushing disappointment of the bass "loaded on the van for delivery" on Saturday and not actually getting here, but hopefully it will be tomorrow. All I will say at the moment is that I bought it when I realised that I didn't own a single passive bass and I thought I should remedy that. Feel free to guess!
