1. The mutant offspring of a poodle and a MM Stingray!
 2.
Ashdown make some nice amps, and the guys at Ashdown are really helpful. You can get a nice sound from an Ashdown but I personally don't like the mix of rotary and slider EQ. There are also well documented QC issues with several of their products. The LMII can also be really warm, I like the simple EQ, they're much lighter and their QC is very good. For me it's a no-brainer
+1 for me
 3. Very nice, very different.By the way, having browsed your website, how much were the chips?
 4. Status Groove-bass(100hz)+5,treble(1khz)flat.Markbass LMII-flat.Zoot 2x12 cab-tweeter flat.No FX,ever.Result;growl,warmth,definition,punch.
 5. Buy one.Fit active electronics.Enjoy.
 6.
most gear can be dissapointing if you're searching for a tone that just can't be replicated. Like others have aid, horses for courses, some people love a tone whilst others will hate it. I personally love MM but I can completely understand why others might not! Saying that the Warwick $$ is the perfect bass for any player.
Any bass player with a spine made of steel perhaps!
 7.
As far as I´m concerned, nothing to date has been an improvement on the almighty Precision. It´s just the best bass there is. Seriously - MMs are great, I never cared for the Status look, to each their own, YMMV, it´s all a matter of taste. For someone to state they have been "let down" by a bass because they prefer a different sound is a bit silly though IMO...
Let down refers to the percieved expectation of a supposidly 'quality' bass with a sound to match, like driving a Porche and finding out you prefer a Nissan Micra!
 8. I also find Fender gear dissapointing(pulls on tin hat and dives into trench!)
 9. Status for me(see General Bass Discussion;'Ray let me down).
 10.
Well I know what you mean about MusicMan basses - I just bought an SR5 purely because it sounds, feels and plays fantastic, everything I have never had with any previous MM basses. It is definitely in the eye of the beholder though - I hate Status basses, never liked the horrible dated shape, and graphite might be bright and punchy but it sounds flat and soulless to me.. if I had to own a graphite neck bass Modulus wipes the floor with them imho. And yes I've tried plenty of Status basses, even owned a couple of S2's.
My Status is a Groove;looks like a 'ray but with a slimmer neck.
 11. My guitar player borrowed a pre Ernie Ball Stingray from a friend of his, hoping that I would love the sound and feel.I picked it up,plugged it in,noodled around for about 15 minutes, and was underwhelmed. My Status does everything that the 'ray does, but with a better neck! I'm sure legions of angry 'ray fans will call for my head on a plate, but this was proof that iconic basses are in the eye of the beholder.

 13.
Hi Al its all looking very excellent. Good to see you using MDF for templates as I do. Its wonderful stuff in my opinion , if only hardwood was as easy to shape and machine... In fact I am thinking of making a body out of it just to see how durable it is and how quick I can make one out of it. Looks quite nice with a bit of stain on it Excellent work would love to see the Baker when its finished....where oop North are you ?
MDF will soak glue and stain like a sponge, but it routs well.It can be bloody heavy though.See if you can get MDF light.(PS,I work for a Timber Merchant!)
