1. I'm about to order a second One10. Will be the perfect little stack.
2. But there are variations in jazz profiles. The Geddy Lee is very thin for example.
3. Find another close pub and play there on the same night as the other lot.
4. I used to use a very rigid pick but after watching a Nolly vid I tried his approach with a far more flexible one. Now I don't over attack and hand fatigue doesn't happen. I'm mainly a fingers player but if the song needs it... It's all part of the toolbox.
5. I just sold my Bergs so I'm going to get a second One10. That will do nicely.
6. Ian just bought my Berg CN112 cabs, and picked them up a moment ago. Great communications throughout, and a pleasure to meet.
7. Except he's already confirmed it was not music related - he suffered an ear drum blowout when he forgot to put ear plugs in when racing cars. http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/acdc-forced-to-postpone-ten-shows-or-risk-total-hearing-loss-for-singer-brian-johnson/
8.
IIRC the Novax Fan-fret patent has now expired so anyone can make a fan fret instrument without needing to licence it.
Ah, I wonder if that is why Ibanez and the like are now doing them.
9.
I've seen more "bedroom players" than professional players or pub band players using them, they come across as a bit of a well healed over fiftees band to me?
Not really a surprise considering their relative newness in the market compared to endless Jazz & Precision types. Now Ibanez are doing them at a mid-price bracket I imagine there will be more around. Fender won't make one though - it seems to be against their corporate rules to do anything new!
10. Bump. £775.00 collected for the pair as long as collection is before the weekend.
11. I found chords very easy on the ABZ5 I had.
12. It suits the theatrical nature of the band. It's no more or less silly than Bootsy's star bass.
13. The pic is a dodgy colour, but I like it. I can't see the headstock - who made it?
14. The fan fret design belongs to Novax. They licence it to others. Bevelled horns, scratch plate shape etc are not breaches. The companies didn't try to protect them 50 years ago so have lost the chance. The Gibson -v- PRS litigation confirmed the USA position of "Confusion at the point of sale" - basically if the buyer wouldn't be confused then there is no infringement. So headstock design and logo is the important bit. I like fan frets. I'd have a Dingwall Super J if I had the money.
15. I've started using my Vintage Deluxe into the FX return of my amp, bypassing the amp preamp. It's fantastic. Loads of control and great old sound. If the head sounds like that, then I'll get one.
16. I love my One10. I also discovered it's a pretty good guitar cab.
17. If you want to run it into the front of an amp, the regular model is fine. If you want a great DI and maybe just use it with a power amp or the FX return in a head, get the deluxe. Can't go wrong really.
18. I wouldn't gig that without racking it. Far too risky.
19. Yup. I use the Vintage deluxe as my preamp into the Fx loop of my amp. In front of that I have a B7K, Super Symmetry, Duality Fuzz, ThorpyFX Muffroom Cloud and a univibe, and a Bass Synth Wah. Works great.
20. Ha! I do other stuff too. If there was enough magic work then I'd quit everything else.
21. I have a Sonic Port. Great bit of kit and the software is good. Also compatible with Amplitude.
22. As you lot haven't bought one, I'll have to take one for the team. The rack units won't land for another 4 or 5 weeks, but one has my name on it.
